Amoxil (amoxicillin) for Pneumonia "I have bacterial pneumonia with 2 spots on my lungs after the flu. Not much nasal involvement. Bad headache, body ache, fever and chills. Deep dry cough. Started Levaguin by IV at the ER but within an hour I got hives on mouth and neck and slightly itchy all over, then 3 bouts of projectile vomiting. Then tried Clavimycin but developed hives after 2 days. Both meds helped me feel better and headache & fever went away. Now on amoxicillin-clav 875, twice a day. Symptoms are very slowly improving. Only a bit of loose stool. Probiotics and bland diet help."

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking Amoxicillin for an inner ear infection. It knocked the pain and tenderness out pretty quick, but after just a couple of days of taking it, I started having trouble breathing. No matter how many times I yawn or try to take a deep breath, it doesn't work. It's like I can't get enough oxygen. It's been frustrating feeling like I can't catch my breath, and has made it difficult to get to sleep. But at least my ear infection is better!"

For Dental Abscess "Amoxicillin worked the first time I had this dental infection. The infection has come back 3 times now and amoxicillin, for me, is pointless but of course the drs don't listen or think I'm exaggerating."

For Dental Abscess "Took this for a tooth abcess. Tooth ache went away but was replaced by other pains. Feels like every muscle on my body is sore especially the legs and lower back. Throwing up and also have diarrhea. Massive headache. The body ache is so bad I laid in bed crying, and I have a pretty high threshold for pain usually. I cannot seem to get out of bed and cannot find a comfortable position for my legs and back. Also just started having a fever of 99.4 degrees. I took this about 7 to 8 hours ago, not sure if I'd rather have the toothache or these side effects that's how bad this is. I've taken amoxicillin in the past and did not have any of these problems, not sure what changed. (or maybe this is my body reaction to the abscess ?)"

For Bacterial Infection "Been given as I have a infection in my wisdom tooth which I've got a specialist consultation for in 2 weeks time. So far had 6 of these tablets (one 3x a day so I'm about go onto day 3) No pain relief and no sleep. Not slept right in over a week now but the pain is becoming unbearable. I take morphine, paracetamol & Naproxen for health conditions and none of these have worked with my body. My dentist didn't give me anything apart from the antibiotics and just told me within 2 days I'll be much more painless as the paracetamol should work with the antibiotics. It's 2:28am on the 3rd day several hours before my 7th pill and I'm in so much pain and so tired but cannot sleep. Seem not to work for me, feels like it's getting worse. Will update."

For Dental Abscess "Amoxicillin was helpful!!. I had a toothache that lasted for 3 days. My dentist prescribed this drug and after 2 days of taking it all the pain was gone!! I didn’t follow the right instructions tho there were times I was several hours late of taking it in a prescribed time because I am forgetful or I was sleeping (It was supposed to be taken exactly every 8hrs) I also didn’t even get to finish the whole medicine course just because I didn’t feel pain anymore (which is not good don't do that too) but this antibiotic just that good! I just experienced diarrhea. I usually poop once a day or every other day but this antibiotic made me poop twice a day"

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I've been sick for a week. It started out with headache, throat pain, chills and over all just feeling exhausted. I had rapid strep and culture, both appearing negative. This is 7 days later, no change in symptoms and this morning I woke up with little pus pockets in my throat. I've been taking Alkaseltzer for 7 days and the instructions state to see an MD if taken longer than 1 week, so I went to urgent care and was prescribed Amoxicillin. I took 2 Amoxicillin four hours ago and already feel 90% better! I haven't taken antibiotics for many years. I am grateful to be feeling better so quickly~!"

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I suffered with tonsillitis for 5 days because I was too scared to take this medicine! I regret so badly not taking it sooner. I always have super bad side effects with antibiotics so I was scared, but thankfully I drank a lot of water and ate yogurt with probiotics and I am good. I have noticed it does make me tired and I do feel like the infection is coming out! My body feels a little clammy, almost like when a fever breaks! I took my first dose at 1 pm today and my second at 1 am and I am already feeling better! When I tell you this is the worst pain I've been in, I'm serious! I had lots of pus pockets in my throat, fever, headache, head pain, and my ears hurt. My lymph nodes are swollen. This medicine saved me."

For Bacterial Infection "Infected upper wisdom tooth, causing pain in lower jaw, neck ear and head. 500mg 3x daily. Works great but not immediately. Usually a couple days and your infection will subside. The side effects are watery bowel. Probiotics such as yogurt etc, did not help my side effects from amoxicillin."

For Dental Abscess "I just started taking this medication 4 days ago to prevent infection from wisdom tooth extraction surgery. It has been making me extremely tired and I never had this problem. Today I slept for a total of 17 hours and the first day a total of 14 hours. I have never felt so tired in my life. I have no energy and have had a migraine all day."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "Normally the drug of choice for tonsillitis. I have had chronic tonsillitis for few years and each time only this antibiotic can help. The symptom relief comes relatively slowly (after 2-3 days) compared to just 1 day after taking macrolide antibiotics (Clarithomycin, Spiramycin, Azithromycin, etc). But in my case, treatment with amoxicillin prolongs the time to next out-break significantly."

For Sinusitis "I take amoxicillin everytime I have a sinus infection. It clears it up unbelievably fast. I usually start feeling a little better within a couple of hours. I also never get a vaginal yeast infection that a lot of antibiotics can cause. No other weird side effects for me, other than it might change your bowel pattern a little. No diarrhea though."

For Dental Abscess "Have an infection in the gum/bone and had 2 root canals done. Worst PAIN EVER! I had 3 kids and would gladly have another to trade that pain. Can't eat, can't sleep. Just pain!!! Dentist prescribed Amoxicillin 500mg 3x a day. Didn't have side effects until dentist switched me to Clindamycin 150mg x 2, 4 times a day. OMG!!! That antibiotic is HORRIBLE!!! Along with having terrible reviews, it tore up my stomach. After being in the bathroom several times, my stomach literally hurt for 10 hours straight. I called my dentist and he put me back on the Amoxicillin. Thank God!!! Just not as strong and will take longer to heal I’m guessing but I definitely don't want that stomach pain either."

For Dental Abscess "I was eating one day and when I bite down onto food my whole tooth vibrated through my head like someone had just started drilling through my nerves in my mouth. The pain did not go until after 4 co-codamol and 2 ibuprofen, then my upper stomach started to burn as I had been taking tablets all week and had just taken too many painkillers and started to develop gastritis which is a common condition When the stomach becomes inflamed. I spoke to the dentist and he told me he will give me amoxicillin. I was scared that if they didn't work I will be in this pain for another night or maybe more because due to covid-19 no dentist are running. In the past I have had 4 root canals and many fillings and when you have a root canal its because of a infection or inflammation in the root canal where your nerves are which is why these kind of tooth aches are so painful, so in my experience when taking amoxicillin they have always worked helping with the pain"

For Bacterial Infection "Had been having severe pains on both sides of my neck and went in to see my Primary Physician. He felt my neck glands and they were swollen and the pain was severe. Also ran a low grade temp. Prescribed Amoxicllin 500mg twice a day for 10 days. The Pain has subsided and so has the fever. No side effects, except a little fuzzy headed and lethargic. Have two more days to complete the therapy, even though I feel so much better. Would tell anyone with a fever and infection to go along with Amoxicillin."

For Dental Abscess "I went in for some pain after an injury to my front tooth. The first dentist told me, I’m young enough It can heal, it might get better. I’m 26. A week later, the pain was unbearable. They gave me norco and a root canal at an Endodontist. The surgery went excellent. For 2 days, everything was awesome. Then got an infection with a nasty taste. I called them the 1st day they were open, was prescribed amoxicillin. It helped and I started to get better from it. The amoxicillin side effects ranged from increased sense of smell, yeast infection, and bloody diarrhea. I took my entire xr and was better. After 2 day’s off, I had an infection again. The pain seemed to be higher above the tooth this time. I contacted my dentist, who is sending me back for a 3D X-ray to inspect the area for possible fracture or find another reason it’s not healing. Due to covid shutdown I have to wait 4 days until I’m seen again. Until then I’m treating my infection with old leftover amoxicillin."

For Bacterial Infection "I have been having pain in my back molar off and on for about a week and a half. Right above my crown in my back left top molar. Mostly in the gums. Because of the 2020 pandemic lockdown I was trying to wait it out. While talking to my hygienist friend, she became very concerned and advised me that I could have an abscessed tooth which is a pocket of pus that can form in different parts of a tooth as a result of a bacterial infection. That it sounded like it was in the root of the tooth and the pus was pushing out forming a bump in the gums. The dentist confirmed this. After only one day of the bump showing on my gums and one day usage of the prescription amoxicillin the bump already reduced to non-visible. And the pain has also reduced. I was also warned that if the pain returned, which it may. That we may have to remove the small molar. I am hopeful that this will work as I am already seeing great results and already focusing on rebuilding my immune system following this dose of antibiotics."

I had no side effects, a lot of discharge from my ear and constant pain subsided after day 3. After completing the course, I have mild pain occurring and ear feels full and hearing hasn't return and now right ear the same way, so back to the doctors for me"

For Bacterial Infection "I was given Amoxicillin 500mg 3x daily for 7 days due to an infection. On first taking it, nothing really happened. By the second, I started getting flu-like symptoms. Third - major fatigue. Fourth - irritability. Fifth - diarrhea. Finally, on the sixth/seventh, that's when I noticed it had gotten rid of those nasty bacteria, and was my normal self again. As a plus, it cleared up my skin. Glad I was able to see it through, despite the side effects."

For Dental Abscess "It was a very helpful medication to relieve my symptoms of my dental abscess. However, I'm experiencing some swelling of my upper lip which I'm brushing aside given that the abscess is right under there. No other side effects were noticed. The abscess seems to be going away a bit, still swollen but only on my 3rd dose out of 15. It's working nicely and yet again very useful medicine."

For Dental Abscess "Every time I take Amoxillin I get stomach /abdomen problems and can't control my bowels. Also I feel very anxious and can't think straight. I try not to do anything important as I can't focus at all. Other people I know have also experienced this (thankfully )as I thought I was getting mentally ill! These antibiotics really make you feel low but they work! I was prescribed 3 x 500 mg for a week after dental extraction but could only manage to take 2 a day. I quit after 4 days though I know its important to take the whole course. I try to stay out of the sun when Im on this drug as symptoms are worse if you sunbathe."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was 2 1/2 days into taking 500mg of amoxicillin twice a day. I had sweating, anxiety, panic attacks, had to stop, given I am not the coolest of people and this tipped me over the edge. But in amoxycillin's defence it did in the short space stop the burning wee, as for whether its totally cured the UTI I do not know, I need a break before trying the Nitrofurantoin they now have prescribed."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I thought Amoxicillin was pretty mild. I asked for it when my Urologist prescribed a Cipro-family antibiotic (I think those are REALLY dangerous!)... WRONG. I took the Amoxicillin 500mg 2X/day for 8 days and had to stop. It seemed to stop my UTI (first one ever and I have been on catheters for 2 years) but I didn't expect the side effects of rapid heart rate all the time, anxiety from low grade to intense most of the time, it made me feel weak and nauseous, guts in turmoil, eating anything made it worse, so I had to stop. I had no idea this drug had those side effects for many! AVOID!"
