"Just started this, and blood pressure was normal to start. It is being used to protect kidneys from spikes in BP. So, blood pressure was fine before taking, then had a spike, then blood pressure was lower than before. Then felt sort of pressure in the chest, sort of a sinking feeling in the chest. Then BP spikes again, and now ear ringing. It could be the spike after the chest feeling came from anxiety, but now BP is higher than wanted. It may be the extra ingredients in the drug or the drug itself. I am allergic to preservatives."

""May take up to 6 weeks for full effect." I was assaulted, hit in the head. I lost consciousness for about 5 seconds. I also have an undiagnosed "thing" (it's not a blood clot, unlikely to be a tumor according to the CT specialist). I am waiting for an MRI. I am male, weigh 125 lbs, about 5'10. I was 161/122 BPM 76. I took 8 mg about 16 hours ago. 123/88 BPM 80. I felt like I put my head through the wall. Obviously, I don't feel perfect. But my headache has gone from 7 to 3, ten being pain so bad you lose consciousness. I do have "post-concussion syndrome". This drug is reducing my blood pressure with certainty. It does make me tired. I am a little dizzy. My nose is running into my throat a bit more. Don't ignore your body. I was throwing up for 3 months. This drug lowers blood pressure, and I am perhaps mildly more dizzy. We'll see in the future what is wrong. I still have a headache, but my BP is good again."

"I use 8 mg for over 1 year now. Will say okay. But I was on ramipril 10 mg before with amlodipine 5 mg and was perfect. But after swollen ankles, the GP told me to take amlodipine every 2 days. It worked! But because my HBP went down, the GP decided to stop both and replaced them with candesartan 8 mg. No change in my HBP, it was just at the borderline. It was better with ramipril every day and amlodipine every 2 days."

"My doctor prescribed 8 mg candesartan, lowering my blood pressure from 160/80 to 140/80. Blood test came back and no deterioration in my kidney function. The doctor wanted me to increase the dosage to 16 mg. I resisted and said I’d take an additional 4 mg tablet daily. Three weeks later, my blood pressure is down to 129/80, but my kidney function has declined and I was fainting. Saw another doctor who told me to take only 8 mg dosage and will reassess in a month’s time."

"I was on this medication a few years ago and had to stop it on 8 mg. The doctor put me on so many different meds that all gave me side effects. This time I have been on 8 mg for 6 weeks, flu-like symptoms. Like a dull ache in my legs and back all the time, bad headaches. Depression and anxiety cut down to 4 mg and feel my body back to normal, even my pulse rate tinnitus is quieter."

"I've been taking candesartan for approximately 2 weeks for very high blood pressure at 8 mg twice a day, in the mornings and evenings. So far, it's brought my blood pressure down nicely to normal levels that are also quite changeable throughout the day, however, my blood pressure was in the region of 180/90 to start with. I am happy with how this drug is helping. Side effects so far have been, from day one, slight tinnitus in one ear, weird feelings in my arms, shakiness and weakness, especially in the mornings, and heart palpitations occasionally. Also, some low-key anxiety and breathlessness, none of which is extreme, so I'm battling through. I have had migraines with aura for many years and am hoping this will be helped also. So far, I have had one whilst taking this drug...we will see how it continues. For me, the side effects are manageable so far, and it's better than risking a stroke or heart attack!"

"I am 33 and male. Light, only 125 lbs. I have 2 brain lesions (genetically malformed red blood cells), left behind speech, right in the ~center of ocular. Waiting to see if they grow. Ugh! I need to keep my blood pressure down. 1 on the left is 7 mm in diameter. My pressure is always up. The prescribing doctor, a neurologist, didn't tell me much, he is very busy. 8 mg is a fair-sized dose. A teledoctor doubled it to 16 mg, I had some overdose symptoms. I lowered it back to 8 mg. I'm OK now. I find food in my stomach is very helpful. Most importantly, take it about the same time of day. I'm not perfect, but it keeps it steady for me at 125/88. I need food and have trouble throwing up. It's important to let this drug enter your system. I've had some bad days."

"I am entering week 9 of taking this. I called a tele-Dr. It was wearing off after 10-ish hours. They doubled my dose to 2x a day. Sad to say: I am in constant hypertension. 131 Sys over 98 Dia BPM 131. Good thing I am young and fit. I'm only in my early 30s. After an MRI, I know it is a genetic mutation in blood cells. 'A cavern.' I'm about to consult a Dr. about dosing or go to the hospital for a 4th time. They want to schedule an MRI in 6+ months to see if it's grown. I am already bedridden. My pressure and heart rate are dangerously high. Almost as bad as when I started. (160/120 Ouch!) I am sweating and have a terrible headache. Oh my, very bad, 1G of Tylenol doesn't put a dent in it. Finding the right dose is hard. The brain lesion is in the 'Speech/Make you throw up' part of the brain. On the left, deep behind the ear, speech center. Headache, confusion. 6+ Mon. Drug not working well as hoped. It's keeping mine down from 160/120 to 186/95. BPM 130! I feel sick."

"Does lower BP at 16 mg. But the cost is headaches, neck pain & stiffness? Pounding heartbeat. Tingling in fingers & legs, feet. Stomach cramps. Insomnia. Muscle, joint pain everywhere. Congestion."

"I feel that this medication caused excessive sleepiness. I found myself sleeping for 12 to 14 hours, and even then struggling to get out of bed. I discontinued it, and my sleep returned to normal. I would suggest starting very cautiously, at a low dose. If you get the right dose, the side effect of extra sleep could even be of benefit to those sleeping too little. But in my case, even a low dose made me too sleepy. I don’t know what it could have done for my blood pressure because I didn’t take it long enough to see any effects."
