For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I’ve had stomach pains off and on for a few years. Just recently, I went to a new gastro, which ran some tests that included blood work and a stool sample along with an abdominal ultrasound. Everything came back fine except I tested positive for H. pylori. I was prescribed a 10-day Pylera course along with omeprazole. Besides having dark stool, it was going smoothly for the first couple of days, but on day 6 is when all hell started breaking loose. I began having sharp abdominal pains, dizziness, nausea, and I was very tired. The only thing that helped was eating, as soon as I ate, my pains and symptoms went away temporarily. Two and a half more days to go, and I’m done. Hopefully, I won’t have to go through this again."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "The first two days, I felt alright. I drank a lot of water with my doses (about 16 oz). On day three, I panicked because my urine was really dark and wasted a bunch of time in the ER to find nothing wrong with me but needing to drink a little more water that day. From day 4 till the very end, I felt exhausted and queasy in the mornings, took forever to get motivated to do anything. Luckily, I'm on summer break! I read a lot on here that people took probiotics, but my pharmacist said that calcium would interfere with absorption, so I didn't. I eliminated all dairy to make sure there were no interferences. My last dose was yesterday morning, and I have gas building up now-I'm guessing it's from reintroducing the dairy into my diet?"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had been experiencing severe stomach pain for about a year and a half that included nausea, stomach pain, always bloated, and pressure under my ribcage. Dr. performed a Urea Breath Test; tested positive for H. Pylori. I completed day 10 yesterday. I was lucky enough not to experience any severe side effects. I did experience multiple migraines while on it, and I always felt very tired. But just after taking the first full day of it, I definitely felt a difference. Today is my first day without having taken them, and I feel a hundred times better. I actually have an appetite! It's harsh and long, and I wanted to give up, but in the end, I thought it was worth it. Now to wait four weeks before I can get retested to ensure it's gone."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 8 of Pylera for H. pylori. The first 6 days were fine, a little nausea on day 7. I had this cold feeling go up my legs, I was extremely shaky and thought I was going to pass out. I ate and drank water and felt a little better. Day 8, I'm extremely tired, literally never felt this tired in my life, and I've been nauseous throughout the day. I CANNOT wait for this to be over...."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 4, mostly tired, drained, and nauseous. Just read the other comments, so I have increased the amount of water, and hopefully, it will help. To the person from Syria who thought no one would see his/her comments: I read them, and may God help you and have mercy on your country and its beautiful people."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "The most horrible feeling in the world: tired, nauseated, black stools, depressed, and I just wanted to feel normal again. What helped me was eating big meals, try to eat your first meal as early as possible so that you can take your last pill not so late and get your sleep. I had mints in my purse, it always helps with the bad taste in your mouth, but most of all, sparkling water was by my side constantly. It helped settle my stomach and kept me hydrated. I never again can I go through that! Day 10 was yesterday, today I’m meds-free, and I have a sour stomach and heartburn. I hope this goes away soon."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Picked up a nasty H. pylori strain from a casual blind date, I know I should have gotten to know the person better. Took a while before symptoms showed up. Had a severe upset stomach, occasional diarrhea, nausea, and slow but steady weight loss. Took a long time and several doctors to diagnose my steadily worsening condition. Tried PrevPak first, seemed to work at first, but my infection came back. The new GI then prescribed Pylera after my third endoscopy. Pylera has worked, it's been a year, and I am still H. pylori negative. But it's been brutal and a very hard, long road back to recovery. Had severe side effects from tetracycline (in Pylera), my skeletal bones seemed to have absorbed it. Am still not completely detoxed, steadily improving."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "So I finally took my last dose, it was this morning at 1 am. I still feel very tired and nauseous, loss of appetite, but it could also be because I developed oral thrush and had to take fluconazole, so probably all the meds together are not helping the stomach situation. My hardest days were 8-10 because I just could not wait for it to be over. I would say my main issue was I felt weak and tired. I work from home and had to take a day off around my 7th day. I don’t know how they expect people to go in to work, I wouldn’t have been able to. But luckily, I had no vomiting, and I powered through it. Now I’ll update in 1 month if H. pylori is gone!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I used this for 2 months, Pylera, with 2 pills, Esoral 40 mg, and I did not have any strong side effects, a little feeling of nausea, but when I drink water, it disappears. I had a special diet, as the doctor said, no milk, no acidic drinks, and no fries. Today, I did a stool test, and it was negative, the infection is gone."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 1 - Started with first dose after breakfast. Full meal and 16-ounce glass of water to wash down medicine. Second dose taken six hours later with a full meal at lunch. Also drink 16 ounces of water with medicine. Around 2:30 in the afternoon, started to develop a headache. I drink more water to see if that would help. Around 3:30, my headache was much worse, and I started developing a stiff neck. Took my third dose at 6 PM with a full meal and 16 ounces of water. 30 minutes later, I got really nauseous and threw up four times. I have never thrown up this much in my life. I contacted the pharmacist, and she told me to stop the medication immediately. I also contacted my doctor, and she told me to stop, as well."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was given Pylera after being diagnosed with H. Pylori. I am a very active and healthy 41-year-old male. I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs. I will tell everyone that this medicine is TOUGH! All the way around. I'm on Day 6 of a 14-day regimen. I constantly have a metallic taste in my mouth, a slight headache, and severe nausea. I started the Pylera Saturday and have thrown up most every day and sometimes multiple times a day. I tried working on the meds, but I find it VERY difficult. I've had to use vacation days while on this medicine. I just physically cannot do it with the extreme fatigue and nausea/vomiting that I'm experiencing. I also have dark stools and diarrhea at times. My urine is also dark. My doctor did call in Zofran 4 mg for nausea on Day 4. The Zofran has helped. But I will say that my girlfriend says that I'm acting more like myself despite the severe side effects. It's like I'm being poisoned, is the best way I personally can describe Pylera. Good luck to all."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I stressed myself out like crazy leading up to taking it and especially after reading these horrific reviews on here. I am currently on day 8, and I am definitely over the routine of it all. Twelve pills a day is way too much! Overall, though, I am very grateful that my experience hasn't been even close to a lot of the reviews. After plenty of research, I came to the conclusion that taking a very good probiotic at least 2 hours before my first dose, taking the 3 pills after a meal, and drinking plenty of water seemed to be the safest route, and I was right! Days 1-4 were a breeze, day 5 is when I started to get over it all. Another tip to remember is don't lay down too soon after the last dose (I made that mistake, nausea hit me that one time). Other than that, be sure to take a GOOD probiotic and you will get through it just fine!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I just finished 10 days. It was really hard. Tested positive for H. pylori after endoscopy, as well as gastritis. No ulcers. Pylera really wrecked my stomach. Side effects for me: metallic taste, nausea, dizziness, acid reflux, lack of appetite, excessive burping, sour stomach, gnawing gut, dark green stools. Recommend asking the doctor for anti-nausea meds, which helped a bit. Did not eat dairy, took probiotics every day. Force-feed yourself plain meals to help with meds. Also took omeprazole twice a day. Hope it gets better - so far, I feel awful!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Today is my 10th day of Pylera medicine. Days 1 to 3 were okay except for black stool and I had a little bit of a stomach ache, but from days 4 until 7, I felt tiredness, nausea a few times, a horrible metal taste in my mouth, occasional abdominal pain, and sometimes dizziness. Days 8 to 10 were just fine except for the bad taste. Guys, if I could do it, you could do it. What I did: drank a lot of water at regular intervals, took light meals, do not, and yes, do not take sugary items (I did once, and that day the stomach ache was horrible), kept the same time for the medicine, and had 2 bananas daily. Took the medicine after the meal with omeprazole. Now I have to wait 8 weeks before the stool test, hope it’s gone. But from tomorrow, no capsules."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "This is a horrible drug. On day two, I experienced severe nausea, dizziness, mood swings and random bursts of crying, abdominal pain, heart palpitations, dark urine and dark stool, and felt so weak I could barely stand. This medication has pretty severe side effects. Not everyone will have them, but I did and couldn't tolerate it. I had to stop immediately."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 8. Finally starting to feel somewhat normal again. This medicine has made me feel horrible. The first few days, I was extremely agitated with crying bouts that are completely abnormal for me. My doctor told me that it's a side effect, but I have seen several people mention the same issue. I still have a general feeling of being anxious and feeling ill. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches have all been frequent. Stool is very black. Metallic taste and dry mouth. I can say eating well before each dose and drinking water seems to have helped. I wish my doctor had given me more information, so I was at least prepared. I won't know until 3 months if it works - for my breath test. If it works, I suppose it is worth it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Never take this drug. There are other alternatives. I am on my 6th day, and I have numbness in my hands, diarrhea, headaches, nausea, extreme fatigue, and now I am breaking out in acne all over my body. Talk to your Dr about other alternatives. This is horrible beyond explanation."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was expecting the worst when I read the reviews here. I even threw away my original prescription due to the reviews here. But symptoms (fatigue for the last 4-5 years, lack of appetite, and occasional nausea) were getting too severe to ignore, so I had to bite the bullet and just go for it. As it turns out, this experience wasn’t nearly as bad as the reviews here. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest level of discomfort, I’d give this drug a 4. I had some diarrhea, weakness, and moments of nausea. But I never came close to throwing up. I’m not going to say it was easy, but it wasn’t all that bad either. It wasn't anything remotely close to the nightmare scenarios I saw written here. Maybe I’m just lucky?"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "It's only the end of day 2, and I am drained! During the day, I don't have any significant side effects except for being really tired and a minor headache. At night, I get a strong sense of nausea and loss of appetite. It's only day 2, good thing I have a doctor appointment in 2 days because an antiemetic is very much needed. Let's hope the next 8 days don't get any worse than what they are."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on my 5th day of this drug treatment, and it has been hard. People say don't read the negative reviews before you start the treatment, but for me, it was helpful to know what to expect. The first 2 days were okay. But from day 3, I have been experiencing most of the side effects: nausea, vomiting, loose stools, stomach pain, bitter and sour taste in my mouth, chills, fatigue, foggy head, and bloating. I am sure only some people experience these symptoms, but I wonder if these side effects are, after all, just effects, not side effects. Sort of like going through chemo. For those who start the medication, please make sure to get off work and stay home! 5 more days to go, and I will stick to it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am 19 years old, and I've had this H. pylori for almost 2 years. My doctor put me on the treatment, and I started yesterday morning after breakfast. Every time I take it, I get nauseous and feel pain in my stomach. Well, today I feel like I have absolutely no energy, and I'm sitting at work, falling asleep and still nauseous. Is this normal, or should I call my doctor? I've never called off nor been late to my job, but I do not feel up to working today, and I don't know why I'm feeling like this. Help, please."
