For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on every antidepressant over the past 40 years, and they all have given me just enough help to get by. This Auvelity is a wonder drug. I’m up to taking 2 tablets a day, and I’m only 7 days in, and I feel like a normal human being. I’m smiling, joking around with people. I can’t believe only 7 days in and I feel this good. It’s amazing. And my insurance covered it!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication is the only medication that has worked for me. I have bipolar depression as well as anxiety, and this medication has changed my life but with some side effects. My anxiety is higher now, and it is easier to trigger with sodas. :( I have horrible heartburn. I can stay awake for a long time and have to take some sleeping medication to help me sleep. The biggest and worst side effect here is sexual function problems, like getting and keeping erections and trouble climaxing. My libido went down some. I have to take Cialis now. Bummer. Sexual function problems were the reason why I switched to lithium for about two weeks, but I switched right back to Auvelity because the lithium made EVERYTHING worse. My moods were all over the place and my anxiety was awful."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking Auvelity for about a week. While the medication is working and my mood is better, the sexual side effects are not. I cannot find anywhere if the side effects diminish over time. The mood is great, energy is back, motivation, and everything. The nausea is okay."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been on Auvelity for almost 2 months after taking Wellbutrin for 10+ years. Auvelity is vastly superior to Wellbutrin in my experience. Within a few days, I felt my heaviness lifting and a peaceful lightness emerging. I find joy and happiness in small things again and enjoy spending time with my kids, including one with serious special needs. Also, with the chaos that can occur with 4 kids, including 1 with severe autism, my level of agitation is greatly reduced with minimal yelling, when they inevitably misbehave. I’m much more effective in staying calm and productively parenting. I feel a deeper connection with myself, others, and the world. My former intense anxiety is greatly reduced, I’m kinder and more compassionate. I’ve gone from about 8 drinks per week to no need to drink or self-medicate in 60 days. Auvelity is beyond an antidepressant, it’s a physically and spiritually uplifting wonder drug."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was on Wellbutrin for years for mild depression and severe ADHD. It helped keep me motivated and more organized than usual. I started Auvelity a week ago and do think it is helping. I generally feel less negative and worried. Less rumination in my head. But physically, I have had side effects and don't think I can increase to the full dose. I feel a little dissociated 1-2 hours after taking it - light-headed, trouble concentrating, physically buzzy and loopy. Once that passes, I feel a slight nausea come and go throughout the day. I also yawn a lot. I'll give it a month at 1 tablet and see how it goes."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication has changed my life. I was scared to try it after so many bad experiences, but it began working in only 30 minutes on Day 1. My anxiety lifted. Dark thoughts were simply not there. After a month, I began taking two per day, and that is the magic number. Now I laugh at my husband’s bad jokes, am eager to start my days, and (most importantly of all) can paint again. The only negative side effect has been a worsening of the ability to read fine print. But I’ll take that over depression any day. Oh—add the cost. I’m not eligible for Auvelity’s discounts because I’m on Medicare. I had to find a plan that had a low out-of-pocket cost for the year ($2,000)."

"I was taking Zoloft but had experienced sexual side effects and this medication was recommended by my psychiatrist. I understood that it was related to Wellbutrin. I had taken Wellbutrin before with no problems. Auvelity worked well for me. I also noticed the medication evened out my downtime for my carbidopa-levodopa taken for my Parkinson's. Auvelity seemed to spread the dopamine in the carbidopa-levodopa thereby resulting in less downtime of PD medication and less tremor symptoms."

"This is week 2 of Auvelity. My bereavement grief over losing our only daughter continues. I have been treatment-resistant. I had been on Viibryd and Buprenorphine for 3 years, but felt the Viibryd was ineffective and giving me night sweats and nightmares. I called my doctor. He prescribed Auvelity twice a day. It has been a game changer for me. No more feelings of awakening with dread for the day to come. No more night sweats and nightmares. Auvelity worked within the first week and only gets better. It is costly, even with our prescription plan, but worth every penny. I was extremely reluctant to switch meds after so many fails, but this one is the ticket! For Major Depressive Disorder "I took Auvelity for about 3 months. I suffer from MDD, SAD, and GAD. I also work in health care and am on my feet all day. I felt a difference in my energy after the first few doses of this med. It helped me tremendously that first month when I was suffering with depression. After the next few months, I had to stop taking this med due to my severe GAD and insomnia. I think this med is excellent and effective with individuals with treatment-resistant depression, who suffer more from depression vs. anxiety. Some of us, like me :), just have too much anxiety to tolerate it. I am not saying this med causes anxiety, I cannot give it a bad rep because it truly did help my seasonal depression/MDD episodes, and I am thankful that I was able to take this medication! I just need something less stimulating due to my anxiety and insomnia. If you are suffering deeply with MDD and cannot get relief from a regular SSRI, I recommend it. I hope it helps you like it did for me when I needed it :)"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started taking Auvelity on Mon, 8/14/23. I was prescribed 1 tablet every 12 hours. I also take 200mg of sertraline daily and 10mg of buspirone daily. I felt my depression lift within 24 hours of starting Auvelity. This medication was amazing and I had a new outlook on life again, this time without the damaging side effects ECT. However, by Friday evening, 8/18, I was experiencing a severe headache, dizziness, nausea, and a 'high' feeling like I was on illegal drugs. On Saturday, I started feeling jerky movements in my muscles, and I was getting double vision. On Sunday, I was sent to the ER via ambulance. I had Serotonin Syndrome. This was NOT THE MEDICATION'S FAULT. My prescriber had not decreased my other SSRIs. On Monday, 8/21, buspirone was discontinued, and sertraline decreased to 50mg at night. Auvelity was changed to once daily. I know it's going to take a while for my body to adjust, but today is Friday, 8/25, and I'm feeling really 'loopy' and out of it."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on antidepressants all my life. I have taken all medications available in the market. I started Auvelity 3 days ago. I was told to stop my two other antidepressants the day I started Auvelity. I have an enormous feeling of anxiety and despair. I am extremely depressed, unmotivated, flat affect. I don't want to do anything except hide under the covers. The only problem is that my body won't allow me to relax because I have anxiety and restlessness. It's Sunday. I will stick with the medication, but I think I feel worse."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Six months on this medication. I have suffered from MDD for decades and meds have pooped out, especially when there is a trigger in my life that adds distress. I am still doing well. It took 2 months for it to really start working, but after 6 weeks I really enjoyed conversations again. Those who have diarrhea, I did too and it gets better. Discount card if you have insurance is a blessing. It being a brand new type of medication that targets glutamate should bring hope to many."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Currently cross-tapering off Zoloft and starting Auvelity. I'm about 5 days in and WOW!!!! The difference I feel so soon, and I'm only taking half a dose?!!! I am amazed. I am 22 and have been diagnosed with MDD, OCD, panic disorder, and anxiety. I am finally enjoying life and starting to wonder if this is what “normal” feels like! I'm excited to see the full effect after completely stopping Zoloft and taking the full dose of Auvelity."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been taking this medication for six weeks. It is a life changer. If you also take ketamine infusions, 100% will change your life. I started experiencing some side effects like sleepiness probably after 3-3.5 weeks from the start. I am okay with this side effect. I didn't feel that good since 2005. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't want to cover it anymore. Not sure what I would do without it. Tried many different prescriptions. ketamine infusions help, but they're crazy pricey, and you need to do it every four weeks. This medication is a game changer."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was about to give up. 30 years trying to find treatment that worked for my MDD. My psychiatrist had gotten some samples of Auvelity that morning, and he recommended I try it. Skeptical that it would work, and since I didn't have to wean myself off the antidepressant I was on, I took one on the way home. About 10 minutes later, it was like a switch was flicked. The heaviness I'd felt disappeared, everything was brighter, and I felt better than I had in 25 years. I was amazed at how fast it worked for me. 3 months later, and it's still working. I'm a new person, enjoying my life instead of sitting in the darkness of my room. The only side effect I have is sudden muscle movement, but it is slight and nonobtrusive. No facial tics. My doc said it was not usual to have such instant results, but many report that they feel better in just days after starting Auvelity. I'm still pinching myself, so happy now with my new life!"

"Auvelity is best for me. I have tried numerous medications, and it helped with anxiety. It also improved my sleep. It is not recommended for those under 22. The dosage is fixed, so please do not increase it as it may cause unwanted side effects."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on a variety of antidepressants for the past 15 years. I started Effexor about 6 months ago, and it was life-changing, but I still had depression and my anxiety was paralyzing. My psychiatrist put me on Klonopin for anxiety and Auvelity for depression. I was very hopeful this would be the combination that would allow me to function. The first week, I felt amazing despite having intense nausea and generally feeling kinda loopy like being on a pain pill. By week 2, those side effects went away. Now, I can’t wake up and can’t stay awake during the day. At first, it was just general tiredness, but now I fall asleep throughout the day, including while driving, regardless of how much caffeine I have had to help me stay awake. Although my depression has decreased, I go through intense and unexpected mood swings. I can be extremely happy and excited about an upcoming event and then randomly fall into a deep depression while on the way there. After a bit, I’m fine again."

I've tried many antidepressants over 12 long, frustrating years and never saw results that were anything better than slight improvement of some symptoms. Then even the tiny improvements would disappear after a few months. From what I've read so far about Auvelity, my current symptoms and psychiatric history are in line with the kind of patient this medication is designed to help. That being the case, I am writing this review the day before I begin taking Auvelity and want to update my experience in real time. In 12 years of seeking relief from overwhelming depression, this is the first I've ever heard of a depression medication that takes fewer than 8 weeks to show any results. I'm encouraged by the clinical results I've looked into. I'm giving a 10/10 rating because it won't allow me to not choose a number, and I don't want to drag the average down if this ends up being amazing. (If not, I will say so!)"

For Major Depressive Disorder "My experience with Auvelity has been positive. I started feeling better after 2 days on Auvelity. I was depressed for 4 months previously. I felt better for almost 3 months when I relapsed and was depressed for over 2 months while on Auvelity. Although it didn't put me into remission, I believe it shortened the cycle and I felt better when coming out of a depression. I definitely want to continue taking this cutting-edge medicine. I think they are onto something, targeting the NMDA receptors, since all other SSRI drugs haven't worked long-term for me. I've had no side effects while on this drug."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been suffering major depression, anxiety since college graduation. That was 50 years ago. Since then, I have tried EVERY SRI, SNRI, and other classic antidepressants with ZERO positive effects. Waiting the 10-14 days to feel a therapeutic effect was always and every time completely disappointing. FINALLY, my doctor suggested Auvelity. Within only a few days, I noticed I was feeling better, it was shocking! What's VERY good? Auvelity is dextromethorphan and Wellbutrin (oddly, Wellbutrin never worked for me and made me feel lousy). I describe Auvelity's fast effect as like that of a shot of whiskey. Since every other antidepressant took weeks to not work for me, I was shocked by the almost instant change in my mood and disposition!! The stuff worked for me! Since the main component is dextromethorphan (same as OTC cough syrup), I'm not afraid of it."

"This saved my life literally. Zero side effects noted even on the first day. I never leave any kind of medication reviews but wanted people to know, as this is a new medication, that there is hope. Two weeks in and things didn't seem so hard. Four weeks in and I felt like a normal person."
