"I take Effexor 150 mg for my depression and anxiety, but if you know Effexor, it's really only for anxiety, so we tried Effexor with Rexulti. Rexulti really takes care of depression where Effexor doesn't. I started on 0.5 mg for two weeks and then went up to 1 mg for three weeks, which I'm at now, and then I'm going up to 2 mg in the next few days. It really helps with depression. I'm always on my feet all day, always doing something, and I don't even care. It's not a big deal, even. I just do things. It's so cool, I've been apathetic my whole life, and now it's changed. There are side effects, I get headaches, and every time I go up a dose, I have huge mood swings for a few days while my body adjusts. But that's okay. Awesome medication."

"I'm currently on Day 8 of the Rexulti trial pack (stepping up dosage), and so far, so good...except that I feel that it's deadened my sex drive. However, that can be remedied, I think. The benefit is that my 'painful emotions' accompanying serious depression have all but vanished. And so far, I have not experienced any akathisia, which is my most feared side effect from any of the atypical antipsychotics (such as Seroquel). We'll see how it continues. Yes, it is quite expensive, but I think Medi-Cal will cover."

"Been on it for a month, and I don’t think I can continue this medication. It must be too strong for me because it makes me feel like I’m dreaming and makes my body feel so, so strange and numb. Kind of like when your legs fall asleep, but all over and for hours and hours! I think it’s helped my anxiety, but I can’t stand feeling numb! Also makes my head so foggy I felt like I was drugged all day today."

"I'm only in my second week of the Rexulti, but feeling terrible. Hot flashes, dizziness, blurred vision, weight gain, bloating, shortness of breath, and suicidal thoughts. My depression feels much worse! I'm kind of at the end of my rope because I've tried everything else, even MAOIs. But I'm definitely going to have to get off of this med. :("

"I've been on Rexulti for four months now, and I'm up from 142 lbs to 170 lbs. This weight sucks!!! I've never been this big! Unfortunately, it's done exactly what I needed it to as far as my mental health goes. I'm seeing my doctor today and will be discussing alternate medications."

"I am a 60-year-old female. I have been on Prozac for OCD at 60 mg for over 20 years. The last 2 1/2 years, I’ve been filled with anxiety and dread. I was taking an Ativan nearly every day just to get rid of the pit in my stomach that I would wake up with. I would struggle all day to try to keep the anxiety away. To help me deal with some of the anxiousness, I was started on .25 mg of Rexulti to give my Prozac some help. After about four days, I didn’t need Ativan anymore. So far, so good, two weeks in, and I am pleasantly surprised. It is easy to get up in the morning. I usually have a couple of projects going during the day and even went for a walk today. I was spending a lot of time in the recliner watching television, feeling like I didn’t have any motivation. I was scared to take this medication, with all the side effects listed. Glad I got over that. I feel like my old self! OCD is not cured, of course, but anxiety and depression are a lot better!"

"Been taking Paxil for at least 10 years, and it became less effective. Tried several other drugs that gave me side effects. Been on Rexulti 0.5 for 3 weeks and feeling much more stable. Through God's grace and Rexulti, I am feeling better than I have in a long time… and no side effects!"

"I have been on this medication for about 4 months now. Having been through literally double digits on trying medications, I was reluctant and didn't have high hopes. My diagnosis is BPD and BP1. The combination, along with BP1 being treatment-resistant, I had low hope in actually finding something that worked. Within the first week of taking Rexulti, it felt that mental clouds began to part and I could start to see the sun coming through. Skip ahead a few months later, and I am living virtually depression and anxiety-free along with minimal manic episodes. I started at 0.5 mg for a week, and I now take 1 mg daily. This medication was a literal lifesaver and also the reason I no longer self-harm. The only side note/side effect I have had is some weight gain and some tremors when I first wake up in the morning. Otherwise, no other issues."

"Glad it helps some people, but not for me. Gained almost ten pounds in three weeks-made eating feel like a compulsion that was never satisfied. Tried one more week to see if any positive results with it would show up, but never noticed any."

"Was on 0.5 mg Rexulti for 3 months as an add-on to Mirtazapine for depression. It massively increased my anxiety and caused tremendous restlessness - I couldn’t sit still or concentrate. Have tapered off over a 30-day period and am finally feeling calmer. This medication was just released in the past few years, I feel like it hadn’t been evaluated sufficiently prior."

"Absolutely horrible experience. My psychiatrist gave me a free two-week sample of 0.5 mg Rexulti pills. Since I began taking them, I have been EXTREMELY irritable, stressed, and unable to calm down. I’m throwing the rest of them in the trash, hopefully, these symptoms will go away soon."

"My doctor gave me 3 starter packs to see if this would work for me. I started with 0.5 mg, then 1 mg per day and after day 12, I felt like my old self. I haven't noticed any side effects except maybe with my sleep, but I am only in my third week. All that said, once I got the prescription, the cost is prohibitive even with my insurance picking around 70%, my co-pay is around $500 per month. I'm sorry that I started taking it as now I have to stop simply because it's unaffordable. I got a Rexulti savings card, but no one will take it because I have 'government' insurance, Medicare part D. I've also contacted Texas Prescription Assistance, and they told me I may be able to take Zyprexa, but my insurance only covers the generic Olanzapine. It sounds like a 'generic' of a 'generic'. I've made an appointment with my doctor to see if one of these 2 will be beneficial to me. And finally, Rexulti is a miracle drug - it gave me my life back, and then pulled the rug out."

"If I'm being honest, it's done nothing for me except get me physically addicted to the drug itself. I have BPD + depression. At $10 a pill, I'm pretty upset. Now I have to deal with the extreme (take note anyone thinking about this drug) withdrawal symptoms whilst dealing with my already moody, miserable symptoms of BPD and depression. Avoid it at all costs, it's nothing but a money grab."

"I have been on Rexulti 1 mg for 11 days now. I feel it is helping. I do not yet feel “good” or “great,” but I feel a little more alive and glad to be alive. So for that, I give it a rating of 7 for now. Only time will tell if it will make a bigger difference in the next couple of weeks. I am also on 150 mg of Venlafaxine as well."

"Dear God, save me from this drug. I took this for 2-3 months, violently sick to my stomach daily. My doc tried a variety of antidiarrheal pills to no avail; I lived in the bathroom. I worked to discontinue through a slow taper, causing the worst drug withdrawal I've ever encountered. Going from 2 mg to 1 mg, I threw up in my car twice and walked around with intense nausea. I had to taper at a 1/4 mg after that, sick throughout. I eventually got off a near week ago, and because of its lovely 91-hour half-life, I'm still stuck in the bathroom. I wake up nightly, rushing to the bathroom. It's lightening up, but 'better' has never been such a relative word. I guess a decrease from 20+ trips without warning to 7-8 times with a 'manageable' 15-minute daytime warning is an improvement, but it's not quality of life. No prior major stomach issues, just this nasty pill that's caused a complete life interruption. At the very start of a stomach issue, I'd advise tapering off; there is no drug known to man that can control Rexulti's effects on your GI tract."

"This has changed my life. I was severely depressed and anxious for an entire year. I couldn’t do anything. I was a shell of myself just going through the motions. This changed my life in just 3 days. I have now been on it for 5 months along with paroxetine and it has seriously given me my life back. Definitely a 10/10."

"I am presently trying to recover my mind after feeling depressed for about 6 months. I have been taking Pristiq for years, and my doc added Rexulti a week ago. I must admit it is slow going, writing this is exhausting. I see a psychiatrist that I like and admire. I have severe depression on both sides of the family. I've had episodes of depression in the past, neither this intense nor long, and I'm scared. I have vowed not to harm myself, to my husband and children, who top my gratitude list, but I'm dancing as fast as I can."

"I was on Abilify for almost ten years, but, as well as it worked, I could not stop gaining weight because I was always starving. My psychiatrist suggested Rexulti, and my weight gain has stopped without a change in diet or exercise. I take Rexulti for psychotic depression, and it keeps me stable and fully functional. I take 2 mg a day at night, because it is sedating. Highly recommended for anyone who wants an alternative to Abilify."

"This medication has been a lifesaver for me. Rexulti works really well for my depression. The only side effect that I do not like is feeling fatigued throughout the day, but I’m on stimulants to help combat that. I highly recommend it!"

"Rexulti has been a life changer! I'm on 1 mg. I know that's not a lot, but it's worked so well for me. Way less depressed mood than usual. I have Bipolar Type II. This was an add-on to Trileptal, and it's really been amazing for me. Would definitely recommend to others :)"

"Rexulti is working for me. I feel calm. Seroquel was making me too zombie-like, very sluggish, and Abilify was too strong for me. I had trouble moving my body around. But with Rexulti, my mood is more stable than ever and able to feel much less depressed. Thank you, doctors."

"I was put on Rexulti as an add-on to my Depakote for bipolar type 1 disorder. I had to come off lithium abruptly because it was affecting my sleep and causing me to have suicidal thoughts. My psychiatrist put me back on Depakote (what I had been taking prior to lithium) and then added Rexulti. It has so far been a life changer. I finally feel truly myself in a way I have not felt in years. I must have had high functioning depression for years, thinking it was my 'new normal,' but on Rexulti, I do not feel so chronically fatigued and I am actually excited about life. I can also think more coherently and clearly, and it shows in my academic performance and creativity levels. Give this medication a try if it seems nothing else is working for you because this might!!!"

"I was put on this medication to help with the fatigue I’ve been experiencing for close to 2 years. I was taking it in conjunction with Cipralex (20 mg), which I’ve been on for 8 years. I was taking 0.5 mg of Rexulti for the past 3 months, and my energy levels were great. Unfortunately, it made me gain 20 pounds in that time. My appetite was out of control... seriously, I was eating out like 4-5 times per week and binging at night. Insane. I just went off of it close to 2 weeks ago, and after 2 days, my appetite went back to normal. I just can’t be on antipsychotics."

"I have cyclothymia, which is a mild cousin of bipolar. I was in the deepest, darkest depression, where the state police forced me to the hospital for a psych evaluation. I was suicidal. The mood swings were horrendous, and I was ruining my life and everyone's life around me. Until Rexulti tied with Lexapro. When I say life-changing and life-saving, I mean it. I'm alive because of Rexulti. Can't be without it!"

"The doctor gave me a 14-day trial, and after the second day, I felt a change. I went from a dark place, hearing voices and other issues, to almost being the woman I was 3 years ago. I'm happy again, and with that being said, I'm motivated and I stopped sleeping long hours out of the day. Depression disorder is such a hard thing to overcome. And finally, now I feel the courage to move on. The only problem I've had is my out-of-pocket cost is $250. And at the moment, I do not have the money resources. I lost my job over 2 years ago and had an accident a year ago, in which I'm still recovering. I'm saving every penny to buy a month's supply."
