Reviews for Armodafinil

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Bipolar Disorder: “My Bipolar II Disorder is horribly debilitating when my medications are not working or are in the middle of being adjusted. However, when the depression and sleep problems (racing thoughts as soon as I lie down, interrupted sleep, not sleeping at all, etc.) are added to the mix, my life becomes completely unbearable. As soon as my doctor gave me Nuvigil it was like I became myself again! The difference was phenomenal. I felt "normal." It is a total miracle that I can get up and do the dishes, fold laundry, shop...all the simple things that so many people take for granted. Nuvigil gives me the energy that Bipolar Disorder steals from me.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome: “I am a 32 year old male and this is my second day on Nuvigil. Although I feel more alert at the start of the day, later in the day when the medicine wears off, oh boy does it wear off. I'm also feeling more hyper, moody, and an overall wanting to scream type feeling. I'm going to give it a few more days.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome: “I started this medicine two days ago. It was working great. I was alert and my wife was enthused that I was able to have conversation with her. The second day my face got a rash and was swelling. I ended up in the ER. Truly upset because think it would have done great if weren't for side effects”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: “I am a new user of Nuvigil 150mg, so far I have experienced more energy, less sleepy moments. ”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “Really good medicine for me. I don't sleep any during the day, and my drive to do what needs to be done has more than doubled. I take 250mg 1 x time a day. The only side effect was dry mouth for me. My doctor also gave me 1mg of Xanax to take at the end of the day. It helps me with anxiety and helps me get a great nights rest. Both the medications work well together for me.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “I started Nuvigil 250 mg in the morning, two weeks ago after being diagnosed with narcolepsy. I went from sleeping all night and basically most of the day with extreme napping before the Nuvigil to no naps at all. I don't even feel sleepy. That is a plus. The first three days were a miracle! I was alert. Colors seemed brighter. I felt focused for the first time in years. Slowly, I started having afternoon side effects of a dull headache. I feel "car sick" and jittery, and my skull feels actually numb to touch. I hope this subsides soon or I may try halving my dose of 250mg.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “A doctor in the ER prescribed me 200 mg of Provigil when I was first diagnosed with Narcolepsy. It didn't seem to have any effect on me at all. Then I went to see my sleep doctor and he prescribed me 250 mg of Nuvigil. It finally allowed me to stay awake for an entire day. But if I went out somewhere I would be able to come home and take a nap and be fully awake again. Taking that with Xyrem makes me feel 98%..not quite 100, but still pretty great.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome: “My first day on Nuvigil. I have not had this much energy in years and I'm only in my late 30s. Only side effects I've noticed so far are some very mild nausea. Just enough to suppress my appetite which is actually a good side effect. Had a mild headache this afternoon a couple of hours after taking the pill but cannot say that it was a result of the medication.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: “Have been on Nuvigil 150 for about a week for MS related fatigue. It gives me energy to stay awake but after 7 or 8 in the evening, I am beat. Only problem is I don't sleep well and my appetite is nonexistent.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: “I suffer from SAD and dealing with people and students (yes, I understand the irony of the career choice) on a daily basis leaves me burned out most days from the stress of teaching to 300 students and dealing with people, in general, but a simple combination of Xanax (0.25 mg) before a class and daily Nuvigil (75 mg) completely erased the problem. I work all day, I'm calm and focused in classes, and with a Xanax (0.5mg) before bed I sleep a full night without problems.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Drowsiness: “I have anxiety/panic attacks and fibromyalgia. Fun! So, unfortunately I get sick with Lyrica at higher doses where it actually kills the fibromyalgia pain. After months of trial and errors, we've finally found that 100mg of Pristiq, 20mg of Methadone, 225mg of Lyrica and 300mg of Tramadol is the only thing that will stop the pain. For the anxiety the Pristiq helps and also 3mg of Klonopin stops the panic (also took months of trial and error in addition to therapy). With this large amount of depressant style drugs, at times it was very hard for me to stay awake during the daytime. 150mg of Nuvigil for me has totally solved this problem. The first week I felt strange and over stimulated, and now I just feel normal and awake, from 6:00am to 10:30pm.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Drowsiness: “I was diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia after months of falling asleep during the day and very early at night. It very much affects my life, making me feel overwhelmed and unable to complete what a normal person should be able to do. I was put on Nuvigil and a few hours after taking the first pill, I began to feel jittery. It lasted a couple of hours and as that feeling left, I got migraines. The migraines lasted for 2 days. I then had 2 days where I felt absolutely awesome - I slept fine at night and had ample energy to get through my day. The next 2 days, I felt tired and dragging again. The last day, I was tired, depressed, and crying on and off all day. I am now off the medication.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome: “My sleep apnea doctor prescribed this for me as I still felt tired during the day. This has been a miracle drug. I have energy during the day, think clearly, and have noticed my memory recall is much better. (I am 51) The down side of this drug is that it is not covered by most insurance. Too bad... because I feel so much better and alert with this medication.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy about a week ago. I started taking Nuvigil 150mgs and at first, I felt as though I could see life with clear eyes. Colors were also brighter. But then, a day or so has passed and I am completely exhausted. I had a sleep attack at work and I didn't fall asleep, but I felt very weak and could have easily gone to sleep. I hope this improves. I know I need to give this medicine a chance though.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Shift Work Sleep Disorder: “I started Nuvigil last week. I was only sleeping 3-4 hrs per day for the first few days, so on my day off, I didn't take it. However, this week, I sleep as normal. I get 4 hrs of sleep in the morning, and then take a 2-3 hr nap before work at night.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: “I began suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome about a year ago. Didn't know I had it, just knew I was sleeping more than I was awake. Just diagnosed in January and have been taking Nuvigil since then. Started at 150 mg a day, but it wore off by mid afternoon. Have since increased the dosage to two pills a day. I take the second pill in the afternoon and it keeps me going for another 6 hours or so. I haven't had to take a nap since I started taking the medication and I am able to concentrate more. I feel more alert and can get much more accomplished during the day. I don't have trouble sleeping or staying asleep. This medication has been a miracle that has given me back my life.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “I got diagnosed with Narcolepsy about a month ago. I got prescribed Nuvigil and took it for two weeks straight. The medicine had some side effects like headaches, but soon my body got use to the medicine. I'm a college student so it's crucial that I stay awake when I'm in class, and Nuvigil helps me do that. Its effects slowly begin to work so I have to take it early in the morning.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Drowsiness: “I took a full pill the first day, which was stupid, as I'm very sensitive to medication. I felt like I was on speed. I was talking really fast, my hands were shaking, my heart was beating a million miles an hour, felt like an anxiety attack. I also got a horrible headache and nausea later in the day. I didn't take it again for a month and then I cut the pill into quarters. For a week I took 37.5 mg a day. I got a few headaches, dizziness and nausea through the day, but tolerable. 3 days ago I upped it to 75mg. I still don't feel any help with sleepiness! Still am dizzy, headaches, nausea, lack of appetite. But I'm going to wait it out and keep upping it to 150 and see if it ever starts working. Hopefully the side effects go away soon!”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “The first couple of days it seemed to work great. I did get a slight headache at the times I normally dosed off. I could not fall to sleep for the first few days. After a week the effects are starting to wear off. I am tired and have no energy, but I am not falling asleep. I am taking one pill 150 mg in the morning. I have not taken any other medicine for narcolepsy before, so I have nothing to compare it to.”

Nuvigil or Crash January 17, 2010

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: “I have been on Nuvigil for about year and although my body is used to it, it still works and is crucial for my quality of life. I have had numerous surgeries on my spine, plus a lot of my tendons have torn (both rotator cuffs) plus both my Achilles have tiny ruptures, leaving knots on the back of my heels. My body is falling apart, but at least the Nuvigil keeps me at a pace I can handle. Two weeks ago my insurance failed to pay and my doctor gave me sample of 150mg (I had been on 250mg before). Now I am out of it all and I have crashed. My nurse called and said that it had been approved for 6 more months, so I actually get to pick it up tomorrow. Maybe I will be able to get out of the bed now and get things done.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome: “I was on Provigil for about 2 yrs, but when my doctor switched me to Nuvigil, it was so much better. I felt as if I had my life back and for months it worked. With both Provigil and Nuvigil, they work great for a while, then they seem to loose their power. I still have chronic fatigue, plus muscle weakness. I am hoping that my doctor will try me on something else.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: “I never have side effects from medicines so I foolishly took Nuvigil without reading the literature. Couldn't figure out where the headaches, fever and general feeling of 'being sick' came from. Palpitations, the tingling in extremities, feeling as though my mind was always two steps ahead of my reactions...just too much. I feel fortunate nothing worse happened.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Drowsiness: “Today was my second day on Nuvigil for idiopathic hypersomnia. I was sleeping around 10 hours a night and napping 2-4 hours per day before this medicine. These were my first two days without a nap in months! However, I still feel tired. I shouldn't complain, it's definitely an improvement. ”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Drowsiness: “I have been very pleased with Nuvigil. I have not had side effects. In my experience the only problem I have had is that it wears off too soon. My doctor increased the dose and it lasted a bit longer but it is still wearing off sooner than I would like.”

Nuvigil (armodafinil) for Narcolepsy: “I have been taking Provigil 3 x 200mg tabs in the morning. It works but not great. I would be sitting at my desk and do "head bobs". This is not acceptable to me. My doctor suggested I try Nuvigil. I started taking it last week. I took one 250mg in the morning. It is a sleeping pill to me. This week has been the longest week for me. I am fighting to stay away at work. I am interested to see if other have this same reaction to Nuvigil.”
