"I have chronic tension headaches. I used to take the Fioricet with Tylenol, and honestly I wish I was on it again. I wanted to see how my body reacted to aspirin - IT HATES IT! My migraine worsens, hot and cold flashes, and I get intense nausea that makes me run for a trash can almost less than 5 minutes after being ingested. It does help sometimes, but the side effects weigh out the benefits. The Tylenol caffeine butalbital works wonders for tension migraines. I've tried most medicines and Fioricet is the only kind that helps. Too much causes rebound headaches so don't overdo it! And overdoses ARE POSSIBLE in large AMOUNTS. Butalbital is a barbiturate and is LETHAL. Read the warning labels!!!"

"I have suffered from migraines since I was 8 years old. I am 51 now. After aspirin stopped working, a doctor prescribed Fiorinal #3. This medication works after 30 minutes. Menopause has increased the intensity and duration of my migraines. I have to take Fiorinal once a day now. If it was not for this medication, I would be in bed, unable to work and support myself."

"I started having migraines after the birth of my second child. At first, I was able to tolerate them, then I started treating them with Extra Strength Tylenol, then Excedrin PM. They progressively got worse. This was the fourth medication my primary doctor prescribed, and it really helped, but my neurologist said 70% of patients suffer rebound headaches from it. He said to use it occasionally (3-6 times/year). Now I'm on preventive medication (daily dosages), with this as a back-up when a severe migraine hits."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "I have been taking this medication since 1992 due to an auto collision causing spinal injury. It's been the only thing to work for both my spinal pain and migraines. About 5 years ago, I started seeing that my prescription was coming from a company named Hikma Mfg. That's when an issue of extreme dizziness occurred. In 2021, I discovered that the company Hikma Mfg from Jordan (not USA) was buying up as many pharma companies as it could. Their name was no longer on the bottles, but I knew they were behind the mfg. of a particular bottle when I became extremely dizzy. Since then, the medical system I have has agreed to let me find companies that are not owned by Hikma, and so, I have no adverse reaction to the medication. I can no longer find posts of over 10 years from patients talking about their adverse reactions from Hikma owned companies. I reported to the FDA but was ignored. I would like to know if anyone else had had this happen to them or knows someone who has."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "For over 20 years, Fiorinal in the capsule form has been very effective in stopping my migraines, as long as I take a capsule at the beginning onset of the migraine and not wait until it is a full-blown one. Taking Fiorinal doesn't cause me drowsiness or make me feel groggy. I am able to function normally soon after I take one capsule. Rarely does my migraine return after the medication has worn off. I find that Fiorinal works quickly in stopping my migraines, within 15 to 30 minutes after I have taken a capsule. I find that it is not as quick acting for me in tablet form."

"It's the best thing that they've ever prescribed me for my migraines, and it doesn't really have any side effects. I agree with some of the comments, whoever doesn't want to pay for that medication or whoever they are should start paying for it. It is necessary to get rid of these headaches."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "I’ve taken Fiorinal with codeine for 45 years. The minute I get aura, I take one. In about 20 minutes, when I can see again, is when the pain begins. With Fiorinal, I can function. It’s a dull pain but bearable. I always carry one with me, learned the hard way years ago. Nothing else has ever helped."

"This medicine helps me with debilitating migraines and muscle tension headaches. It's inexpensive, but for some reason FDA doesn't approve, and in turn, insurance companies bow down to the alphabet agencies no matter what the doctor and patient decide is the best treatment. I've tried many migraine-approved medications, and they do not work for me due to having Raynaud's. I'm so tired of insurance and government agencies gatekeeping my healthcare."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "Been on a combo of Fioricet, tramadol, Flexeril. Worked great. Was on for more than 25 years, now can't find a doctor to prescribe them. They act like the barbiturate in it is as dangerous as codeine or cocaine. Really? Been on it most of my life. I was on a pretty high dose, 2 Fioricet, 2 tramadol, one Flexeril all 3 times daily. But, not near the migraines I do now. Oh, don't forget the Zofran for nausea. I have a migraine now and it lasts 4 days. Nothing to take but ibuprofen, so hard on my esophagus and stomach."

"I have used this with other meds, including Imitrex, Tylenol, aspirin, and tramadol. It seems to work very well, as I have both painful and non-painful optical-type migraines. It works quickly to help terminate the migraine. In cases I have lingering symptoms, I have had injections of Toradol."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "In November 2015, I saw my doctor about headaches - he saw a correlation to 'a stubborn cold,' which I did not have active signs of, and suggested OTC meds or later prescribed meds with steroids. The major problem with my 'bad' headaches diminished until a week before Christmas - migraines, not just bad headaches. On Wednesday, 1/6/2016, I went to an emergency clinic and was prescribed Fiorinal, specifically to address migraines. Any time my headaches were severe, I ate and took two Fiorinals. The pills did nothing to diminish my headaches. Instead, I napped often with a blindfold. Today, 1/11/2016, I took two before work. I rated my migraine at 7-8 out of 10 (high pain). At work, I took 1 OTC (brand name) migraine pill; I rated it a 4."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "I take one capsule for each migraine when I see the scintillating scotoma/aura coming on. It works so well for me. I just wind up with a slight headache after the aura has ended, which is completely tolerable. It works best if I take it at the first signs of the aura, before any migraine pain has started. I carry the medication with me always, just in case I may need it, which is fortunately only a few times a year. It is truly the right tool for the job. I do feel a little weird the next day after I've taken it, which I refer to as a 'headache hangover.' I'm slightly dizzy, my head feels 'hollow' for lack of a better word, and I'm just a little off. But I will take that side effect over a migraine anytime."

"I have no family history of migraines. They started after my hysterectomy when I was 24. I am 71 now and just had one Friday and Saturday. They start with the auras that I cannot see, then it has to go from one eye to the other, then it starts with the nausea and headache. I have to go into a dark room, no noise, and a cold cloth covering my eyes. If I can get the medicine when it starts, it helps a lot. I usually have my head sore, not headache, for a few days after. No fun."

"Used this for twenty years. I have had migraines for years. Before and after monthly periods were worse. But I could go to work and usually push forward. Affordable too. Neurologist just gave me a different prescription but cost is just too much $900."

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "Dosed 6 by itself every 6-hour dosing, exclusively in the past. Now I generally am prescribed 2.5 mg PO hydromorphone between each Fioricet dose (still every 6 hours) to get me out of my status migrainosis within a week! Normally, I have to suffer for 2-4 with the sumatriptan!"

Aspirin / butalbital / caffeine "This medicine is frequently prescribed to me when I end up in the ER for a particularly bad migraine. It does very little for my headaches, dulls the pain a bit for several hours and then once it wears off, I'm back to square one. Not practical for me to take this one unless I have the day off from work."

"It really helps with headaches and migraines. It works well with my allergy and sinus medicine. I experience horrible migraines since I fell last year, and the sinus allergies that I had before the fall are bad, but the throbbing migraine with them is very painful. I don’t drink alcohol or do illegal drugs; all because I don’t handle the aftereffects well, so don’t. Since I hit 63 and fell last year, I’ve had migraines (when I fell, I did not hit my head) as bad as debilitating hangovers, for example. I can take the butalbital, aspirin, caffeine 59-325-40, and within a thirty-minute span, my migraine headache is easing, and within an hour, I can handle the day with somewhat of a smile."
