Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "Suboxone was great for my opiate dependence. I was using 160 mg of oxy daily and really wanted to be free from its painful grip that it had on me. I tried quitting cold turkey but couldn't stand the withdrawal symptoms. So I went to a doctor and got on Suboxone. Things were great until I started tapering off of it and eventually quit. The withdrawal was not as painful as opiate withdrawal but lasted a lot longer. Day 3 was when it began, mostly when trying to sleep: cold sweats, the kicks, could not sleep at all. Day 7 now, and I have not slept more than 2 hours a night yet. I have read posts on other sites, and everyone else has had the same problems. I hear day 10 is when it starts to get better, and that it takes about 2 weeks before it's over."

Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "I was put on Bunavail because of the constipation I was having on the Bup's. I used to take 2 mg twice a day... my doc told me how great this new Bunavail is, yada yada. The first two days of it, I was going through WD's! My moods were awful, I was clammy but hot, sweating, chills, no appetite. So my doc tells me to double my dosage, and finally, I feel better... no more WD's, but my gosh... the mood swings... I'm like a crazy woman on her period, ready to snap on the next person that irritates me. That's NOT like me, I'm always rainbows and butterflies, and I hate this. While the constipation has gotten better, it's still there. I'd rather have to take laxatives than deal with these mood swings. I'll give it another month until my next appointment."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Have been on Suboxone for 2 years. Started on 6 mg, now down to 4 mg. Completely turned my life around. Now the pharmacy has switched to the generic, and I'm not feeling well. Worst I've felt in 2 years. Sweats, anxiety, something is different with the generic. Quite often, a generic just will not work as well. What are others' experiences with the generic? Will insurance pay for Suboxone when there is a generic available?"

Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "I was dependent on prescription painkillers (Vics). Never took enough to get high, just enough to make me feel “normal.” I turned to methadone maintenance because that’s where my doctor sent me. They started me off on 30 mg! I was so high I couldn’t function or even speak! Needless to say, I only need 4 mg. I went all day until my next dose without one withdrawal symptom. I just don’t like that high feeling. It got too pricey, and I turned to sub tabs off the street, which tasted bad but helped me so much. Did those for a few years. Couldn’t always afford them, so after years I finally got into a program. My insurance only covered Zubsolv, which I was hesitant about, but I’m so glad I have them (4 months now)! They are so much better than subs. I have no symptoms during the day. During my sleep, I wake up feeling a little sweaty. I also have no energy, but it’s way better than being dope sick, in my opinion. Sucks in January my insurance will no longer cover Zubsolv, and I’ll be forced back to subs."

For Opioid Use Disorder "There is no denying that the Zubs/Subs help give me my life back. In 2013, I thought everything was better, and I welcomed myself back to the world, and as that set in, I realized I was just as sick as before. But soon that very feeling starts to wear off too when you then realize you're still blocking the same feeling from eventually coming. Yesterday was 1 week without any Zubs. Over the past year, I have been prescribed to eat 2, but I got myself down to a quarter within that year. I haven't slept in a week- I still have very runny poops, and I sweat like anything like I'm in early menopause, and I'm only 35. Yes, this drug helped, but it only helps if you're not on it that long- we need to push for more doctors to control how long we are on this medicine."

Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "I'll be 100% real. Zubsolv is terrible. They claim that Zubs and subs are the same strength, however, that is not true. When coming off/withdrawing, SWIM can usually take a half to 3/4 of an 8mg strip of subs (possibly a full strip if SWIM's relapse is bad enough) and then they will feel fine. However, they recently tried ZUBSOLV with the directions of only needing to take one every so many hours. After waiting the correct amount of time, SWIM took the Zubsolv as instructed and soon after, the withdrawals came. After waiting an hour and a half, the withdrawals had emerged with full-on sweats, vomiting, etc., so they took a second one, and after about another hour, the vomiting had stopped, yet cold sweats and shaking were still present. It wasn't until after a third Zub was taken that my friend was even able to take a deep breath and finally sit up straight and not have to be in the restroom. And yet, still had sleepless nights. Finally went back to subs and after a half of one, had no complaints. So if you're thinking about switching, don't. The taste may be better, but wow, who cares what it tastes like? It's about being able to function without withdrawals and without cravings. So all in all, don't waste your time, your health, your money, and your sanity on ZUBSOLV."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been on subs for 4 years, and thank goodness because it saved my life. I don't have any problems with the medication except a little sweating once in a while. They are addictive though because my ex-partner started taking them, now he's hooked badly. He can't do anything without it. The only bad thing about them is that you can't get it in cheap generic form. And who can afford the Drs visit and $400 for the subs? Luckily, or maybe unluckily, I'm disabled. So Medicaid takes care of that. So for me, it's a good alternative to taking 30 pain pills a day."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have chronic head and shoulder pain from a car accident 40 years ago. Taken all pain pills. Did get dependent on a few. Took Subutex to recover from withdrawal. Found it helped my pain. Hope they will find a way to heal my pain, but for now, Subutex helps me have half a normal life. The taste is awful, but take it anyway. I hate the side effects like sweating. Still thankful Subutex is available. Please fix the taste. Not addicted."
