For Opioid Use Disorder "I started out with Vicodin 5 mg to 10 mg, then to a combination of oxycodone 40 mg twice a day with the use of about 8 x 10 mg of Percocet in between the days. I tried to get off multiple times, but as you all already know, it's almost impossible unless you enjoy agony and pain. I finally found one doctor on this whole island of mine that can prescribe the drug. Her directions were to wait 48 hours before starting, it was the weekend, and I couldn't get a hold of her to ask if I could take it once I felt the withdrawals. I took it 10 hours after my last dose of Percocet. I felt relieved about 20 minutes later. It was exactly one week from the time I started, and I don't need it. My advice: get off it in one week. Take my advice, it worked."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I am 29 years old and began abusing opioid medications about seven years ago. At my worst, I was taking up to 50 tabs of 10 mg Norco per day. When my own prescription ran out, usually within 2 to 3 days, I would manipulate my elderly grandmother into giving me her entire month's prescription. I would mix these drugs with Ativan and alcohol. It's a miracle I didn't kill myself. I have three small children that I wasn't capable of caring for properly and a husband that picked up all the slack. I made the decision to quit and have been on Suboxone for almost a week. This medication has been a lifesaver. No withdrawal symptoms, no cravings for pain pills. This is saving my life. A truly amazing medication."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Hydrocodone ruled my life for the past 6 years. I started Suboxone treatment with an 8 mg dose 30 days ago. The medicine works great for avoiding the major Norco withdrawal that I was so terrified of. Half a day ago, I quit cold turkey off of 2 mg Suboxone. The withdrawal was still pretty bad but not nearly as bad as the Norco. Good luck out there, everybody. It is possible to live opiate-free."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I'm on 10 months in the Suboxone program. I've weaned down from 2 x 2/8 mg strips/day to 1.5/day. Recently, I went to 1 and 1/4 a day and tried for 1 and 1/8 per day. That proved to be way too fast, and I was in bad withdrawal at work. I'm back to 1 and 1/4 for now. Doctor's office scheduled me for 5 days AFTER the script ran out, so I had to wean just so I wouldn't go without. My doctor required that I see a psychologist and psychiatrist. The CBT therapy is saving my life. I've learned why I abused these pills and am learning how to cope without. I want off, but patience is a must. Suboxone is great, don't let others judge you. If you're on it, you've taken an important step. Good luck!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "This drug has saved my life, literally. I have a long, sad history of drug abuse. I was on a minimum of 1600 mg of oxycodone a day for over three years. I had to do ridiculous things to support my habit. I have been to countless rehabs, but to no avail. Although the physical withdrawal part is hard, it is nothing compared to the depression that follows. I was hospitalized numerous times following detox for having serious suicidal thoughts. This is the only thing that worked for me. Now I am clean for over a year and am down to around 5-6 mg of Suboxone a day."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been on Suboxone for almost 4.5 years. I will tell you I only took 8 to 10 mg a day, every day for about 4 of those years. One day it made me feel extremely disoriented, very high blood pressure, confused, and like I was in a black hole, so I stopped taking it. I do not suggest that at all. That was 6 months or 7 months ago, and I think I still withdraw from that, even though I am taking 2 mg a day."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Really helped, but if you are on methadone or extremely high levels of narcotics, ask a doc first. My sister, who was on 200 mg of methadone a day, took an 8-2 Suboxone and she went into withdrawal. I was eating TAs, perks, and O.C.'s and finally decided to try the Suboxone. Well, 1 year later, I am free from the searching, sickness, and hassles. I love them."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I went off it for my 1st child. I had only been on it 3 months, and it was easy, no withdrawal symptoms. I went back to using heroin after I had my daughter. I have since been clean for 3 years now. I have been on Suboxone the whole time. It is not easy to go completely off it this time. I got pregnant with my son about 18 months ago. I recommend Suboxone! He was over 8 lbs and super healthy! He didn't go through any withdrawal symptoms. He had the yawns a little, that's it. On Methadone, it's proven that babies go through withdrawal! My baby is smart and healthy! My doctors just monitored me closer than usual. More ultrasounds, and they talked back and forth. I was on about 4 mg while pregnant. A high dose might be bad, lower is better!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "So I'm on my 3rd day off opioids with a Suboxone script. I took 4 mgs the 1st day and went into horrible withdrawal, so I decided to take 2 mgs only when the symptoms are horrible. Thinking about sticking with that and just stopping the Suboxone and opioids all at once. Anyone have experience with this, and how did you do, if so? I just want to be free. I thought the Suboxone would also cure my cravings for opioids, which sadly it has not."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Day One. Since I had my son via c-section 4 years ago, I have been addicted to pain pills. What started out as something to take away my pain turned into a full-blown addiction. At my worst, I was taking about 60 mg/day worth of pain pills, and today I started Suboxone. Since it is my first day, I can't say it has changed my life, but for right now, I can say I do feel better. It did take away the cravings and withdrawal symptoms, but I think it is too soon to say how long this will last. I hope this will help to rid myself of this nasty opiate addiction."

"I have been taking Suboxone for ten months now, and let me tell you, if you are serious about wanting to quit your addiction and you follow your doctor's orders, you will not find anything better than Suboxone. I was taking 5 x 80 mg OxyContin a day and quit by using Suboxone without withdrawals, and after a week of taking it, I was really back to my old self again. It is true that the same dose is not for everyone. I only took 3 of the 2 mg pills a day, and that is a low dose, but it works. Now I take one."

"From a back injury from an abusive relationship, I was taking 8 Percocet 10s and 3 oxycodone 40s daily for 6 years. I would become violently ill (withdrawal) 5 or 6 hours without them. I am 29 and a single parent of 3 beautiful children. I got sick of being sick, so I asked the doctor to take me off the pain pills, even though I knew I would be in pain (I was anyway because the pills didn't even help anymore). I had heard about Suboxone from a TV show. I took my last Percocet that afternoon and went into the doctor's office the next morning with mild withdrawals. 30 minutes after receiving my first dose of Suboxone, I felt great. I feel like I'm 20 again and have so much energy and almost no pain. If you need help, do it - it will save your life, relationships, job, etc."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on oxycodone and methadone at the same time for 30 years. I kept running out of the oxycodone 3 weeks into the month, but the methadone would pick up the slack until my refill date. Well, a vehicle failure caused me not to make it to my pain management appointment. I went into withdrawal. Thank God for Suboxone, it has saved me. I was ready to end it, then I found a doctor that cared, he saved my life by putting me on Suboxone. I'm thinking clearer again, no withdrawals, and I can't put into words how thankful I am. Plus, it takes care of my pain better than the oxycodone ever did."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Part II: Rock bottom and tried to go cold turkey but couldn't do it. I looked into other rehab, and the only thing I could afford/qualify for was methadone treatment, which actually didn't work for me. I had read about Suboxone but couldn't afford it until November 2010 when I got insurance! Suboxone is great, it doesn't completely take the withdrawals, but it is 1,000 times better than cold turkey or methadone. I have my life back. I just wish it wasn't so hard/expensive to get on. This needs to be made more available. It is great to be back. (You have to be ready to stop and do need counseling to help with addiction because 99% of the time there are other issues behind the addiction."
