"I had previously been on Microgestin, which didn't work well for me. I was cranky, tired, moody, and found myself having bleeding between periods. My doctor put me on Apri, and it doesn't affect my mood whatsoever. I feel fine, my periods are light and (bonus!) only last 2-3 days. Also, I'm not pregnant, so it definitely works."

"I have been on Apri for 7 months now for both birth control and acne. The first month I didn’t really notice any side effects. The second month, I had spotting the whole week before my period. I didn’t see any difference in my period in terms of cramping or flow, and no change in acne. The next few months were the same. By the 4th or 5th month, I started to see a decrease in my chest/back acne and forehead acne, but I was still getting the hormonal acne on my jawline. Now, 7 months later, my period is so much lighter (2-3 days) and very minimal cramping (before it was 4-5 days with heavy cramping the first 3 days). And I was surprised that the week before my period, my acne did not get worse like usual. My skin has never looked clearer. So it took 7 months for my body to adjust to the Apri and to see the desired effects I wanted on my skin, but my patience paid off. Also, no pregnancies! I’ll be sticking with Apri."

"Apri was prescribed to me as my first birth control pill to use... ever. I have been taking them for a month so far. Before Apri, I had been experiencing very tender breasts, breakouts, and constant food cravings before my period would start. My period was also very irregular. After taking Apri, my breasts no longer become painfully tender before my period (period flow is the same but shorter: 3-5 days when it used to be 5-8 days). I do not get moody, rather, it has not affected my mood at all. I've noticed my breasts getting bigger. No weight loss or gain so far. I have the same appetite, but I seem to become fuller sooner."

"I have taken Apri for about ten years now. The pill has helped with my acne, migraines, period regularity, and cramping. I have not had any side effects. No depression, weight gain, loss of sex drive, or any other negative side effects. I also have not gotten pregnant, so the pill is doing its job!"

"Not really impressed with this. Ortho-Cyclen was much better for me. I have been on it for 9 months, and at first, it was okay, but after a while, I would get painful, heavy periods the first day, backaches during the period, breasts hurt all the time, and no sex drive whatsoever. Will be coming off of this soon."

"I’ve been taking the Apri pill for about 4 months, and I’ve had a pretty positive experience. I’ve experienced no nausea, no weight gain (I actually lost 2 lbs when I started taking it), and no depressive thoughts. I also feel like it hasn’t caused major mood swings. My only complaint is that prior to taking the pill, I had very few skin problems, and now I have quite a few blemishes that pop up here and there. Nothing too unbearable, though. Medicine affects everyone’s body differently, so don’t turn down this medicine just because of varying reviews. Talk to your doctor first!"

"Been taking Apri for about 2 1/2 months, and I've gained about 10 lbs. My sex drive is extremely low, and I'm really moody for no apparent reason. It's really interfering with my relationship. I also have been having chest pains, and I feel a heaviness in my chest when I wake up. When my period came on after the first month, I had really bad cramps. The only reason I gave it a 3 is because I have an irregular period, and it came on time while taking Apri."

"Apri, when I first started taking it, increased my appetite for the first month. I was constantly hungry and would get hunger pains if I hadn’t eaten for a couple of hours. My skin cleared up a lot, though, my cramps nearly disappeared, and my sex drive was much higher. Now that I’ve been taking it for 4 months, almost 5, I've noticed complete clearing of the skin, cramping only right before my period, and a significant increase in my sex drive. This is the second birth control I’ve tried, and I’m not going to change."

"I started Apri five months ago. I have always suffered with terrible ovarian cysts, and now they're starting to finally decrease. I have lost twenty pounds while I've been taking the pills, without changing my diet or exercise. I'm not pregnant, nor have I ever been. My sex drive is the same, but I can't eat anymore. Small meals twice a day that have absolutely no dairy in them are all my stomach can handle now. I have never had a problem with dairy before Apri. I also get terrible headaches and am constantly tired. There are positives and negatives to this pill."

"I’ve been on Apri for about 4 years now. For the first 3 months or so, the mood swings and agitation were almost too much for me to be around some people. I did feel as though I gained some water weight, and my boobs went from a B to a D over the course of that time. My acne got a little worse before it got better. Now, with being on it for so long, I think it’s great for me. My skin is incredibly clear, I have control over my weight (at least it seems), and I can skip my periods with no issue. I do have some lingering anxiety and get agitated a little easily sometimes, but it very well may be due to just me as a person in general. Once I go off it later in life, I'm interested to see how the anxiety does. Overall, I really really like this and will continue to stay on it for a while. It’s great once your body gets used to it, but everyone’s different."

"I went on Apri after taking Tri-Sprintec for 2.5 years. I have now been on Apri for about a year. Before taking Apri, I struggled with breakthrough bleeding and very irregular periods. Now my period is so consistent and short. My period went from 6 days to 2-3 with no spotting. It was a life changer. Every person is different, so do not take the super negative reviews seriously. Apri has changed my life!! If you struggle with breakthrough bleeding, super long periods, or irregular periods, I 100% recommend this option. I get no acne, and my mood swings are no worse than they were normally, LOL!! Good luck on your journey!"

"After years of suffering with PCOS symptoms, Apri has saved me! It has eliminated most of my acne. The first month was harsh, but I knew with how out of whack my hormones were, I was going to have side effects adjusting, so I bared down, and now I'm in the last week of my third pack! The first month, I had the worst morning sickness, I didn't know how I was going to handle it. Each month so far, I've thrown up at least once in the first week. I find the more often I eat, the less I feel the sickness. I've gained about 15 lbs. My appetite has started calming down this month. I went from an A cup to a C cup so far, so I stopped wearing a bra. Some nights, the pain is so bad I have to massage my breasts. I don't find I'm holding much water weight anywhere. I have experienced some headaches, but I try to sleep them off. My periods are already lighter, but still adjusting overall. The best thing from all of this is my depression and mood swings have depleted. I'm meeting with my doctor to renew my prescription!"

"This is the only birth control I have ever used, and I have had absolutely NO negative side effects after being on it for more than 2 years. Pros of this prescription are it cleared up my acne, and my period comes every 28 days without fail."

"I’ve been taking Apri for about 3 weeks now. Just after the first few weeks, my boobs have been super sore and have grown to where everyone, including my boyfriend, notices. I have weird cravings and am getting hunger pains, but feeling full quickly. I am nauseous more than usual. This pill has made me feel pregnant just based off of side effects. I did miss one pill, but doubled up the next day with no issues. I do feel tired and get small random headaches, but nothing unmanageable. Not too bad after being on Depo for over a year. Lol"

"I have PCOS. My first gyno (useless) put me on Junel, which gave me a period every other week and gave me a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst after 6 months. Went off BC for a few years, got a new gyno who is AMAZING, and she took a few days to get me the script for Apri (I think she was waiting for my blood work to come back, idk truly). I've been on it for 3 years, and I've had a good time. I had no real symptoms other than my breasts increasing by one cup size. It also reduced the rate of facial hair growth for me, which is awesome, went from shaving every other day to once every 4-6 days. I'm moving on to Kyleena due to high blood pressure, but I’ll miss Apri."

"I was on Apri from 2007-2019 and had no issues until 2018. My periods were about 5 days long and not super heavy, I gained no weight besides in my boobs, and everything was peachy! Starting in 2018, I started bleeding randomly throughout my active weeks and having extremely heavy periods on my placebo weeks (bleeding through a super tampon in an hour) and had a ton of clots. I'm not sure if my body's hormones started changing with age or what, but it was a great 11-year run before I had a single issue!"

"My doctor prescribed Apri to me as birth control and to make my periods more regular and less painful. Well, I'm still not pregnant, and my periods are completely predictable and manageable. Before I started this medication, my periods were sometimes debilitating. In addition to being less painful, my periods last for fewer days now that I take Apri. There are so many horror stories about birth control pills, but I'm proof that they do work for some people."

"This pill sucks. I was always anxious, but this actually made me depressed. Also, I felt hungry every 5 minutes and nauseous for the rest of the day. I always woke up dizzy, I broke out with acne. And I was always lightheaded and fatigued. Advice to people that don’t want to feel like rubbish: never take this! I’m warning all of you."

"I have been on Apri previously, and it was not available for refill at one point, so they switched me to Cryselle. I lost all sex drive and was flatlined. I am now back on Apri and feel amazing. My mood is better, and my sex drive is back... so happy to be back on Apri, this has really turned my life back around to where I was before."

"First time on birth control and was nervous that I'd have the horrible side effects that I've heard about online and through friends. Went on Apri and have never had ANY side effects (nausea, weight gain, etc.). I think that the horror stories you hear are the exception, not the rule. My Dr. said that she's prescribed Apri for first-time birth control users for years and has never had any complaints about it. Got it for $15/month at first and am now paying $25 through Wal-Mart. Other than the disappointment in price increase, I think that I will be taking Apri for a long time."

"Let me tell you... this Apri birth control pill has been something terrible. I was put on it because my hormones were messed up bad, and sometimes I had a period that wouldn’t stop for a month, then I didn’t have a period for like 3 months. So my OB-GYN put me on Apri. I also have PCOS. Anyway, I have terrible headaches, my sight has gotten terrible, made my anxiety worse, no sex drive at all, and the worst thing, I gained 40 pounds in like 6 months. This pill is straight the worst thing ever!"

"I was put on this birth control pill in preparation for IVF. I've been on other birth control brands in the past and have never had an experience like this! It's only been one week and I am miserable. Incredibly depressed, emotional, fatigued, and unmotivated. I've also noticed a huge appetite increase. In the beginning, I was also super nauseous, but that is fairly typical in my experience. I know that different pills have different effects on people and it takes a while to adjust, but as I said, I've been on multiple brands and none has ever been this bad. All I want to do is sleep, eat, and cry. Good times."

"I started taking Apri as a replacement for Seasonique. My sex drive is completely gone, and my cramps are horrid. I'm not pregnant, though, and it's really cheap. My period is on time every month and very light, but the negatives definitely outweigh the positives. What's the point of being on birth control if I don't even want sex?"

"Love this birth control. I was nervous before taking it because I read so many reviews about depression and mental health issues associated with it, but I have none of those symptoms, and I’ve been on it for about a year. Light periods and no weight gain for me. I am also a diabetic, so this is a great birth control as it doesn’t affect my blood sugar levels as some other birth control methods have in the past. I would definitely recommend."

"I switched over from Yaz to Apri and am on my 4th month. I was originally on Ocella, which made me gain 20+ pounds. Yaz was awesome, but I lost insurance and the clinic didn't carry it, so they put me on Apri. So far, I haven't gained weight, my periods are regular, but I have had an EXTREME decrease in sex drive, enough to affect my relationship."
