For Narcolepsy "I have been on nuvigil 150mg for almost 4 months. I was previously on Adderall 20mg twice a day for several years and Ritalin before that. Nuvigil does absolutely nothing for me. I can't stay awake, cannot function, very depressed. I would much rather go back on Adderall."

For ADHD "I went undiagnosed with severe ADHD for 20 years because another problem was complicating the diagnosis. I had been taking various energy drinks in an effort to concentrate. Just a few days ago, I was given a prescription for Nuvigil. Wow. This stuff hit me like a mac truck! It was unlike anything I have ever experienced. For once, I actually had the drive and motivation to organize things and get things done. I immediately proceeded to straighten every single thing in my room, down to the last bits of lint on the carpet. I like the new me. I hope it lasts."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and was prescribed Provigil, insurance denied coverage. Doctor then gave me samples of Nuvigil 150mg. WOW! what a difference, first couple of days a few heart racing minutes but then after that, it was great. Ran out so asked doctor to order at pharmacy, insurance denied again. When I take Nuvigil I can work all day and sleep just fine at night, instead of taking a 3 hour nap after school and then back to bed at 8PM. I have so much energy, I take it at lunch time, this way it won't wear off too soon. I have skipped days to make samples last and there is definitely a difference in my quality of life. Actually I HAVE A LIFE when I take Nuvigil."

For Narcolepsy "I found myself sleeping all day against my will and it was depressing to be so unproductive. After I was accepted to vet school, I knew I needed to figure out why I was so tired all the time. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy without cataplexy. I immediately started Nuvigil in an attempt to get regulated before I started school. About a week in, I experienced anxiety, and a racing heart on a few different days. My symptoms soon subsided, and I found my quality of life drastically improved. I take it in the morning before class, and I was able to stay awake all day with very little problem. I still have good days and bad, but my worst day is still better than my life before it. I am so thankful for my doctor and Nuvigil."

For Narcolepsy "This medication takes time to get into and out of my system. The transitions are terrible for me. Lots of anxiety and scatterbrains. I am very emotional on this medication. When I am tired of the lump in my throat I quit taking it. When I can't stay awake and my job is at risk I try again. The end results are always the same. I don't want to do anything, go anywhere, and can't quit crying. The first time I took it 2 months. The second time I took it 5 months. And now I have been on it 5 days and am calling it quits. It does not keep me awake. I get huge headaches. There is no reason to live for me while using this medication."

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "Been on this RX since its release, prior to that Provigil. (I've also had 5 OSA corrective surgical operations that weren't mindblowingly successful for 4+ months of downtime & in-&-out of the hospital with complications for a month.). I take 500 mg/day in 2 doses split by 5 hours, each dose with 20 mg dexadrine. (Plus a 3rd 20 mg dose of dex) To be short, I couldn't have the energy to write this message let alone work or at times even drive. For me its all about the timing of the doses, took me years to find the RIGHT way to take this RX for ME. 250 didn't work, 2 different insurance companies approved 500. Be prepared to fight for approval, don't give up, I got used to hearing no until I followed all insurance steps for complex approval"

For ADHD "After a few days on Nuvigil (after experiencing Provigil) I found it to be excellent for my ADHD. Provigil made me feel anxious all day to the point I could not run or workout in comfort. The first day on Nuvigil was the only day I had this feeling. The side effects for me are dry mouth and suppressed appetite. It is so nice to be focused. The worst effect was muscle weakness! I went from running 7 miles to not being about to run more then 7 minutes. "

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I am on Nuvigil now and have been for several months. I take the 250mg tabs. Before Nuvigil, I took Provigil for over a year and my doctor told me that Nuvigil was a new refined version of Provigil. They work great for a while, then your body gets used to it; I will go a day or two without it and it seems to work better that way. My insurance did not want to pay for Provigil, so my doctor wrote a letter that it was imperative for my quality of life, so they started paying. When I switched to Nuvigil, nothing was ever said about it. It does make me more alert, but I can still lay down and take a nap while taking it. It is sure better than nothing, Or I would be in bed 24/7 as before."

For Shift Work Sleep Disorder "I am an industrial electrician. I work rotating 12 hours. After enough time my body got used to it and I was able to make it through the nights and not feel awful. Then I heard a commercial for Nuvigil. So I figured I would give it a try. This is not a miracle. This won't give you special powers and a super intelligence. What it has allowed me to do was still be able to think when I couldn't before. At 3 in the morning when a problem presents itself I need to be able to think through it. I don't feel an energy rush like with a cup of coffee. I feel like a normal person again. I'm able to not feel lethargic every single minute I'm awake."

For ADHD "Having been told over 12 yrs ago that I had ADHD I have tried several medicines. The main one I used is Adderall 30mg twice a day. This has proven very effective. Having tried both Provigil and Nuvigil both I believe Nuvigil to be the better of the two. None of the traditional side effects of speed and Nuvigil is very clean. So much so and I know this sounds goofy but you don't even realize it's working until you shake your head an realize how focused, alert and clear thinking you have been."

For Shift Work Sleep Disorder "I work nights in the Emergency Department as an RN at a large, very busy trauma center and have been for the past three years. This medication has been a lifesaver in terms of maintaining alertness throughout my shift without the shakes and nervous feeling like being overdosed on caffeine pills or energy drinks. I take the 250mg pill 1-2 hours before my shift at 7 pm and it carries me throughout the night. I used to take Provigil 100mg for two years before Nuvigil came out and found that I was taking up to 200mg doses a night. Nuvigil is great because it is cheaper, even with insurance and seems to last longer. I only take it four times a week when I work and that three day off time provides enough time for my body to not get used to it."

For Fibromyalgia "I love this medication because of the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I have such a hard time getting motivated and not wanting to sleep all the time. This medication helps me stay awake. I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a prescription card out there usually at the doctors office. It will help with the co-pay and usually takes up to $50.00 off of the cost of the medication. "

For Depression "Be careful of medically induced hypo mania. I took this for years. Helped with depression and I decided to put up with increased anxiety and racing thoughts. Without my realizing it, I became extremely manic and caused irrational and destructive behavior. Thank God, switched doctors and medicines (to Lamictal). I wish I had known this can induce manic behavior! Please be careful because mania lies to you and makes you think all is well."

For ADHD "Very effective. Eliminates the anxiety associated with ADHD. Able to process and function. None of the jittery side effects that I had with Adderall, Straterra or Concerta. It was the smoothest thing I ever took. The only two knocks is that the medicine is off labeled and will not be covered by my insurance. Out of pocket can be $3-$400 a month? I can't cover that, so my joy will be short lived. "

For Shift Work Sleep Disorder "I'm a firefighter/paramedic and I've been on Nuvigil for about 4 days now and I love it. I have never been a fan of taking medications but when between working 24 hour shifts, school full time and my 3 year old daughter I found myself exhausted all the time. I started drinking energy drinks and they worked but after awhile they got expensive so I started taking caffeine pills. After awhile my body needed the caffeine everyday but I didn't necessarily need it every day which I didn't like. I also didn't like my heart racing with the caffeine. Since starting Nuvigil I haven't had caffeine at all and I didn't have much of a withdrawal phase. It has had all the positive effects for me like a stimulant with none of the negative."

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "It has made my world a different place, I've been on Nuvigil for 3 years. My ability to think and perform my job have been restored and enhanced to a higher state of mind. I have read it is used by the military pilots for long missions without the aggression side effects of amphetamine based medication."

For Depression "150 mg NuVigil does work somewhat for my depression, but the primary effects wear off after a few hours and I feel more tired than usual. It is better than any SSRI, SNRI, MAOI, atypical, or tricyclic antidepressant that I have taken."

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have been taking Provigil for several years now. I just started Nuvigil today, and it feels much different. It used to be that I took one Provigil and I would be sleepy and have fog head, but two Provigils made me feel wired and nauseous. Today I took one Nuvigil around 10:30 am and have felt even and awake all day long. Hopefully this will last."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "Nuvigil works so well that I am now able to function in most aspects of my day. Before Nuvigil, I was hardly able to perform activities of daily living. Now, I am able to do grocery shopping, run errands, etc. I am much, much more alert. I had tried Ritalin before Nuvigil and Ritalin made me a nervous wreck whereas Nuvigil is easy and without the shaking. The cost of Nuvigil is outrageous. "

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have just started taking Nuvigil for a few days now. For the last few years I have been taking medicines to calm me down and ease my stress levels. I felt like I was a walking zombie most of the time when I was awake, but most of the time I just slept. I can't believe how amazing this medicine is, the cloudiness is gone I feel like Rip Van Winkle when he finally woke up. Wow!"

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have suffered with severe OSAH syndrome for 15 years. I have undergone two surgeries to help "clear" my airway with very short-term positive effects. For years, I "slept" for at least nine hours a night and still napped for 2 - 4 hours every day. I awoke EVERY morning with my uvula so swollen it felt like I was swallowing it, and with a severely dry mouth and nagging headache. When I was awake, I was in a fog. CPAP helped, but I still had to nap during the day. 6 months ago my pulmonologist prescribed Nuvigil and my life changed. It is a miracle medication. I never go without my CPAP and I take 250 mg Nuvigil around 9am and I can now have a normal, productive day. In addition, as long as I am CPAP compliant, my insurance pays all but $5."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have had chronic fatigue syndrome for over 20 years and it controlled and stole my life. Nuvigil has given it back to me. Prior to Nuvigil, I would collapse at around 1 pm and have to sleep around 2-3 hours, then I would have to go to bed by 9 every night. Now I am living an almost normal life. I don't need naps and go to bed at 9-10pm and find that my mental alertness is greatly increased (i.e. it seems to counteract "figrofog"). Drawbacks are increased blood pressure and insurance won't cover it."

For Narcolepsy "Idiopathic Hypersomnia - Nuvigil has been available for prescription for two weeks; I have been taking it for five days. 50mg once in the morning. I do not have trouble falling asleep at night, which I did on Provigil. Nuvigil is rather expensive to fill, more than $1 per pill for my copay. It has helped my daytime sleepiness somewhat, but not taken it away completely. I still get strong urges to nap, but they are more resistible. I sleep less at night, more like 7-9 hours than 8-10. The big problem is that Nuvigil appears to be triggering migraines for me. I have chronic migraine syndrome and I usually get one per week, but for the first four days on Nuvigil I got three migraines. I will have to discontinue it if this side effect doesn't stop."
