Apixaban "Not sure actually that it worked except for nosebleeds and bruises, along with 10 minutes to stop any small cut from bleeding. It was prescribed because I had Afib with PVCs and benign premature ventricular contractions. Needed to take it because Afib was controlled by medication. After 8 years, I had an ablation, and now, 4 years later, still in sinus rhythm. I think it’s affecting my joints, weakening my muscles and skin negatively. I think I should stop taking it and have an Eliquis vacation to see if it is the cause of cramps, aches, and pains. 14 years I’ve been taking it. Never stopped Eliquis, but I stopped everything else to see if it was the cause."

Apixaban "Eliquis gave me my mom back. Mom had a stroke years before Eliquis was available and was put on aspirin and Plavix. Over the years, she deteriorated mentally and physically from the stroke, and her dementia had almost completely incapacitated her mentally. She finally had another stroke, and the doc took her off the aspirin and Plavix and put her on Eliquis. In less than a week, Mom was almost back to her pre-first-stroke self, mentally. We had almost a whole good year with Mom mentally/dementia-wise. I really, really wish Eliquis had been around years earlier so Mom could have gotten it after Stroke 1 (or even before then) because it made such a difference after Stroke 2. The only thing was Mom had to be moved from 5 mg to 2.5 mg because she was very elderly and small and had some minor bleeding behind her eyes. This resolved itself almost immediately after the dosage change."

Apixaban "I have been on Eliquis 5mg AM and 5mg PM for 5 years now. I was able to take myself off of Losartan by reducing my blood pressure myself, I lost weight and started eating better. I also take Metoprolol twice a day and have reduced that too. I have had ZERO side effects from the Eliquis for 5 years and feel very fortunate that Tricare provides it for me because Kaiser will not approve it until you have thrown blood clots throughout your brain and other arteries, and inevitably end up dying from a Stroke or Mesenteric Ischemia (dead bowel) such as my sister did on Pradaxa and Xarelto. I think Apixaban/Eliquis is the best, and I have done my research. It has the lowest Stroke or bleed rates of all three."

"I was given apixaban for atrial fibrillation and I got side effects of extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, and lightheadedness. I slept for 3 days with this drug and realized this drug was no good. I lost all motivation to achieve any new goals. Terrible stuff."

Apixaban "I was diagnosed with aFib 2 years ago. Initially, my primary care physician prescribed Eliquis. Initially, I said, I'm not taking that. When I researched it and what it prevents, I decided to. The cardiologist who performed the cardioversion told me that I can go off of it 9 months after the procedure, but she said most people decide to stay on it. I'm 68, and Eliquis is the ONLY drug I take. I take 5mg twice per day. I have no ill effects from it. The aFib has not returned. I do have vein issues in my legs, and that is another reason I'm staying on it."

Apixaban "I have been on Eliquis for 4-6 months. I have had all good results. The only complaint I have is the price. I have been getting free samples from my doctor at this time. I have no drug insurance. I am 66 years old, have MS, RA, high BP, and atrial fibrillation. Taking Eliquis has not added to any of my problems. I no longer have pains in my chest area."

Apixaban "Just started, and so far, not bad. However, this medicine company is all about making money. Overly priced, and it's said because most insurance companies only cover a small portion of the cost. The average before deductible is 560 dollars for 30 2.5 milligram pills. It's really not right how they hold your life hostage to get rich. You will lose your house after paying for this medicine. So many people are complaining about the price, yet they still hold your life in their hands."

Apixaban "First dose of Eliquis Mar 25, final COVID injection April 22, heart ablation May 6, then May 12 I could not walk. Have all symptoms mentioned in reviews I have read. The pain in the feet was unbelievable, bedridden for almost 4 months, spent 3 days in the ER, test after test, all came back clear."

"This medication, apixaban, is awful. I take 5 mg twice a day, it causes me dizziness several times a day, though each bout only lasts for a second. My fingers and body continue to tingle for several seconds afterward, not to mention the ringing in my ears. Additionally, I itch all over and have sores on my head. It has got to the point where I have just resigned from my job as a development manager, as I felt uncomfortable on the occasions this happened when dealing with customer problems."

Apixaban "In 2018, I had awful experiences (side effects) with a competitive blood thinner, Xarelto. In early February 2022, my cardiologist prescribed Eliquis. What a difference! Even though twice the copay, absolutely worth the extra out-of-pocket expense."

"I was put on apixaban in Jan 2016 after taking a few attacks of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). I also have a small leak at the mitral valve and will be on medication for life. I was also prescribed bisoprolol to lower BP. I felt terrible, as if I had chains around my ankles and was dragging them every step I took. I read up on the two drugs, but both had similar side effects, so I went to my GP in 2017 and changed the bisoprolol to atenolol. I still had the side effects, so I have come to the conclusion that it was the apixaban all along causing the problems. I get abdominal pain daily and get so breathless even doing the slightest thing. I can't go out shopping as I used to do, as the breathlessness is awful. My GP said my oxygen levels were fine, but I feel as if there is a giant peg on my nose and cannot get a breath. It has been worse since COVID, as the masks make me feel worse. The only good thing is that I haven't had any more AFib attacks since 2017. I wonder if half the 5 mg dose 2x day would help. I am a woman of 74."

"I have been on apixaban for approximately eight months. I am a 73-year-old male, and within that eight-month period, I have had a bleed behind my left knee from using apixaban. The doctor said just to rest my leg and come off apixaban for five days and it goes. I'm not really prepared to live my life this way. Has anyone else had any bleeds? The doctor said not to come off the drug, but I’m not sure I want to stay on it."

Apixaban "I have been diagnosed with palpitations and occasional afib. I was resistant to starting Eliquis, but after much research, I have been on it for a few weeks. I have not experienced any of the severe side effects others have described. Ultimately, my decision came down to this: Do I prefer to have a stroke or endure some potentially annoying side effects? I chose the latter. I’m only 66 and very active. For those considering taking themselves off Eliquis, please be aware you may be putting yourself at a greater risk of a stroke. I recommend getting an Apple Watch if you can, to monitor your heart rate, afib events, etc."

"My 93-year-old mother has had 2 respiratory problems in 3 months, which required hospitalization, firstly for 8 days because of a heart attack/atrial fibrillation event and secondly for 3 days with more respiratory problems, which were eventually diagnosed as being due to a urinary tract infection. During this second period, she was put on apixaban 2.5 mg twice a day. She was discharged before any was administered by the hospital; I was given it, and we started the next morning. She was in good shape when she left the hospital, but steadily started to decline to the point where she was badly confused, incapable of walking, her speech was almost unintelligible, and her appetite has disappeared totally. She will not eat at all now."

"I was prescribed this drug after my third stroke. After one week, I found severe joint pains: knee, elbows, shoulder. After another week, the aches spread: wrist, ankle, and spine. I stopped taking it, but after a further two weeks, my symptoms persist."

Apixaban "After a stroke in 2018, I began using warfarin, but going for a blood test every week or two got old pretty fast. I was switched to Eliquis, couldn't afford $700.00+ a month, so my cardiologist gave me a discount card for a $10 copay. When it expired, I applied to renew it, but at the time, I didn't have prescription coverage on my insurance. So they said if I didn't have insurance, they couldn't renew. I went back to warfarin. When I changed insurance and had drug coverage, I reapplied and was given another card. Recently, it expired again, and I was told that I didn't qualify because I have insurance (so which is it?). And the discount is only given so people can try it and see how it works for them. I liked the drug, had no side effects, easy to use, wish I could continue it, but guess it's back to warfarin and all the blood work."

"I wish to add to my post: Once off the apixaban, I started to feel better, it took about a week-no more shortness of breath, no need for inhalers, decreased amounts of phlegm, improved energy, and my voice is normal again."

"When I was on Eliquis for Afib that comes and goes, I developed terrible pain in both hips and both shoulders. I would wake up in the worst pain and could hardly walk. I had to go off it. Now I have been told I have bone-on-bone arthritis in my hip and need a replacement. I never had any of this until I went on Eliquis. All of it happened within the first year and a half that I was on it. I hate Eliquis. I believe it caused my arthritis!"

Apixaban "I have been taking Eliquis since 2017 without any side effects. I take 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night. I had an operation in 2021, and I stopped the medication 3 days prior and went back 2 weeks after. In 2022, I had 3 kidney stones removed, and I followed the same procedure as before. My aunt is 96 years old and has been taking Eliquis for many years, she highly encouraged me to take it as prescribed with no hesitation."

"I was on rivaroxaban, but had severe jaw pain as well as other side effects. So they changed me to apixaban. I then had most of the listed common side effects, but the most severe was toothache. I am now on warfarin, been off apixaban for 6 days but still have gastric stomach and toothache. Has anyone else had these side effects? Really need it to stop."

"I had a heart attack and underwent an emergency double heart bypass. There were complications that left me in an induced coma for 17 days. This was three years ago. I was only 47 years old. I had a defibrillator/pacemaker fitted. Two weeks ago, it activated. I had made a huge effort over the past three months to address my health. I lost 21 kg in weight. I didn't crash diet but more so drank protein shakes and fruit. Then all of a sudden, I kept feeling dizzy. I had lost a lot of energy. Even walking 100 meters was difficult. Then my defibrillator activated. I was taken to the hospital. My defibrillator was adjusted and I was placed on apixaban. Within hours, I felt great."

"Prescribed for atrial defibrillation. Doesn't help symptoms of palpitations at all... which are more extreme now than before commencing medication. Not keen on taking drugs just for the sake of it. Taken with 'Isoprenaline,' which affects my balance and causes a general feeling of disorientation. Can I ask for different medication?"

"I started this drug about two months ago as I have AF now for a few years, off and on. Two ablations were unsuccessful before getting a pacemaker. Dosage is 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night. I take Flecainide to try to control the AF. I am on BP medication and a few others as well as diabetes type 2. My heart doctor, on my last look at what my AF has been doing with the pacemaker download over the last few months, and because the AF is lasting longer and more frequent, he took me off the aspirin blood thinner and said I need an anti-blood clotting medication, which is Apixaban. So far so good as I have no side effects at all. I'm sure the Apixaban is not as bad as aspirin for digestive and stomach discomfort. I hope it stays this way. I am seventy-seven years old male. I have also had asthma all my life, which is my main concern. I won't know if my AF is getting better or worse until I see my heart surgeon again. I don't feel the AF, so I don't know it's happening."
