Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Switched to Uroxatral after being on Flomax for a couple months. While Flomax addressed Benign Prostate Hyperplasia issues very well, it had horrendous effect on my sexual function. Could no longer ejaculate at all, and could no longer reach orgasm. Within a few days of being on Uroxatral, those issues are gone and in some ways are better than before being on either medicine. Uroxatral is handling the BPH issues just fine."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Tried Flomax, but had retrograde climaxes, and also allergic reaction, my legs became very itchy, like poison ivy--Urologist switched me to Alfuzosin, worked perfect, no problem with erections, climaxes normal, urine flow, retention and frequency totally normal....But...after 6 months started getting increased heart rate at night. My resting pulse is usually a very good 55 to 60 (I exercise a lot) but I'd wake up it would be 85, one time I got up to urinate and it was 109, but back to 76 within minutes--Many other times after it races to 80 or so, back to normal within 5 minutes--So I did an experiment: I only took it every other evening at 6 PM instead of every evening--Sure enough, I only got the increased pulse rate the nights I took the drug, and didn't get any palpitations the nights I didn't take the drug--Will see the urologist next week"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I took Alfuzosan for about 3 weeks to pee faster. My heart rate soared from day 1. The Doctor was not overly concerned so I continued about 3 weeks until disaster hit. I developed afib and went into congestive heart failure. The prescribing doctor refuted my claim that Alfuzosan was responsible and actually told me I could take it again after I got out of the hospital. No way would I do that. I have permanent afib now and a member of the congestive heart failure club. Possibly screwed for life if they can't fix my afib."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Alfuzosin 4 months now. I had increasing difficulty peeing for several years, and it got to the point where I had a serious prostatitis, probably from lack of flow. After several months of antibiotics to clear the prostatitis I can pee about 70% better. I take the medicine at dinner time every day. I notice a very slight dizziness sometimes when getting up. I notice a very slight feeling of tiredness all the time. I can have orgasms just fine, no problem with erection either. No diminish in ejaculate I can detect. I feel I am at the point in life where I cannot pee without some kind of assistance, and this medicine seems to be a pretty good option. I will be continuing with it, probably for the long term."

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "It took a few days for me to feel any noticable difference. Once it worked its way into the system, it acted as described and provided relief with almost no side affects. The one thing I can not stress more is to make sure it is taken consistently (same time every day) for maximum effect and relief."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I took alfuzosin for 3 years. I still woke up 3 to 6 times each night to pee. During the day when I have the urge to pee, it was like an emergency to find a restroom. Even then, it was difficult to urinate and I had a very weak stream. I lost my ability to maintain an erection and had little urge for sex. My fatigue level was a real problem. Now that I stopped taking alfuzosin, I have much less fatigue and my erections are improving. I'm waking up less at night to pee, although I still have a weak stream and difficulty starting. Now looking into surgery for a proper solution. Alfuzosin caused me more grief than anything. Had I realized that taking alfuzosin was the cause of these difficulties, I wouldn't have continued taking it! The brochure didn't help"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "51 years old, I was on Rapaflo 8mg for about a year until insurance informed me they would not cover it anymore, and offered four generic alternatives. Researched all four, found Alfuzosin reviews least objectionable , so asked urologist for prescription. Daily 10mg dose works just as well on urinary symptoms, does not cause dry orgasm. Slight headache and tiredness first day, both gone now. No other side effects. Happy so far with this medicine."

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have only learned of this drug ONLY through reviews/forums. I have been prescribed Flomax for the past 5 years and would ONLY take them as needed. Very disappointed in the two urologists that I have had over the years as I have told each of my side effects making me not take Flomax. Meantime, I have somewhat successfully fought against severe urinary problems by taking a particular pure (no filler material) Saw Palmetto. Yet, I have been increasingly been needing to use Flomax. Flomax 0.4 mg is terrible for me since it stops my libido to absolute zero very quickly! Immediate ED ensues and once ended takes days to return to having sex with actual ejaculation. Manhood ends with Flomax! Enter Uroxatrol 10mg -whew! I now take this drug daily & does NOT affect my sex life. Period. Better yet, I pee like a 16 year old! Thankfully, I have no blood pressure or liver problems. I just had my physical and all of my blood data is perfect. I don’t notice any described symptoms at all."

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Uroxatral was about as effective for me as Flomax with fewer side effects. It makes me very tired, and lightheaded sometimes, but with non of the stuffiness that I had with Flomax which was a big plus. I'm not rating it higher because it didn't do much for my BPH pain although urinary flow was much improved. Herbal supplements of quercetin, and beta sitosteral still work the best for me."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "HI I I posted before my experience with Alfuzosin how I ended up having a catheter and bag my enlarged prostrate was making it so hard to pee Doctor proscribed Flomax It worked well for about 6 to 7 week up until that time I did notice a big difference in sexual arousal. It becoming harder to maintain an erection also I was starting to get severe pain in my penis, as I felt the need to pee but couldn't. I went to hospital and they inserted catheter and bag I had it on for 6 week but it was very uncomfortable. So went back to doctor who prescribed Alfuzosin after 3 day I was able to have catheter remove this drug worked wonder as regards to regular peeing with no pain even if I get up during the night - with Flomax I couldn't"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "For six years I took finasteride, which seemed to work fine at limiting the number of times I had to get up at night to urinate. After one year, it did make getting an erection impossible. I got a new doctor, who gave me alfuzosin and dutasteride. Again my night time urination decreased sharply. After one year, however, I found that I was getting up four times every night to urinate. I experimented with using just one of these two pills and decided that one alfuzosin per day did the trick. It does not enable me to get an erection, but at my age and in my situation this is of little importance to me."

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Uroxatral saved my bacon for years. Then generic came out and twice I tried to switch. All I got was same side effects, but no positive outcome. So switched back to brand name... but that has increased 300% in price since the generic came out. It's as if they know the generic is not as good and that they are the only game in town so they're up to $20/pill and no insurance will cover it even though generic simply doesn't work and the other two drugs have more serious side effects."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "My doctor switched me from Tamsulosin (Flomax) to Alfuzosin 10mg about 18 months ago. Immediately after starting to take it and for the first full year, it worked without side effects. Starting six months ago, I had small chest pains as well as a general weakness. About one month ago, I almost passed out when I suddenly had a rapid heart event that lasted 20 minutes. Since then, I felt like I haven't been getting oxygen properly, general weakness, and two more short racing heart events. I stopped using Alfuzosin two days ago, and already feel better. Never using it again."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "switched from generic Flomax to Alfuzosin for BPH after dizzy episodes on Flomax were severe enough that I would have to lie down. Alfuzosin works about as well on the BPH symptoms of urgency and frequency as Flomax did without the sudden dizzy episodes. However, while there are no sudden dizzy episodes with Alfuzosin, I am experiencing an all-the-time feeling of being tired and weak. I still can get through my workout, but the general overall fatigue is bothersome."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "My eye doctor ordered Alfuzosin out of concern for floppy iris syndrome associated with the Flomax I had been taking for years. That's ironic since I see the same caution for Alfuzosin. I took it in combination with 2.5 mg of Cialis as I was concerned the Alfuzosin wouldn't be as effective as the Flomax. I could tell an immediate improvement in both ability to urinate and sexual function. I had tried the daily Cialis before in combination with Flomax with little discernible benefit, but the combination with Afuzosin seems very effective. Sexual arousal and performance are greatly enhanced. My plan was to go back to Flomax following cataract surgery, but now I plan to stick with Alfuzosin and Cialis combination"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I love this. No retrograde ejaculation and my flow is much improved. I have to take it twice daily, though to get the desired results. No side effects noticed until I went on a weight loss regimen and my blood pressure dropped significantly, but once medications were reduced, the dizziness on standing up too quickly disappeared. Highly recommended!"

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have now used Uroxatral six months. At first, when taking Uroxatral, I would easily tire and experienced stomach pain much of the day. Now, it seems my body has adjusted to the medicine and I am not as likely to become tired. I still have stomach discomfort but not as severe. One thing I have noticed which concerns me is the fact the Uroxatral seems to wear off easily and the frequency to use the bathroom has not really disappeared. Overall, the drug seems to work well."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am a very active 65 yr. old man. I took Alfuzosin for one week. The Good: after 3 days I noticed a significant reduction in the number of trips to the bathroom. That was awesome. The other amazingly weird thing was....I generally felt like I was 25 years younger. The usual aches and stiffness that a man my age accepts were gone and my physical endurance was much better. The Bad: I did have minor headaches that would creep into my day from time to time and occasionally I felt tired. Also, my sex drive was diminished. The Worst: I tried to have sex and had a hard time maintaining an erection. My penis is now disfigured. I have peyronie's disease, no kidding."

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Started on Uroxatral as a replacement for generic Flomax. Pain while urinating, urgency and frequency of urination all increased, along with a lot of difficulty getting started and trying to keep going. On top of that, I experienced rather bad constipation, to boot. All of the above cleared up after going back to terazosin. "

My stream is stronger, still weak though, which has eliminated my bouts with prostititus. I have not had erection problems and feel my orgasms are much better and pronounced. Thumbs up!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was put on Tamsulsoin immediately after diagnosis for prostate cancer once I was Post radiotherapy in Dec 16. It worked very well. During radio therapy I was having increasing problems peeing and extreme pain. The oncology nurse changed me to Alfuzosin hcl. This had an almost immediate detrimental effect and after a week I stopped taking it and reverted to Tamsulosin. I saw an improvement within hours. That's my experience but we're all different. Good luck to anyone suffering."

Uroxatral (alfuzosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "It works well if you can stand the side effects; weakness in limbs, dry mouth/throat, constant sore throat that feels like strep and constant thirst. I had to quit and return to Flomax as it just makes me dizzy."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been taking alfuzosin and finesteride for about six months. Prior to this life was miserable - I could hardly pee, frequent urgency, getting up every hour at night, and carrying depends (just in case). Had to even sit in tub sometimes and run warm water on my parts to help me pee. Let's put it this way, I was ready for the operation to get relief. The doctor suggested these drugs as an alternative and nothing lost if they didn't work. There was even the possibility that could minimize amount of surgery needed. In the final analysis peeing is much more regular, much reduced urgency and only getting up a couple times per night. Sexual side affects are a concern. I have tried to use a generic form of Cialis but it is less effective."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I think if you have any concerns about your U.T. Function . Then see your doctor I can go with eze and without effort. I went from going every hour all day and night to going every 2-4 hours and sleeping through the night unless I drink a lot before bed. This medicine works very well but there are many more, don't be afraid to request something different."
