For Cough "My wife had a cough for several months. She took many kinds of prescribed drugs, but they were not effective. Eventually, her family doctor changed to this guaifenesin/codeine, and miracle, the cough went away in just one day."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "This is the best working cough syrup. While it doesn't totally eliminate it (which would make it a 10!), it is the best among all of the different cough syrups and pills. I am not a fan of the Benzonatate gel capsules. They do nothing for me."

For Cough "I was given this medication after battling a bad sinus infection for 3 weeks now. The med helped my cough for maybe the first day, afterwards, I have been dealing with bad headaches and going on two days without sleep. Needless to say, after going to the doctor numerous times, I'm still coughing (dry cough), sore throats, chest congestion, and painful chest due to all the coughing at night. Looking forward to a quick recovery soon. I'm on my 2nd dose of steroids and antibiotics, I need relief!!"

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "I was prescribed this for a sore throat and mild cough after I found out I had mono and walking pneumonia. It didn't do a thing! I couldn't feel it at all, and it made my throat itch as it went down. Plus, it's so icky tasting."

For Cough "I went to the doctor after 3 days because my chest hurts so much from coughing. This helped with pain, but the cough never stops. I need sleep. The first night, I had full-body chills/shakes for a few hours. Then, I tried to get up and was hit with nausea and extreme thirst. I got very little sleep. I just went through the second night, and I got nausea and extreme thirst. I think I am going to stop tonight, I need sleep. No side effects during the day except coughing 24/7."

For Cough "Was diagnosed with bronchitis and respiratory infection. Tried other OTC meds, nothing seemed to work. Doctor prescribed this. After 30 minutes of the dose, my coughing fits diminished. Take every 4 hours. Just had my second dose, so praying it continues to help."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "Had a harsh cough that lasted for a week. I purchased this cough syrup and took 20 ml and felt the relief immediately. Not only did my cough ease up, but I was able to clear the mucus that was stuck in my chest! Would definitely recommend! I also give the children's Robitussin to my sons."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "Been incredibly frustrated with a virus that turned ugly and a strong, intense cough that caused pulled muscles, raw throat, and coughing up blood. This drug was prescribed with a decongestant and antibiotics. I still cough occasionally, but this is a huge improvement from the intense nonstop barking cough and gave my chest a chance to heal."

For Cough "I don’t know why, but every single night I took this while having pneumonia, it caused insomnia. I felt sleepy for about 15 minutes about half an hour after taking, then I was wide awake. Nothing worked to fall asleep. I don’t think I will ever take this again. NyQuil works better."

For Cough "I spent three days and two nights coughing. The doctor said I had a sinus infection and gave me this for the cough. It's not helping very much. I don't notice any side effects. When I had a sinus infection years ago, a different doctor gave me Phenergan DM, and that immediately stopped the cough."

For Cough "It’s terrible. I took it at bedtime and drank enough water as the instructions said. I woke up in the middle of the night two days in a row and coughed like crazy. The doctor in the urgent care prescribed me this medicine to help me sleep better at night, but I don’t think it’s working well for me. The price is about the same as a bottle of Mucinex nighttime."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "I have had a cough due to a viral infection that has caused post-nasal drip. I have had the post-nasal drip/virus for 2 weeks now. I have coughed so much my chest burns and lungs hurt. I cry every time I cough. I was given benzonatate (pearls) that did not help at all. I then requested something else because I have not been able to sleep at night or function during the day due to the constant and painful coughing. I was given liquid Codeine-Guaifenesin. I have not noticed a difference using this medication at all. I am still coughing just as badly even at night. I am miserable and nothing is helping. The medication does NOT make me sleepy at all either. I have stopped both medications as they are a complete waste to take for me. I still have the itching/irritation in my throat that causes me to cough. Steamy showers/bathroom is the only thing I have found that relieves my coughing for a short period of time."

For Cough "Good medicine, had me cough-free within 3 doses. Very low potential for abuse is always a good thing! As a medical professional, this may be a great alternative to people who regularly get promethazine/codeine for cough."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "I was coughing and vomiting so much, I had to go to urgent care. I'd been vomiting so much, I knew when my Dr also prescribed Pepcid and Zofran. I still can't eat, but I've been hydrating with water, broth, and popsicles! This medicine works well, especially together with those other two, based on my cough with vomiting. I also took some Tylenol to deal with the pain in my neck and shoulders."

For Cough "I had a very bad experience with this drug. I also had a cough that would not stop. Took 10 ml of this drug. It affected my breathing. I have low blood pressure, and it made me lightheaded. This product slows your breathing way beyond your normal breathing. I thought I was going to pass out. I have heart disease and gallbladder problems."

For Cough "I took this right before I wanted to go to sleep, and it helped tremendously. I was nervous because I read all these reviews first, and I have a sensitive stomach and didn’t want to get sick or nauseous from it. I took some anti-nausea meds with the first dose just in case, but with the second dose, I didn’t, and my stomach was just fine. I assure you this stuff really helped me. Before my doctor prescribed me this medicine, I wasn’t getting any sleep, but this stuff worked for about 5 hours of sleep, and then I took the next dose and was able to sleep another 4 hours straight. I woke up feeling so much better. The only thing I found that bothered me was it gave me a headache, but I just took one Tylenol 500 mg, and it helped with that pretty quick."

For Cough "I had been coughing for several days. After seeing the doctor, they wrote a prescription for Guiatussini/codeine syrup. I had not slept in days. The first day I took it as prescribed, every 5 hours. I felt no effect of the codeine, and my cough became more productive. The second night I increased my dose from 5 mL to 10 mL. Ten minutes after taking it, I couldn’t stop coughing. It isn’t helping, and I’m going another night without sleep. We are going to set up a humidifier and see if that helps quiet the cough."

For Cough "I have been very sick for over 3 weeks with my bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection. Could not stop coughing, kept me up all night. The doctor gave me this medication, and it helped with the cough, but it has given me bad headaches. Overall, it really works. I give it a 9 out of 10."

For Cough "I had been up all night coughing. I took only 2.5 ml of the syrup because I was nervous about codeine. It helped quite a bit. I didn't cough as much. However, I do have a headache in the morning, but it could be a reaction to guaifenesin also."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "I was recently prescribed this medication to help with symptoms from an upper respiratory virus. Whenever I would go to the doctor for a bad cough, they would typically give me codeine and promethazine cough syrup for nighttime, and that always worked wonderfully. This medication did not do anything for me. To me, the active ingredients are contradictory, you have one ingredient that loosens up mucus so you can cough it up, and another ingredient for discomfort, to quiet your cough, and to help you sleep. If anything, the only thing this medicine did for me was loosen up the mucus, causing me to cough even more. I was up ALL night hacking. Every time I inhaled, I could hear fluid in my chest and feel the sensation to cough. It did absolutely nothing to help me sleep, it actually did the opposite for me and made me feel wired. I ended up having to take my Tylenol cold and flu nighttime cough syrup after 2 hours of nonstop coughing."

Codeine / guaifenesin for Cough "Virtussin A/C helped with the mucus drainage from my nose but not with my throat, it only made my throat feel worse. Every time I took some, it made me sleep, and then each time I woke up feeling horrible compared to the first times."
