Auvelity (bupropion / dextromethorphan) "I have been on a variety of antidepressants for the past 15 years. I started Effexor about 6 months ago, and it was life-changing, but I still had depression and my anxiety was paralyzing. My psychiatrist put me on Klonopin for anxiety and Auvelity for depression. I was very hopeful this would be the combination that would allow me to function. The first week, I felt amazing despite having intense nausea and generally feeling kinda loopy like being on a pain pill. By week 2, those side effects went away. Now, I can’t wake up and can’t stay awake during the day. At first, it was just general tiredness, but now I fall asleep throughout the day, including while driving, regardless of how much caffeine I have had to help me stay awake. Although my depression has decreased, I go through intense and unexpected mood swings. I can be extremely happy and excited about an upcoming event and then randomly fall into a deep depression while on the way there. After a bit, I’m fine again."

"First of all, I didn't take the brand name which costs over $1000 a month. Most people are not aware that dextromethorphan is an over the counter cough suppressant. There is no need to pay the exorbitant price that the pharmaceutical company has set for this drug combination. You just need a prescription for generic buproprion and purchase a sustained release dextromethorphan over the counter. This is what I did, and I felt a difference in my mood on day 2. I am a hospital pharmacist who has tried every antidepressant on the market. I am now treatment resistant and decided to add dextromethorphan to my current antidepressant. I am pleased to report that I have had a positive response. Please don't pay the exorbitant price for the name brand. I am giving this drug combo an 8 out of 10 since I have only been on it for a few days. I will update later."

Auvelity (bupropion / dextromethorphan) "I started taking Auvelity as a supplement to my antidepressant as I became resistant to treatment. At first, I took one a day. I didn’t see much difference. So, my doc switched to 2 a day. I think it helped. But I started having a very dry mouth. It is affecting me, and I am not sure what to do about that."

"Switched from Duloxetine to Bupropion due to RBD. Sleep was better but had uncontrollable crying at inappropriate times. Avelity ER helps me control the crying and I am more relaxed."

Auvelity (bupropion / dextromethorphan) "For reference, I’ve been on Wellbutrin and Effexor for several years. I stopped the Wellbutrin when starting Auvelity and I just started weaning off the Effexor this weekend, so it’s too early to tell. However, since I do feel “lighter” already I’m hopeful. The first couple of days at the full dose caused some dizziness and mania about two hours after taking but both have decreased. I took the second dose a little later last night and now I feel extreme fatigue so I’m going to be more diligent about taking it earlier. The doctor said the side effects should go away soon so I’ll update here. Again, I’m hopeful!"
