"I had a sinus infection and was put on Augmentin for a week. I suffered from horrific headaches. I wanted someone to just knock me out because I couldn't handle the horrible headaches all day and night. My taste was affected as well. Even water didn't taste good. My stomach also affected me, and I did take a probiotic. I wouldn't take this medication ever again."

"Acted quickly. Had strep throat, and Dr. prescribed Bactrim, which didn't help. I went back, and Dr. gave Augmentin, and within a few hours, I was feeling much better. Some stomach issues when taking the medicine."

"Was diagnosed with a sinus infection. I have not used antibiotics in years. Put me on Augmentin. Took the fourth dose this morning, so day three. I feel horrible! So tired, foggy, just want to sleep, my heart feels a little racey, bad gas, diarrhea yesterday, bad cramping. Taking with food and probiotics. I am trying to give it a chance, but I can't seem to do anything but sit here. I almost felt better before starting it."

"Right after the first dose, I experienced the worst stomach cramps, gas, bloating... all the way into my chest. It seemed to help my sinus infection, but nothing is worth that type of pain. I couldn't keep food down, I don't have issues with acid reflux until I started taking Augmentin. I tried one more dose before I quit, and I went to my regular doctor, and he agreed that this stuff is harsh on your stomach and changed to a different antibiotic. I tried drinking a lot of water, yogurt, and I increased my intake of probiotics, but so far nothing is helping. I am hoping this horrid feeling will go away eventually."

"Sinus infection had green mucus and coughing green mucus. I take antidepressants and benzodiazepines for anxiety. I’ve taken Augmentin for three days, my anxiety is out the roof, feels like my depression is awful. I’ve been crying. I’m not taking Augmentin again. It works for sinus infection, but the side effects are too much for me."

"I suffer from chronic sinus infections and migraine headaches. I usually can tell if a sinus infection has taken hold when sumatriptan (migraine med) is not working! First go-round a couple years ago with Augmentin 875 mg big pills was awful, and I experienced what others reported with horrible chemo-like diarrhea effects, barely made it through 5 of 10 days, but felt better in head afterwards. Decided to gut it out again a couple years later with another sinus infection after weaker antibiotics did not work and had a much easier time with Augmentin. Perhaps body needs to adjust to this med, but thank God it works!"

"I was prescribed Augmentin for a severe sinus infection. After about 3 days of taking it, I developed this weird skin rash first on the knuckles of both of my ring fingers, then noticed I had the same spots on my knees in the same place on both knees. This spread to both of my elbows also and creeped me out a little, so I just stopped taking the medicine altogether. It did seem to take the sinus infection away, but I make sure to tell my doctors I'm allergic to it now just in case I have a more severe reaction in the future. This rash just looked like red dots, no burning or itching either... Pretty strange."

"Prescribed an 8-day prescription of Augmentin, and I would not recommend this poison to anyone else, EVER. I wake up every day with a headache like my head is in a vice and stomach cramps that rival the pain of the sinus infection I went in for in the first place. And yes, I eat yogurt and take extra probiotics. My heart beats like a horse's hooves on a racetrack and keeps me up far past any respectable time to go to sleep. I don't feel like myself at all, I'm telling you so you can run far away from this treacherous toxic substance."

"I was on Augmentin for 10 days, did not resolve the sinus problem. REFILL: Now I have been on Augmentin for 14 days, and it has helped SOME, but the infection is still on the left side, sinuses and tonsils. Also, at times I experience feelings of light-headedness, and I wonder if it is the medication or allergies. My blood pressure seems to be up and down since taking the Augmentin, and at times I have body aches and pains that make sleeping difficult. I have increased my fluid intake to offset the dryness, but I wish that the antibiotic would cure the sinus problem. I hope the doctor takes me off this and finds something that works."

"Monday morning, I went to my doctor, and she diagnosed me with sinusitis and prescribed me Augmentin. I took my first dose at around 11 a.m. Four hours later, I was feeling terribly nauseous with awful cramps. Though the medication had helped subside the pain in my head, there was a newfound pain in my stomach. I stopped taking the medication on Wednesday because the stomach pains were unbearable. In my experience, this medication helped get rid of my sinus infection, but now I am suffering through daily nausea and cramps, and I have been off the antibiotics for two days."

"Experienced severe insomnia 5 days into the treatment. When attempting to sleep, I would be jolted awake with a surge of adrenaline. Quit treatment 8 days in. People need to know that antibiotics kill good and bad bacteria and that gut and mood health are linked."

"Prescribed Augmentin for my sinusitis at a dose of 2x a day for 10 days. Strength is 875/125. I’m on day 5, and I still have severe sinus pain and lots of bloody mucus discharge. I had sinus polypectomy surgery 26 days ago and was cleared post-op at day 19. On day 21, I had a full-blown sinus infection that is also causing double vision. Augmentin is doing absolutely nothing, and I do not feel any better. Usually, there should be some relief or improvement by day 5. I do not have any stomach trouble with it, but I also make sure I’ve eaten a full meal before taking the meds, and I am taking probiotics 1X per day. The only side effect I’m having is I’m getting itchy hands and feet for about 2 hours after taking Augmentin. No rash, just itchiness."

"I have had episodes of acute sinusitis throughout many years, and whenever I take this, I feel better, yet somewhat worse when I stop it. It does do the job with little to no side effects for me personally."

"I will never take this drug again. I was prescribed a 10-day/twice-a-day dose for a sinus infection. I took one pill. Within 4 hours of taking the pill, I was experiencing fever-like chills, tingling, nerve pain in my feet, and restlessness. I had nightmares and a terrible night's sleep. The worst part is the headache I can't shake and the extreme fatigue. My head feels like it's in a vice. I've done nothing but sleep all day-only moving to take Advil, which barely touches the headache. I just assume suffer through the sinus infection rather than experience the past 24 hours on this drug."

"Having new medication anxiety, a sensitive stomach, acid reflux, and an irrational fear of diarrhea and vomiting made me terrified of taking this medication after reading a lot of these reviews. But! The key here is food. Avoid anything that upsets your guts. Eat something right before taking the pill and eat a probiotics yogurt 2-3 hours after taking the pill. This will help with an angry tummy and also help prevent yeast infections caused by antibiotics, ladies. Don’t skip a meal and snack on crackers or the likes throughout the day. This med is bad if it is in an empty stomach. Coming from someone who has taken a lower dose of amoxicillin only and gotten the runs every time, with sticking to a strict regimen of never letting the gut be empty and eating the yogurt 2 hours after taking the pill, I’ve had no side effects and started feeling better on the 2nd day. Goodbye bacterial sinusitis."

"DO NOT TAKE AUGMENTIN! I am healthy (run marathons - no pre-existing conditions) and never take meds. I was prescribed this for a headache (after a vehicle accident) and a little sinusitis at Onpoint. I was so sick, and after 5 days (my heart started hurting, lost all healthy bacteria (worst diarrhea and stripped stomach lining), had a fiery red rash after 10 days all over my body! It took 2 weeks for the rash to go away after I got off Augmentin. My body systems have never been the same!! Destroyed them. THIS IS TOXIC, tell your doctors too). If you MUST take an antibiotic, use something safer. Also, my husband (really healthy) didn't quite believe me. He was prescribed it, he was flat on his back/couch, vomiting and couldn't MOVE after 2 days! He stopped immediately."

"Took one dose of Augmentin 875 mg for a sinus infection. Stomach pain, nausea, sweats, insomnia, dizziness just from one dose. This was taken over 12 hours ago and still feeling bad. Will not take again. Contacted doctor for a new prescription."

"I started this medication 3 days ago. By the 2nd day, I had lots of diarrhea and gas. Still lingering, but has subsided a bit. And it is clearing up the sinus infection. Just make sure to have a toilet near you."

"Started on 100 mg of Augmentin for sinus infection. Cleared up sinuses well but had severe diarrhea. I wasn't concerned by this considering it's the common side effect, but I just took my last dose. Not four hours later, I threw up twice and had more bowel movements. This medication was not for me."

"Day 5, and my sinus congestion is as bad, if not worse. Had a fever on day 2, chronic headache despite drinking a gallon of water a day. Ruptured my eardrum day 2 blowing my nose after using the neti pot my doctor insisted I try (never again!). So now I’m not supposed to blow my nose. Every other antibiotic I’ve been on started clearing up my symptoms within 2 days. As a teacher, it’s next to impossible to be effective while sick like this. I have sinus and ear pain and tooth pain to contend with on top of lethargy and chronic headache. So for me, Augmentin has been ineffective. Never again."

"I was prescribed Augmentin 875 mg 2 times a day for 10 days. I took it for 5 days, and it seemed to be working to clear up the sinus infection, but I had to stop taking it because it gave me the worst yeast infection I have ever had in my life. I read someone else's comments about their tongue swelling and having ulcers on it, thus, it is oral thrush or a yeast infection on the tongue. I had to take 7 days of Diflucan and eat plain yogurt to get rid of it. And I had to stop taking the Augmentin. I tried to start back taking it in halves, but the yeast infection in my mouth came back. So I had to get more plain yogurt with probiotics to get rid of it. I cannot take this medicine."

"I have a severe sinus infection and have been taking Augmentin. I have been getting hip and back pains. My stomach feels tight and rotten. Constipation started right away. Started drinking beer to relieve my stomach, works so far, but yeah, this is potent stuff, and I am not recommending it - just saying what I have done. But, hey, my sinus problems are diminishing..."

"This drug was the worst. I'm still recovering. Started taking this on 12/28 for SI. I take daily probiotics and increased them since I expected some stomach upset. At first, not so bad but by Friday 12/30, the yeast infection from hell reared its ugly head. I had Diflucan on standby just in case and took it 12/31 and stopped Augmentin altogether. Nothing, and normally it's hours when I feel relief. I had to get Monistat 1 on New Year's to help fight it. Just got relief as of 1/4. Digestive still not normal. Never again. Unless my life depends on it."

"I was diagnosed 7 days ago with a sinus and ear infection. I had vertigo, terrible throat pain, exhausted. After about two days of Augmentin, the pain went away, and I started feeling better. I’m no longer dizzy, having throat and sinus pain or draining in my ear. However, I decided to stop 4 days short of my 10-day course because I’m having AWFUL side effects. Worst abdominal pain ever, constipation, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, back, hip, and leg pain. This doesn’t seem normal. Hoping my sinuses and ear are healed enough, or I’ll be back to the doctor for a different medication."

"Had sinusitis for 3 weeks and got Augmentin for medication. I'm on my 3rd day now and thinking of stopping, as it gave me a severe headache. Couldn't do any work, just laying on the bed battling with it. Augmentin is good for most people, but not for me, though."
