Zostrix (capsaicin) for Pain "I damaged knee in accident 3 weeks ago. Now I can't walk. This cream has made no difference to the high level of pain. But then the product sheet only says that it MAY work in 4-6 weeks. So, one tube a week at $21.95 x 6... for something that MAY work! Don't 'they', whoever they are, do any deep testing and evaluation of these products or do they use the market to try them out more profitably? And what's in it? 0.025% chilli. (capsaicin). Try rubbing a chilli in where it hurts, or sprinkle chilli powder on. It may help. It wont cost much."

For Osteoarthritis "I used this capsaicin topical cream for severe neck and shoulder pain due to cervical spondylosis and it worked wonderfully. There is a burning sensation when first applied and for a while after that, but it truly helps. I use a small amount in the morning and a larger amount in the evening. This and gabapentin are the only things that have made my neck pain tolerable."

For Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy "The product works very well for me. I applied it to my feet, rubbed it into the skin and I can sleep without pain most of the night. However, after reading the side effects, I have noticed an insignificant tightning in my chest...small but noticeable skeletal type discomfort, almost like you had been working out and got tight from exercise. Ill review with my doctor, but it works and I use it as needed"

For Postherpetic Neuralgia "Dr. prescribed this for treatment of my shingles pain. Instructed to use 4 x a day. The pain was so severe I cried my eyes out loud enough for my mom to wake up. She had to wipe it off and the pain still continued for 40 mins. When it was off we could see my whole back was red and burnt. Awful pain when applied and did not help the condition of the shingles."

For Peripheral Neuropathy "If you have peripheral neuropathy or a small nerve fiber neuropathy, DO NOT USE capsaicin cream!!! Or use with caution! Pain was a 10 out of 10 and it only got worse over the hours.. pro tip... to neutralize, apply vinegar and then sour cream and let sit if you can.. then rinse off and apply again until you can manage with the burning. The only reason it somewhat worked is because I was in so much pain I didn’t feel my nerve or joint pain at the moment.."

Capzasin (capsaicin) for Pain "I applied to my neck for pain. It did get rid of the neck pain but I think that’s because the burning feeling of the medication masked the pain. I felt like my neck was severely sun burned. I was camping and the burning started when I went outside in the Texas heat. It felt fine inside. Wash your hands. I got some on my nose and eye when I rubbed it. That was pretty bad."

For Pain "I like it, it burns but that is nothing compared to back pain, which can be crippling. It does not stop pain I found, it's just nice to have my brain focus on something else as well as back pain. Pain from this cream is like sunburn, and I recommend not wearing tight clothing over the area as it seems to sweat and get hotter, unless it's just me who gets that."

Zostrix (capsaicin) "first 2 days applied to thigh due to burning bursa pain I had no burning sensation from zostrix and 1 month later still none when applying. First 2 days this was great for bursa pain but now while bursa pain is less results not as good as first 2 days. I apply 4x daily as per directions can sometimes get a chili taste in my mouth. Will continue to use as this is the best option I have."

For Postherpetic Neuralgia "Used on my Torso to relief pain post shingles virus. It burned so badly that I considered going to hospital! After 6 hours, 2 showers and what felt like worsening pain I soaked the area in dishwashing liquid which has relieved the burning marginally! Would not recommend nor will I use again!"

For Osteoarthritis "Have arthritis in both feet and applied capsaicin cream this morning, my feet are now worse than ever, I appreciate burning sensation due to application but it's like someone had a blowtorch on my feet, I'm afraid I'd rather suffer the pain of arthritis than use this product. I'm in more pain now with burning, sorry but not for me, my feet are on fire so how does that substitute arthritic pain, NOT GOOD PAIN KILLER MORE OF A PAIN MAKER"

Capzasin-P (capsaicin) for Osteoarthritis "I have arthritis in my knee, decided to try Capzasin, used a very small amount, It literally set me on "fire" I immediately jumped in the tub and drenched with cold water, that didn't even stop the burning, it lasted for hours, thought I was gonna have to go to the ER!!!"

For Pain "Put a small amount on the base of my thumb for arthritis pain (recommended by my doctor). Seemed fine at first. 6 hours later it feels like my hand is on fire. Also bumped my neck with my hand and that area started burning as well as having a red area much larger than what I touched. Cold and aloe did nothing to help it feel better. It's now 12:30 a.m and I am in terrible pain (I have a pretty high pain tolerance if that tells you anything) and have to be up at 4:00 a.m. for work. I honestly don't know how I can keep using this to 'get used to it". The pharmacist was SO helpful...NOT. She said not to use cold if that makes it worse...wow. I will never use this again ($12 down the drain) and NEVER recommend it. I don't do reviews but knew I had to for this. I hope it helps someone making a decision to try it or not. I wish I would have researched first but figured if my doctor recommended it then it would be a good option."

Capzasin-HP (capsaicin) for Postherpetic Neuralgia "Works well for my major post-spine fusion surgery causing foot leg and back neuropathy pain going on my second year. People saying it is worse than the pain itself don't know what real pain is and should be using Vicks Tiger Balm or maybe baby aspirin. This stuff works with taking Turmeric capsules as an anti-inflammatory. Just learn to use it wisely and when really needed so as not to get desensitized to it. It's not a cure-all but definitely helps relieve the pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I have a bad knee that has been burning for a couple of days. I decided to try this and woke up 2 hours later, with a burning sensation. This sensation was so bad, I had to wake up, and try and wash that area. Even after washing the area, the burning sensation continued. I would not recommend this to anyone."

For Neuropathic Pain "I had a really bad experience using capsaicin. My. husband rubbed it into my shoulder when I had severe tendonitis, thinking it would reduce the pain. It created such severe burning and itching that I had to shower immediately to get it off, and it didn't relieve it. Months later, my husband had severe pain due to trigger finger. Thinking I might have had an allergic reaction, we applied it to his finger. Again, severe burning and itching that caused his sleep to be disrupted. I wrapped a cold wash cloth around his finger and after awhile it started burning again. I threw the rest of the tube in the trash. Big warning: don't use this unless you don't mind severe burning and itching."

For Pain "Well what can I say. When this cream works, it is a god send. But it works for my back injury only roughly 30% of the time that I use it (if I’m lucky). It also only works when I’m active so is no good as a remedy if I’m laid up in bed with the pain. It seems to work WITH my body. So is not the best cream. But like I said, when it does work, I have some decent relief from my pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I recommend this product if you have pain. I would like to say that this is the best of two evils, because it burns at the start when you first start to use it. It is really important to read the instructions to use it properly. But nice to relocate the pain a little. For my part, the product works very well. However, if you do not have major pain, the product will be worse for you. Anyway, a great product to measure your pain level "

For Pain "After a fall I used a topical cream, containing Capsicum Oleoresin 0.0625% by volume and Capsaicin 0.025% by volume, as the only active ingredient, on my lower back and one leg. This cream also contained MSM and Glucosamine. I will mention that due to more than several medical conditions involving my joints and muscles, I have been on long term Oxycontin 20 mg, twice daily and Lyrica 150 mg, three times daily. The pain from the fall was so intense, the oral meds were not enough. The cream was applied one time only. There was no warming/cooling sensation ever felt. Seven days from that application, I would wake at night feeling like I was on a heating pad set at super hot overdrive. This was extremely painful with the pain lasting 15-45 minutes. I am wondering how much longer this is going to last? This has happened the last 5 nights. I would also like to add that the cream was very effective at easing the extreme pain I was in."

For Osteoarthritis "If I could post a picture of what this cream did to me! Picture the worst burning EVER! It took several wipes and a shower to get it off my back and it still had bad pain from middle to the tailbone area which was red. I was in SO much pain from this medicine it felt like my skin was on fire. I tried putting lidocaine spray on it and the the spray just melted onto my skin"

Zostrix (capsaicin) for Osteoarthritis "Started using it for my knees. Use gloves when you put it on. I did not feel a thing (No Burning or stinging) when I started using it. Then I put my knee brace on and my knees started heating up. Felt great. Use very little. Expensive $25 for a tube. It is worth it."

Zostrix-HP (capsaicin) for Pain "I was prescribed Gabapentin at high level’s / Naproxen/ celebrex for pain and was not working so well. I asked Dr for prescription for Zostrix hp 0.075 topical cream for compressed nerve in hip which had caused numbness hot shooting pain on outer leg above the knee. First time I applied, yes there was some burning, but the secret is to use very little amount. After second application burning was less. This stuff is amazing works as described. Nerve pain in leg reduced by 60 % by second day! Now I can sleep and enjoy the whole day pain free! Note: wear gloves to apply and use 4 times a day the longer you use the cream the less pain your in! Yes I would highly recommend this for Nerve pain and muscle and joint pain! Finally something that works!"
