Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "You are all inspiring. Two years clean today thanks to Suboxone. It started when I was 22. I had 3 ruptured discs and basically, over the next 5 years, became completely dependent on pills. The last year I was using, my life revolved around pills and fear of going without. I became another person. My life was a lie. I reached my breaking point, and I found Suboxone, started at 12 mgs. It's been two years, and now I am at 2 mgs, going off next month. Suboxone gave me the time to heal. I just got married and can't wait to have a baby. My back is still painful, but nothing like the pain I was living in with pills."

Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "Horrible!!! If your doctor offers you this, turn it down!!! I've been on subs for over three years and got put on this bullshit because of insurance. The fact that it dissolves in your cheek is the only thing Bunavail has going for it. I cannot get out of bed on this crap, my whole body hurts 24/7. It's like I'm consistently going through withdrawals. Take my advice: do not get on this medicine because it's free, you will be stuck on it. Pay for the subs because if you get on Bunavail, you will be back in the streets buying what got you on subs anyways."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have pain due to back nerve removal and two knee replacements. I was prescribed Suboxone because I went to dual mental health and drug rehab. I did not have any drug problems, I was on prescribed opiate medications due to injuries and surgery from an accident. I was diagnosed with major depression. The doctors changed me to Suboxone, the depression was successfully treated, but Suboxone has been the worst drug I have ever been on. It helped with pain for the first six months. The side effects have been horrible. I am swollen, have back and side pain, burning mouth, constipation, nausea, among others. I had two back surgeries the year the depression started, a right knee replacement three years before, and will have a left knee replacement this month. What they do not tell you is you cannot have surgery on Suboxone with naloxone because it stops pain medication from working."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on Suboxone or Subutex for 12 years. Buprenorphine works well to eliminate cravings and withdrawal. However, I've found it difficult to get off. Haven't tried in years. Made it 5 days once, the aches, pains, hot flashes, and feeling of my throat being tickled just didn't seem to subside. I realize 5 days isn't long enough to get all better, but I felt I wasn't even close. On 16 mg now. Lowered dose to 2 mg at one point, but that ended in a relapse and overdose, which required an ICU stay. I think it messes with your appetite and makes you generally less ambitious after the initial happy first few months of sobriety. Definitely a good medicine that has likely saved many lives. I'd just encourage all who get on it to try and get off ASAP. Taper very slowly. Be safe."

"I began Suboxone a week ago while in quite bad withdrawal from heroin. I was in a detox facility and lying on the dirty bathroom floor crying because of so much pain in my abdomen. The nurse gave me a Suboxone, and within an hour to an hour and a half I was up and eating and felt no pain whatsoever, even my arthritis didn't hurt. While I am afraid of withdrawing from the Suboxone, I know it can't be as bad as that day on the bathroom floor. Not only has it helped with my addiction to heroin, but I had to stop taking my Xanax in order to take the Suboxone, and I haven't had a craving or desire for the Xanax either. I have been taking Xanax for 5 years or more and found Suboxone removed the withdrawal from them also."

Buprenorphine / naloxone for Opioid Use Disorder "Kind of a pain trying to get it to dissolve under the tongue, but well worth it. No withdrawal getting off oxycodone."

For Opioid Use Disorder "All I can say is wow, this drug combo, buprenorphine with naloxone, is the miracle drug. I wasn't a street drug user, I was only on codeine, 60 mgs four times a day for years when my doctor said, do you want to try to get off codeine? and I said, yeah! I had a 24-hour dry-out time, and he gave me 8 mgs for 4 days to see how it works with my wife monitoring me (she's a nurse) at my lake house, just ourselves with no kids, and man, what a difference it was. I feel normal, I'm now taking 20 mgs a day because at about 9 pm I start feeling pain again, so I take 4 mgs at noon starting today. I have now been on Suboxone for 4 months, and I have feelings again, I can feel my emotions that were suppressed by the codeine. This drug has changed my life now, and my doctor is amazing for letting me try this miracle drug. As for the generic version, I started on the generic, and it worked fine, but I found out my insurance will pay for the name brand, so that's what I get, and there was no difference in the two for me. I found out the generic version was made by Indivior too."
