"I have been on Atacand Plus 32mg for the last 10 years after a stroke, I was allergic to other medications and have been very happy with them as my BP rarely gets above 130. I also take Lercandipine 20 mg recently I've started having back aches and flu like symptoms I've also lost my appetite have no energy just feel exhausted all the time so think it's time to discuss with doctor if a change of medication is needed I don't know if Atacand can build up in the body or not. I have blood tests regularly and they have always been good"

"I’ve been taking 4mg Candesartan for approximately 3 months. Didn’t do anything to lower my BP. So I then started taking 8mg & my sinuses got so bad my eyes were constantly watering to the point that my eyes were swelling, red from wiping them all day. I am coming off them."

"Was having very irregular heartbeats and b.p. around 140/82 so decided to restart Candesartan after 8 months. Initially took 16mg mornings but did not improve either BP, or erratic beats. So discussed with GP and now take 8mg mornings and 8mg bedtime. Well what a difference. Beats now 54-62 average and BP now 119/69 averaged over the last two of three measurements. Now the beats are regular my stamina and tiredness have both gone to the better. No other side effects noted. 75 yrs. Comfortable taking this medication for the present."

"Have been taking this medication for 8 days. From day 2 I have had severe back pain, which is only relieved by lying down, but once I’m up walking for a few minutes the pain returns. I also feel weak all over. My blood pressure has not got any better. I want to know if the back pain will resolve in the short term or is this constant while on this medication? Also how long before my BP will improve? My cardiologist has told me to try Amlodipine 5mg…. I don’t know what to do as the side effects to this drug seems worse??"

"I have had a terrible time with this medication. Has not brought my blood pressure down. I have been having heart palpitations, sharp pains in my chest that is so severe I thought I was having a heart attack also troubles breathing. I was fine on a lower dose with side effects but it wasn't bringing my blood pressure down so the doctor put it up to 24mg from 8mg. I hope other people have better luck with it. Just wanted to let people know if your having these symptoms that's what it is. Thanks"

"I have only taken this drug at 8 mg for a week, but already have stuffy, burning, nasal congestion issues. Also, post nasal mucus causing a constant cough especially at night. Heart rate is 15 points higher with a jittery feeling all day. Loopy, lightheaded and exhaustion which includes difficulty walking from seemingly weak legs. Was hopeful, as other ARBs give me migraines with auras. Will have to scratch this off my list too. Bad medication for me. Wish others would mention what alternative BP med is working for them."

"Was put on this drug at 8 mg and later, the doctor increased it to 16 mg. I developed tinnitus after the increase to 16 mg. I can't sleep; I reduced to 8 mg, the tinnitus is less severe but still there. Going to my doctor to discuss other meds."

"Trialing this drug due to side effects from similar antihypertensive. Initially, polyuria continued as well as very low BP, extreme fatigue/breathlessness on minor exertion with some mild chest pain and nausea. The dose was halved and blood pressure increased to normal and Polyuria stopped but the rest of the symptoms continue. Trying to get in to see a doctor. Yesterday ambulance was sent for fear I was having a heart attack. I suspect they are drug side effects."

"I feel that this medication caused excessive sleepiness. I found myself sleeping for 12 to 14 hours, and even then struggling to get out of bed. I discontinued it and my sleep returned to normal. I would suggest starting very cautiously, at a low dose. If you get the right dose, the side effect of extra sleep could even be of benefit to those sleeping too little. But in my case, even a low dose made me too sleepy. I don’t know what it could have done for my blood pressure because I didn’t take it long enough to see any effects."

"Just started this and blood pressure was normal to start it is being used to protect kidneys from spikes in BP. So blood pressure was fine before taking then had a spike then blood pressure was lower than before. Then felt sort of pressure on chest sort of sinking feeling in chest. Then BP spikes again and now ear ringing. It could be the spike after the chest feeling came from anxiety but now bp higher than wanted. It may be the extra ingredients in the drug or the drug itself. I am allergic to preservatives ."

"High blood pressure and migraine preventative I was diagnosed with hypertension and was given 2mg per day candesartan which was fine for me and lowered blood pressure. Started getting worsening migraines (have had these for 20+ years) so it was decided that candesartan to increase to 8mg per day - absolute disaster, intense blurred vision within 24 hours, unable to work, drive etc - have stopped and am waiting for this to resolve, horrible experience."

"I use 8mg for over 1 year now. Will say ok. But I was on ramipril 10mg before with amilopidine 5mg and was perfect. But after swollen ankles the GP told me to take amilopidine every 2 days. It worked! But because my HBP went down GP decided to stop both and replaced by candesartan 8mg. No change in my HBP it was just at the borderline. It was better with ramipril every day and amilopidine every 2 days."

"I was on this medication a few years ago and had to stop it on 8 mg. Doctor put me on so many different meds that all gave me side effect. This time I have been on 8 mg for 6 weeks flu like symptoms. Like a dull ache in legs and back all the time bad headaches. Depression and anxiety cut down to 4 mg and feel my body back to normal even my pulstate tinnitus is quieter"

"I've been taking candesartan for approx 2 weeks for very high blood pressure at 8mg twice a day mornings and evenings, so far its brought my bp down nicely to normal levels, that are also quite changeable throughout the day, however as my bp was in the region of 180/90 to start with. I am happy with how this drug is helping, side effects so far have been from day one slight tinnitus in one ear, weird feelings in my arms, shakiness and weakness, especially mornings and heart palpitations occasionally, also some low key anxiety and breathlessness, none of which is extreme so I'm battling through. I have had migraine with aura for many years and am hoping this will be helped also, so far have had one whilst taking this drug...we will see how it continues...for me the side effects are manageable so far and its better than risking a stroke or heart attack!"

"I started using candesartan 8mg since February 23.... Initially, it took two weeks to get adjusted. Later on, my BP got controlled and I never had a BP spike. But the sad side is, for initially unknown reasons, I had started dizziness on and off.... Impacted my daily routine also; at the time since May 23, I started with a constant sore throat and coughing issue. For these issues, only God knows how I have been visiting numerous doctors. Took various antihistamines, antiallergy, and neuro-related medicines for the dizziness issue. But later on, a cardiologist suggested me to change my BP medicine, and I switched to valsartan 80 mg. And my cough disappeared. So be careful before taking candesartan for BP."
