Anafranil (clomipramine) for Panic Disorder "I was suffering panic attacks, anxiety, depression and irritable bowel syndrome. I started on half a 75 mg for two weeks and then full tablet. The side effects were a bit of a challenge some days but the up side was I had good days very early into taking. I started them four weeks ago and panic attacks are gone, minimal anxiety now and depression lifted considerably, also no more IBS. one thing that no tablet cannot do is change how you think. I am very, very blessed!"

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "After three years on different anti psychotics, I started taking this finally to some releif. I have been taking it now for about six months. It is still working well for obsessing, but the side effects are starting to add up. I have steadily gained weight. Severe dry mouth at first, not so bad now though. Total anorgasmia fixed by Viagra, and uncontrolled twitching. It sounds bad when I write it down but compared to the antipsychotics it's much better. I still feel better than I have and so much happier."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I began taking this drug in 1990. It gave me my life back. I have taken it for 27 years and it still works for me. For me the side effects are worth enduring. I also take buspar twice a day for these 27 years."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have been on this medication a short time. Apart from drowsiness which I'm still adjusting to, I am finding it really helpful. After being on many other medications over the years, I am finding that Clomipramine mixed with my others has finally reduced the pit of anxiety plus the intrusive and obsessive thoughts that I tend to have continually. For the first time I feel like I can overcome the anxiety plus not be troubled by thoughts that I cannot control. I was SO tired of people just telling me I needed to control my thoughts and could overcome them if I wanted. Hey, I'm in my 50s and hasn't been possible up until now! Anyway, so far so good. The drowsiness is a bit troublesome, but to be honest, nowhere near as troublesome as problems."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "My obsessive compulsive disorder has improved significantly. It has also helped with depression but I just up my doses from 150mg to 225mg to see if I can get more of an antidepressant effect. Almost no side effect. I take it in the morning and I do not feel sleepy. Anger and irritability has improved as well significantly. For those who share in the future let me know how much you take please. It helps."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "It’s effective in OCD, but it can cause impulsivity and sexual dysfunction. It caused weight loss. Lack of reasoning became an issue when it stopped intrusive thoughts. I am able to manage without it for over 25 years now. You need to talk more, go out more. Relaxation can also help."

For Depression "Iv tried many SSRI's and SNRI's with little help, with augmentations of all sorts. Clomipramine is the only drug that has worked well so far for my depression. I did a combo of rtms and clomipramine at 100mg now, I am finally pulling free from the grips of severe clinical depression. Thank you clomipramine!"

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Depression "Was on Effexor, Seroquel and Prothiaden but could not shift the constant thoughts of killing myself. Driving became a night mare, just leaving the house was impossible as my thoughts kept telling me to walk in front of a bus etc etc. Anafranil literally saved my life and gave me back the wish to live. Most effective drug I have ever used and gradual withdrawal worked really well. Thoughts not completely gone but no pressure anymore, they just drive on by."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "After a long 12 years of being on Effexor XR my anxiety OCD was beginning to get worse, my GP felt it necessary to increase my Effexor to 150 mg and although I had done that in the passed Effexor was just not working anymore and actually began working against me, awful anxiety at night time and my OCD "I have pure-o" and I felt I couldn't get things under control, I had enough and it was time for change, I saw a different GP who was knowledgeable with Anxiety and he switched me to CLOMIPRAMINE/ANAFRANIL 50 mg to start, I only had a few bad days from the initial switch because Effexor can be nasty to come off but then my life came back and I feel great! Just remember nothing will rid you of OCD but this med is great to manage it!"

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "Before taking Anafranil I had severe episode of Irritable Bowel Syndrome diarrhea. I had anxiety which gave me diarrhea. And that fear of diarrhea gave me anxiety. It was a vicious circle. I even had an "accident". I was prescribed Anafranil (75mg then I lowered the dose to 50mg) and it was definitely a life-saver. No more anxiety and no more diarrhea. I could eat everything I want. I was able to go on vacation, have a girlfriend, go the mall, go to parties, have a normal teenage life and not wondering every time if there is a bathroom near. For sure there are some typical tricyclic antidepressant side effects but I prefer to have it than having anxiety and diarrhea. You have to make a choice and find the right dosage for you."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was on Paxil for a decade and it slowly started losing its effect. After suffering from panic attacks I realised it had stopped working. From that moment I tried everything, none of it worked. I tried mirtazapine, Wellbutrin, fluoxetine, citalopram, and pregablin. You can imagine how I felt I would never feel ok ever again as each medication failed to work after months of trying. The doctors in the UK told me there was nothing else they could try, and I was in a very dark place. I contacted another doctor who said Clomipromine was their last ditch attempt at helping me (not a great way of saying it but oh well). Within the first week I felt like a new person. I actually feel quite emotional writing this. My panic attacks are gone, my racing thoughts and spiralling are basically over. I can just let them go and that’s that! I used to not be able to be alone with my own thoughts because I would have a panic attack from them. Now I feel HAPPY and have ENERGY."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This drug was a MIRACLE for me! My problem was that I was always LATE for any and every little thing I attempted to do and it was ruining my life. It is VERY baffling for me because I started with only 25 mg and within FOUR days I was AUTOMATICALLY, not just on time, but EARLY for everything, without any thought or effort! I was ecstatic. This phase lasted 3 weeks. The doc said I'd be a Super Woman when she amped me up to 50 mg. Well, that made it STOP working! I began to slowly regress, and then started to be extremely drowsy to the point of even falling asleep at the wheel -- and worse, it wasn't even working! We experimented with it but it NEVER worked again and I am super sad about that."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication saved my life. I was dealing with intrusive thoughts every moment of my waking day as well as horrible nightmares. From the first dose, I got some relief, and now the thoughts are gone entirely. It made me groggy at first, and led to some insomnia, but it's gotten better. Sexual dysfunction, though, but having my mind back is the most important thing to me."

For Depression "I use this medication for 5 years after I tried everything Prozac, Cymbalta, Abilfy, and all the others this one was the only one that worked. It took 1 month to feel good and continued to grow for 1 year. It is not like the other medicine that let you continue (if) in your life but you still don't feel good. This medicine really makes you strong and without all the bad Thoughts and the less of energy."

For Depression "Iv'e been on over 6 SRRIs along with the combination of benzodiazepines over the past 7 years for the treatment of depression/ptsd/OCD. Nothing has been so life changing and effective as Clomipramine. Its the most expensive prescription I've had had ($40/mo), but its also the most helpful. I noticed the benefits within 2 weeks, with its effects continuing to increase over time. I've been able to wean off of the benzo, and my anxiety has stayed at a manageable level. My OCD has subsided immensely, but more importantly this medication helped pull me out of a deep depression I had been stuck in for years. I couldn't be more grateful that my psychologist had the idea to try this medication, as I hear it is an older drug.TRY IT! :)"

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "After taking this medicine, I woke up one morning to realize that I felt connected to the world and when I started to do my rituals, I realized that I just didn't need to. Amazing. The problem was that I gained 40 pounds, and the high dosage necessary (over 200) scared me. I would recommend that a person try it and see if a lower dosage will work for them. If so, it's a miracle."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Ever since I was ten years old I have had obtrusive images of inflicting pain/suffering on myself and others. These images create emotional turmoil in life, because obviously I don't want these thoughts. I've tried different medications, yet Anafranil seemed to work the best. My obtrusive thoughts went away almost completely (granted I was on the highest dose). However, Anafranil had consequences: It gave me irregular heartbeats, and heart palpitations to the point where I felt like I was having a heart attack. I had to wean off the medication because of this. This was distressing to me because Anafranil made me emotionally feel like a million bucks, but physically made me feel dumpy."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Im a 26 yr old male with one child and another on the way. I suffer from GAD & OCD. My doctor prescribed me sertraline about 6 months ago when it got out of control. This did nothing but increase my symptoms to the point where I almost had to leave work and go into Mental Health Care. I then got put on to a specialist Psychiatrist, who put me on Clomipramine anti depressants and Quetiapine Anti Psycotics. This along with CBT has almost cured me. I am 90% normal again, just in time for my new baby boy to arrive and for me to be a good father. 100% reccomend this mix of drugs and therapy."

For Depression "This is a VERY effective Rx; it totally cured my depression & repetitive thinking, but is the polar opposite of Imipramine & amitriptyline in side effects. The others were sedating, increased my appetite, & decimated my memory, Clomipramine decreased my appetite & gave me tons of energy. My outlook changed 180 degrees. It may increase anxiety for some, but made me feel so well & happy that I wasn’t worried about anything (not didn’t care/was catatonic as on Imipramine). I’m no longer always obsessing about the minutiae to the point of being impossible to live with, fear no longer motivates me. This could make someone who is bipolar (last reviewer) more manic & takes a while to adjust your sleep pattern to, but this prescription is a Godsend. I’ve been on & off antidepresants for 35 years. I wish I found it sooner. If the other TCAs made you slow/confused, have weird skin problems rashes/acne, try this."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication paired with a small dose of Celexa literally saved my life. I have panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and GAD as well as BPD. I was addicted to Klonopin and it wasn't even working anymore, making me like a zombie. I started this medicine and within 2 weeks I could feel a change. Then by the next month I went from being a suicidally depressed insomniac with uncontrollable and obsessive thoughts to a normal person. For the first time in my entire life I feel normal, at peace. This is a God send. I seriously don't know what would have happened to me had I not found this medication. It doesn't cure BPD, but my moods are the most controlled they've ever been. There is a light at the end of the dark tunnel."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I battled with OCD since being a child but I was only diagnosed after being hospitalised in my forties. I have been taking clomipramine at 250mg a day along with antipsychotics for the last 5 years. The intrusive thoughts that used to be so crippling have greatly reduced to a level I can handle. Clomipramine saved my life, literally, as I was hospitalised twice for attempted suicide. The only downside are the side effects, for me, as a man, the impotence and loss of libido are difficult to live with but it's a price worth paying."

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I've been using Anafranil for 6 years. It has helped me a lot. On occasion I still struggle with obsessive thoughts but have been able to bring it under control both times by myself. I rated this an 8 because of dry mouth and constipation problems. Eat your fiber big time. After several years, the dry mouth problem got better and only returns when I'm under stress. I sleep well on this drug and did not sleep as well on the SSRIs."

For Premature Ejaculation "Out of nowhere I started having premature ejaculation problems so a doctor prescribed anafranil. The drug definitely worked and after I stopped taking it after a couple of months my problems were gone. The drug did make me feel pretty queasy and out of it (I threw up once) but it was as if my sex life was rebooted and my body trained to orgasm later. I recommend but don't drive or do anything important while on the drug."

For Panic Disorder "I suffered with panic attacks, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder for many years. Finally, I tried Anafranil (only 25 mg) and it was my miracle. I have been on it for almost 30 years. I have not suffered any side effects and have not had to increase the dosage. I HIGHLY recommend suggesting this medicine to your doctor if you have any of the problems. This literally saved my life."
