Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "Did the job. Milder side effects than Levetiracetam. The dosage was first 100 mg/day, then by stopping, it was suggested to reduce in 6 weeks to 0 mg. Almost got all the side effects mentioned. Physical: tiredness, pulse faster, heart pain before rain or by lightning (never happened in life before), higher blood pressure, veins start to be more and more coming out to the skin surface and seem purple, red, blue, hurt, also in eyes getting more and bigger red lines, water in legs, tinnitus at least 4 times, sensitivity to light and huge open pupils, eczema patches red and rough on skin, red urine often. Not enough water to have proper menstruation and sexual need and no liquid. Mental: anxiety, anger, short temper (destroying things), deep long sadness most days, panic, avoiding people for months, feeling burdened if I have to talk, unmotivation to do anything, irritability, few times felt like suicidal. Finished taking it in 3 weeks."

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "I was on Keppra for 5 years, 2017 to 2022. Switched to Briviact in 2022 and have now been on it for 1 year. I had all side effects while on both medications, but Briviact has been the worst. I had my first anxiety attack/panic attack, and all side effects have increased significantly since being on Briviact. I have been seizure-free for the past 3 years, and I just want to come off of the medication, but my neuro won't let me. My neuro is keeping me on the medication and is asking for me to seek psychiatric help for the side effects I'm experiencing."

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "Briviact is my 13th med. Keppra caused more side effects. Briviact is finally working. I'm going past 25 weeks without a T/C. I had laser ablation on my frontal temporal lobe, and it didn't work. I do feel more lethargic, and I'm hoping my skin problems aren't coming back, but I'm taking 100 mg 2x a day, so maybe I can take less. But I'm scared to change anything. I do believe in gut health. I've had mono at age 1, and my naturopathic was the only one to test my thyroid, hormones, and cortisol levels correctly. She told me that I have active EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) and its cousin virus called HHV-6, which actually causes seizures because it attacks the nervous system. So with her treatment, I've been able to calm down the virus, and I've been able to get off both of my high blood pressure meds. I almost had to get on a 3rd HBP when I was on (brand name) Keppra XR at 1500 mg a day. I had low sodium levels as well. I need more time to know how this will affect my health over time, and I could follow a keto, but no."

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "I had a fit in my sleep 2 years ago, after spending 3 weeks in my workshop, breathing in diesel fumes from a leaking heater, no history of epilepsy in my family. However, I'm no doctor, so what do I know? Apparently, I have 'temporal lobe epilepsy.' I was initially given Keppra, had terrible side effects (but no more fits). However, I did get lots of déjà vu. But the mood swings and suicidal thoughts started to get worse, so now I'm on Briviact, and again, no seizures. However, I'm getting extremely tired, depressed, angry, etc., and have started falling asleep, then waking up with no idea where or who I am! I'm not sure if that's the epilepsy or a drug side effect."

For Seizures "Unknown for seizures. I would recommend it for cognitive disorder. In short, I'd say it gave me ADD, only a problem on higher doses. My overall cognitive function is back to and above normal before TBI and seizures, even while having unwanted stupor-like side effects from other epilepsy meds. (Google = tested for Alzheimer's) upon first starting 50 mg, my senses, spatial awareness, and long-term memory recall improved. (Taste differences in all food, never noticed before. Sight improved, peripheral vision greater distance. Hearing higher pitch sounds more also further objects) @ 100 mg side effects became a problem (increased awareness of all body aches, some heart/lung pain. Hearing was too much, needed a radio just to sleep. Without a steady/random sound, noises as far as 0.25 miles kept me awake) (became more agitated, due to lack of better sleep. Body aches also added to agitation, nothing major but constant awareness of body is a problem. No off switch for level of consciousness)"

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "I took Keppra. That, along with other meds, controlled 10 seizures a day for 2 years. Now I'm on 4 seizure meds and facing brain surgery if the seizures don't stop. I just started taking Briviact and am hopeful to be seizure-free for years again. So far, so good, but there have already been mood swings. It has only been almost a week."

For Seizures "I had a grand mal seizure in March 2020, that completely came out of nowhere. Was originally put on levetiracetam 2x daily in the 750 mg tablets. Had to be taken off of it due to intense mood swings and intense anxiety. Also didn't help that I was still getting migraines. So I got put on Briviact 50 mg 2x daily. I was told that I wouldn't have to worry about it causing any more mood swings. And here I am 2 1/2 months in, and things just feel wrong. I have horrible brain fog, anxiety that's through the roof, and irregular bowel movements. I'm having issues with memory, as well as issues with my balance. I usually get help to stand up and end up collapsing back on the ground. Not sure if this is normal, and I've tried communicating with my neurologist but to no avail. I'm sure it works for someone, but unfortunately for me it just incapacitated me further."

For Epilepsy "Was afraid it wouldn't work, but it worked really well for a while. Just developing resistance to it now. It is similar to Keppra, and that med was horrible for me. Briviact has caused none of the issues Keppra did and helped control the seizures more."

For Epilepsy "Such an amazing tablet. I have been facing an epilepsy problem for the last 12 years. It happened once a night every month. I have taken lots of treatments and brain scan surgery, but there was no effect. I even took allopathic treatment also, but after that, I continued to face this problem. Now I am starting this one tablet every day after dinner. And I see this problem is totally stopped, and I sleep properly. I have no side effects. Really, thanks to the founder."

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "I was diagnosed later in life at the age of 57. I had my second seizure and was placed on Levetiracetam, but after 4 years, I started to get focal seizures on a weekly basis but didn’t lose consciousness, just lost my vision or hallucinated. Being moved on to Briviact stopped the FS, but fatigue has been a problem now for over 7 months, but that’s better than getting the FSs. The only other problem is weight gain, I put on about 10-12 lbs and have to watch what I eat now, so much for being skinny and fit and loved playing ice hockey. Not anymore."

For Epilepsy "I started taking Briviact in 2017. I was so fatigued it took 3 hours before I could get out of bed after a dose. I had memory loss, dizziness, dark thoughts, and depression. It was hard work, but side effects calmed after a long 6 months. I was over the moon, I was seizure-free for 2.5 years, then, unfortunately, I had one this May and another in August. This is almost the same frequency as without meds for me. So at the moment, coming off it is being discussed. It doesn't matter how many seizures you have, they still rule your life! I am pushing for a VNS, though I feel how many I have, and NHS funding is being held against me."

For Seizures "Keppra was working well for me. I would get it at the CVS down the street. I put in a refill request and did it through the mail order Caremark. The version of Keppra I received made me feel slow and made my memory even worse than usual. I told my neurologist about this and asked for a new prescription so I could get it filled at the regular CVS. He preferred to do a prescription for Briviact. In hindsight, I can practically guarantee it was since Briviact is so very expensive it means he gets a much larger kickback for prescribing it. Briviact has made me feel even slower than the mail order Keppra and is also giving me a ‘brain fog.’ Supposedly, it’s a better version of Keppra, but I severely doubt that’s true. And it also makes me very tired in addition to feeling extra stupid."

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "Good control of seizures, but hard on stomach. Bleeding ulcers in 11 months in otherwise healthy 17-year-old. Nausea and vomiting. No other health issues or reasons for ulcer. Medicine was always given with food, but did not prevent development of ulcer."

Brivaracetam for Epilepsy "Unmedicated, my late-onset seizures were evolving into impaired awareness focal seizures occurring in clusters of several daily. My seizures before medication were impacting my ability to function. Started on Keppra originally, but had to stop due to mental health side effects (severe depression and paranoia). Started Brivaracetam at 50 mg twice daily, and over 2 years went up to 150 mg twice daily. Reduced seizure frequency to one seizure every month on average. When seizures do occur, they feel like a whisper of what they were. I am able to easily function through my seizures. Side effects I have experienced include ongoing fatigue, vision changes, loss of general motivation, memory issues. However, side effects seem manageable given the alternative."

For Seizures "I was taking carbamazepine (ZEN Retard-400 mg twice a day + Frisium). Carbamazepine caused a sleeping tendency throughout the day + got affected by asthma/allergy, which later turned into a skin allergy. After reaching multiple neurologists, got Briv100, no side effects, allergy mainly no fits attacks. After 2 years getting a skin allergy while taking Briv100. Trying to find an alternative."

For Epilepsy "It's been a month starting Briviact and doing great. No rage, mood swings. Mental fog, more energy. I'm taking 100 mg a day and it's controlling my seizures without awful side effects. So much better than Keppra. I am switching from oxcarbazepine due to hyponatremia. My epilepsy specialist didn't even consider Keppra for me. Another doctor prescribed that."

Brivaracetam for Seizures "I recently started Briviact to replace my previous med (oxcarbazepine) due to low sodium. I'm loving it even though it's a pill. It fully controls my focal seizure. I take 100 mg daily (50 mg - AM/PM). I'm having more energy and not much side effects except for getting mild pins and needles some days. No issue of mental health or rage. This is my experience, and everyone is different."

For Epilepsy "I started having seizures in my sleep in my late teens/early twenties. I was finally treated with various seizure meds. Had a seizure in the bathroom at work at 56 years old, my first seizure while awake. Coworkers found me and I was hospitalized briefly. I was then put on Keppra (Levetiracetam) and managed for a while until I had a status seizure requiring ICU and a hospital stay. Increased Keppra from 500mg to 750mg. Broke out in a rash of small, flat blisters in my mouth, I was informed that I was good to notice that because it is a deadly allergic reaction to Keppra. Neurologist then switched me to Briviact 100mg twice daily and 0.5mg clonazepam at night. I have been seizure-free for 2 years. My only complaint is that it's so expensive...but it works...sighs."

Brivaracetam for Seizures "My daughter was on Briviact for a short time. It was a nightmare. She moaned and groaned all night long. After that, she was too frightened to sleep. She was exhausted and shaky on her feet. The drug was given as an alternative to Keppra. She is now off of both drugs but still suffers occasional episodes of moaning at night."
