"My ENT prescribed cefdinir (for 21 days) along with azelastine nasal spray and methylprednisolone (12 days) for a severe sinus infection that was not relieved by taking Amox-Clav. On day 7, I got a fever. The fever was off/on for 4 days. When that subsided, the diarrhea hit. It was pale, white, and fleshy stools with stomach cramps every couple of hours. After 5 days, I saw my family doctor who did blood tests. Coming back normal, she decided my symptoms were side effects of the cefdinir. I had one day of feeling decent, and then the headache and fever came back. So far, I have missed three days of work and a weekend. Diarrhea has subsided a little. Stools are now really soft/liquidy but normal color. I'm on day 15 of 21."

"I am a 47-year-old female who has asthma. I was only breathing 200 on my peak flow meter when I should have a peak flow of 400. I had bronchitis from catching a cold. My doctor prescribed this to me, and I got a horrible headache and felt nauseous after the first pill, so I stopped taking them. I started reading about food combining, changed my diet, and shortly after, became healthier."

"I went to a clinic to get treated for my bronchitis and sinuses! I usually get the Z-pack, but this nurse practitioner decided to put me on this antibiotic instead! I am highly allergic to amoxicillin since birth, so I can’t use that. I was warned by the pharmacist that this medication has side effects and a 2% chance of having an allergic reaction, so I purchased some Benadryl just in case. The nurse practitioner who prescribed me this med told me it was 2x a day for 10 days every 12 hours and to eat something with it, such as yogurt or a probiotic. I don’t have any side effects like everyone else from the reviews I read! I don’t have any headaches! I shall see how it works!"

"I have had a sinus infection and chronic sinusitis for over two months. I took a course of Amoxicillin in the beginning and improved so much, but when I ran out of Amoxicillin, the infection came right back. My doctor now has prescribed Cefdinir. I'm on day 10 and feel much worse. My asthma has worsened so that I'm having to take more Albuterol than usual. I have horrible headaches every day. My right sinus is clogged worse than in the beginning. I have insomnia and feel anxious. I'm not sure if the diarrhea is from Cefdinir or my IBS, but I've had to take Lomotil several days this past week. The worst side effect so far has been my lightheadedness. My blood pressure is ordinarily 120/80, but it has gone up to 170/100 for the first time in my entire life, and I am 67 years old! My ears had fluid build-up at my doctor's office ten days ago, but feel much stuffier now. My cough is worse, but that could just be the asthma. I hope I start to improve once I'm off this Cefdinir."

"I have been taking this medicine for sinusitis (300 mg twice a day), or however you spell it. It has only been 1 day, so I have only taken it twice, spaced out between 12 hours. One at 7:18 am and one at 7:18 pm. I have now been awake since 4 am with an upset stomach, stomach gurgling, and my bowels are slowly turning into diarrhea. I only made a bowel movement once while taking this so far, and I can tell it is about to go down if I keep taking it :( (I am normally very constipated). As far as for my sinusitis, it has seemed to improve my sore, itchy throat a little. I guess I should stick it out and drink plenty of water to see how I feel. I just do not want to vomit. :("

"Developed sinusitis after a really bad cold. I had not rested enough and continued flying for my work. Finally got to the doctor, and he prescribed cefdinir for 10 days. After 7 days, I actually felt worse, no improvement at all. I went back to the doctor and asked him to prescribe Augmentin. 2 days into that and already feeling relief."

"Was prescribed this for suspected strep throat. I had a fever, so the doctor went ahead and prescribed this to me. First day, I had loose stools and nausea. This continued until the fifth day, I had severe muscle pain and a severe headache. It was a struggle to just walk to the bathroom. Right now, I have watery diarrhea and stomach cramps. Earlier today, I had a fever and severe body chills. Over-the-counter pain meds have not made a dent. Last night, I was tossing and turning in pain and got very little sleep. Cure worse than the cause! I've tolerated many other antibiotics very well in the past, and I will never allow my doctor to prescribe this to me again."

"I have only been taking this drug for my allergies for about 4 days, and so far, it has really helped me. No more itchy eyes, runny nose, really bad headaches, and phlegm. All of those symptoms were severe and life-alerting. I even had a big lump in my right nostril, and it is gone now. So I give it a huge thumbs up."

"I was prescribed on a Tuesday to take cefdinir for a sinus infection (alongside a steroid, which I only took for a day). Tuesday went fine, I felt better. Wed PM before my fourth dosage, I had intense stomach pain (I can normally handle stomach pain/cramps) and was advised to eat something. Felt better and took my 4th pill. Woke up around 3 am Thursday, and I could taste the pill in my mouth (indigestion/reflux). Pushed it off, went to sleep, and woke up an hour later, and I thought I was dying on the toilet. Stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting (at the same time) and this weird finger cramp where I couldn’t move my fingers, along with panic/shallow breathing. This lasted off and on for almost two hours (mostly diarrhea), and I was too scared to finish the RX."

"My ENT doctor prescribed Cefdinir for my sinus infection. At day three, I thought that the green discharge in my nose was getting less. But it’s come on strong again at day five. The side effects are constant, mild headache and then screaming headaches at night. Fortunately, ibuprofen and acetaminophen get rid of them at night. Also, diarrhea is a constant companion with this drug. I can’t even rate it, I am so upset. Loaded with side effects and no positive effects. I don't like writing bad reviews because my kids are doctors, but folks, here you go! My observation is that doctors are no different in their rally points than athletes. The latest and greatest new thing will be prescribed because the drug companies are all over them like flies on flypaper. Unfortunately, my observation is that it takes a lot to undo this new reliance on the 'greatest new thing.' I wish you luck in dealing with a sinus infection, but I am putting myself on amoxicillin today."

Cefdinir "This medicine made me feel worse than the original symptoms. I usually have a high tolerance for meds, don’t usually get dizzy or feel nauseous ever. But this medicine made me feel as if I was suffering from being hungover. I would drive 8 hours later after taking the meds and would feel like I could black out whenever. I would randomly feel nauseous. The headaches were a constant theme. Now that I’ve read the comments, I can attribute some of the diarrhea I had to it. I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Doxycycline, so I’m on day 4 and I feel better but still suffer from a cough."

"Just got this medication for the first time for a sinus infection. After reading the reviews, I'm kinda scared to take it. Gonna start my first dose tomorrow after I get off work. Hope I don't have all the side effects everyone is having. I already have Crohn's and was told this medication is easy on the GI tract, and I will feel 100% better in 2 days. We shall see."

"The cefdinir seemed to help. I had very thick drainage in the back of my throat for several months. However, on day 8 of the antibiotic, I got a fever…fairly low of about 100.5. But horrible body aches. Far worse than what I had with Covid and a fever of 103. Then the diarrhea started. Couldn't stay away from the bathroom. Horrible stomach pain as well. I'll never take it again."

"I took cefdinir in combination with methylprednisolone for a suspected sinus infection. I took it every 12 hours for 10 days. We didn't confirm for sure that I had a sinus infection, but my symptoms were gone by the last day of cefdinir. I did experience gas and diarrhea for the first 5 days of taking cefdinir, but it was manageable and did not interfere with my daily life. The side effects tapered off and stopped occurring by day 6. My doctor recommended that I take a probiotic while taking cefdinir, so every day I took two probiotics 6 hours after the first dose of the day. It seemed like eating lots of fiber helped lessen the gas and diarrhea as well. I wasn't sure that this drug was helping at first because I expected my symptoms to get better very rapidly, but my symptoms got better slowly and gradually, and I didn't feel fully back to normal until day 9. Unless your side effects are severe, be patient and complete your antibiotics, it's worth it."

"For the most part, this medicine did help me clear my mucus and congestion, but it gave me tinnitus in my left ear (buzzing sound), and now when I yawn, that buzzing sound is amplified. Second, the thing which I believe it did was give me ear pain. Even though I was given this for a supposedly sinus infection, I didn’t think I had an infection in the first place. I didn’t have much stomach issue, as I was taking a probiotic while taking it, so that helped a lot."

"I was originally allergic to penicillin and sulfa drugs but eventually grew out of all my allergies, even my cat and dog allergies. So this is what my doctor gave me after I caught a bad sinus infection from a flight. I took two 300 mg in the morning with food for 10 days, and I got a little heartburn at first, but the medicine seemed to help instantly and I would recommend it."

"Bad sinus infection. Used a neti pot and drove it into my ear. ENT doctor prescribed cefdinir 300 mg capsules for 5 days, twice a day. I didn't see results until days 3 and 4. On day 5, revisited ENT. Prescribed another 5 days. Continuing on."

"I'm sensitive to meds and suffer from bad anxiety, but Omnicef is tolerable. Not bad. This is my second favorite antibiotic, followed by another one that doesn't treat sinuses, so if I have sinusitis, my options are quite limited. Side effects on days 1-4 are nonexistent, and then from days 5-10, small and manageable. Maybe a small, short-lived stomach ache on the rare occasion, but tolerable. I don't get an upset stomach. I'll also have minor insomnia, but nothing bad."

"I was given 300 mg of cefdinir 2x a day for 10 days. It took a while to actually start working, and everything was going fine until day 9 of antibiotics. I started itching, but didn’t think much of it as I have dry skin. However, I have completed all of my medicine, and my itching has gotten worse. I would not recommend this medicine. I have NEVER had a reaction to medication before."

"I frequently get sinusitis bronchitis. I have a low immune system. I am liking this med and am feeling a little better almost 24 hours later. I don’t like the upset stomach and have to be near a bathroom, but it’s worth it to be able to breathe and get rid of this nagging cough and wheezing, etc."

"I have had a sinus infection and ear infection for months on end. I was prescribed this and had been suffering severe constipation before. No more constipation, I have to take it easy because exertion makes the digestive issues worse, but I understand the need to cleanse the system, and for some that is diarrhea and vomit. Those that have allergic reactions, I'm sorry, but it isn't a reason to take it off the market, allergic reactions to meds should always be looked at. I'm hoping this will finally get rid of my infections. Can't smell and have loss of hearing. It sucks."
