Eylea (aflibercept) for Diabetic Macular Edema "My primary doctor ignored all the warning signs I was having with my vision until it was almost too late! He never once in 4 years sent me to an opthomologist for testing. By the time he did, I was on the verge of losing my eye sight! I was to go immediately to a retina specialist or I would be “seeing-eye dog’” blind! After 2 years of monthly injections in both eyes for Diabetic Macular Edema, my retina specialist applied for Eylea! This finally had some positive affect on my vision and cured the right eye. After a total of over 4 years of injections, I still need Eylea injection in the left eye. All in all, finally getting Eylea saved my eye sight ( and having the right doctor) Getting my diabetes under control will also help. I’m anxious to SEE what the coming months reveals."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Edema Following Retinal Vein Occlusion "I've been receiving intravitreal injections of Eylea in my right eye since April 2022, after being diagnosed with branch retinal vein occlusion. The medication seems to work well for 8-10 weeks, with central visual acuity improvement mostly stable but often deteriorating over that time frame. Noticeable side effects include a small dark spot in my visual field immediately after the injection, and recently, a dull ache in my right eye."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I am 74 and developed wet macular degeneration in the left eye quickly but got to a retina specialist within a week. Vision had dropped from 20/25 with glasses to 20/160. After one injection with no side effects, vision had improved to 20/60 and blood had been reduced by 80% in four weeks. The injection is essentially painless but does feel like something in your eye for a day afterwards. The results are amazing"

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I was diagnosed with Macula Degeneration at the age of 48. One of the youngest my doctor has treated. To say that I was scared to death is putting it lightly. I, like most others saw the wavy lines. I had my first injection of Lucentis and eventually was able to go 2 years with no injections. We started again and the Doctor decided that it was no longer working. I switched to Eylea. My opinion is the Eyelea hurts more at injection. I have been told maybe because it is thicker than Lucentis? After many injections this year I am now having an injection every 10 weeks. Hopefully being able to go longer. My one problem with Eylea is a minute after my injections I get terrible head pain in the back, temple and around my ear. It’s like an ice cream brain freeze but much more intense!! It doesn’t last long but it’s so strange! Does anyone else have that issue? I am very thankful I this treatment has allowed me to live a normal life."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Edema "I've had 3 injections with Eylea and my eyesight has improved slightly. The injections are once per month. I was previously on Lucentis or something like that and it was keeping it level, not improving. My 4th will be in a few weeks. My doc is fantastic and I'm only out of pocket $25- after medicare rebate;."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Edema "Have swelling edema following cataract surgery which left with a grey cloud and heaps of black floaters in my vision .Tried acular eye drops for a month to help clear my vision unfortunately it didn't help so my doctor gave me eylea injection into my left eye and now I have a shimmer in my eye all the time since the needle a month ago .When it gets dark the shimmer turns into flickering sparkling lights and even with my eye closed I can still see then It's very stressful and hard to sleep. Any ideas how to fix this problem would be appreciated."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I have AMD in my left eye. I started the Eylea injections 2 years ago and it works great. My loss of vision in my left eye has been halted and improved. I have tests prior to injection so the doctor can look at possible bleeding. My eye is cleaned and numbed prior to injection. The injections are painless. Afterwards I feel pressure in the eye, but it leaves the following day. I progressed to injections every 12 weeks now. So great full for the medication and EXCELLENT care by my doctor and staff."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I was diagnosed with wet AMD in 2016 in my left eye and treatment began with Avastin, which was effective in 12-week injections but terribly painful. My doctor switched me to Eylea in 2018 and its use has stemmed the bleeds in both my eyes, sometimes for as long as 12 weeks but sometimes only 4 weeks. We monitor every 4 weeks. I have no side effects, other than an ache, fuzzy vision, and dryness in the treated eye for 24 hours. I am lucky that, so far, the bleeds are not in my central vision."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I already got my first 2 intravitreal injections of Eylea at my hospital in Kurashiki, Japan. I see improvement in my left eye AMD (my right eye is still fine). The improvement also has been demonstrated in my left eye OCT. The choroid layer has become flat. No side effects so far, so in general, I am very satisfied. Of course, I look forward to Eylea HD to reduce treatment frequency, and even more to eye drops that will replace the injections into the eye."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "Been getting Eyelea for 1 year every 4 weeks. The last injection took my vision away immediately. I saw sparking white dots and black dots. An opaque big spot blocked my central vision they said it would go away. It never did. That was my right eye. Now, one year later it’s the same. The flashing sparks of lights and zigzags are exhausting. Now I see in my left eye the damage from my right eye. Has anyone had this happen?"

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I am do to get my 3rd injection of Eylea. After waking up with awful distortion in my right eye. It had the dry macular for years. Saw my retina specialist right away. Got my first injection. I now have a large shaded area near the central vision. Not sure if it was there before the injections. I'm praying with future injections it will improve. I was able to read more lines on the chart after my second injection so I am thanking God for that."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I was diagnosed with AMD at an earlier than usual-age. I began with another medication and have now been receiving Eylea injections for several years. It is magic for me. Not only am I holding my aging vision steady... but with Eylea, I have actually seen improvement. I am hoping to be 71 in a few months and I am fully living my life without regard to my less-than-stellar eye health. My continued success is, no doubt, also due to my knowledgeable and caring Opthalogist and his dedicated support staff, and the absolutely amazing organization, Good Days. Thanks to all of you for making Eylea an accessible option for me! I am forever grateful!"

Eylea (aflibercept) for Diabetic Retinopathy "I have had a Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion for over 3 years now, starting early 2018. I started out with Avastin with so so results and silicon floaters in my eye that will not go away. By the end of 2018, I was switched to Eylea with much better results. Recently, my insurance has denied the use of Eylea and was forced back to Avastin for one injection while they get the insurance worked out. The Avastin started wearing off at about 3-1/2 weeks. My most recent injection was with Eylea and I was at 5 weeks and I have not noticed the degradation. I am happy with the Eylea, except for the cost. Now that my insurance won't cover it, the Eylea company is working with my Doctor to provide "free" medicine. However, that even comes at a cost as the Doctor now is forced to push more people to Eylea but he is not willing to do that unless absolutely necessary as the case for my eye."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Diabetic Macular Edema "I've been attending Eye Hospital for many years and recently received five Eylea injections spaced one month apart. This was to reduce swelling due to Diabetic Macular Edema. Initially there was little change which left me feeling somewhat despondent, however after the fourth injection the swelling started to reduce in size. The change is significant and with the optical distortions I experienced almost gone my general sight has improved beyond expectation. As a result I'm delighted that yesterday I received the first of three further injections this time spaced two months apart. I count myself very lucky that I have not experienced any side effects save slight discomfort the day after treatment. I would also like to thank the staff at the hospital for their skill and dedication which helps me to see and enjoy the world more clearly each day."

Eylea (aflibercept) "In February of 2023 I saw wavy lines on my tennis racquet; a few days later my left eye showed a large black circle when watching Tv with my right eye covered. I had to wait for 3 weeks to get appointment with a retina specialist. He gave an Eylea injection in my left eye after viewing the photos from OCT scan. Ten days later my left eye started seeing better every day without major side effects. I've had visits every 4 weeks with my retina doctor who said that there is improvement in my left eye. Then I got a 2nd Eylea injection 3 months later. I'm able to see clearly with my left and right eyes at the age of 72. Thanks to Eylea researchers who developed this medicine."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Edema "After 2 eye strokes my normal vision was fine but I had difficulty reading from my left eye. After one injection my eyesight though that eye improved and after the second it was probably about 60% as good as my right eye. Subsequently, my sight stabilized and I am now on an 8 week check to see if any deterioration has taken place. During normal sight I get a little sensitivity/light balance problems but can read and drive normally. I only use reading glasses. I am in the UK where this treatment is covered by the NHS."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "My 93-year-old mom has wet macular degeneration and she's had 2 shots so far. The doctor numbs the eye up well so she says she feels nothing when given the shot. Her eye was very bloodshot the first time, the second wasn't as bad. She has had no problems so far and hopes it continues."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Edema "The results after the first injection were spectacular. Cloudiness cleared up and was able to read the last line of the eye chart clearly. However, after the second shot the vision in the treated eye regressed substantially. I went back to the retina specialist four days after the second shot to voice my concerns. He showed me side-by-side images showing a substantial reduction of inflammation but didn’t answer the question of why my vision regressed after the second shot. I expected the second shot to continue the spectacular improvement of the first but regressed and no satisfying explanation from my doctor other than to say “ look at the images”. The images did show improvement but not with the vision which is the point."

Eylea (aflibercept) "IM ONLY 34! I have Coloboma of the optic nerve in both eyes! I’ve been taking Eylea now for over six years, and unfortunately the drug companies have my name for the rest of my life. It worked for me and continues to work. This last time it was noted that my eye pressure is increasing and I need medication to lower pressures to lengthen my vision throughout life. I’m not sure if this was a side effect of the drug or of the news but as soon as I was given Eylea, I began to sweat and my heart beat faster and I started to get dizzy for about 60 seconds feeling nauseous. Luckily I came out of it in 60 seconds but very very scary. Also having a shot in the eye brings a little discomfort but it’s over in five seconds"

Eylea (aflibercept) for Diabetic Retinopathy "I was giving two injections of Avastin in my left eye with some improvement. My doctor decided to try Eylea. After my first injection 6 days ago, I still have mild pain, blood in the white where injected, blurred vision. The first 24 hours my eye was quite painful and tearing like crazy and very sensitive to light. I am not sure I will take it again, especially if the blurry vision does not improve. My vision prior to injection was that I had black lines/floaters that would move through my vision but it was not blurry. This is very concerning. Just FYI that none of my injections hurt until the numbing agent wore off."

For Macular Degeneration "Got my first injection 8 weeks ago. Felt burning sensation in my eyes after injection in both. Eye drops alleviated that sensation. Have had days that my eyesight is blurry and find that the sun and some lighting is bothersome. Will get my next injection this Friday. Was not told what I was being injected with or any possible side effects. Am willing to try it for awhile, but hope that I get over the blurring and floater part."

Eylea (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I started with Avastin and after a few years my doctor switched me to Eylea. I started with the injections 9 years ago. I was diagnosed early. The injections plus AreDS2 have stopped the disease from progressing and my eye is not currently bleeding. I take 2 Tylenol just before the injection. While the eye is numbed, it doesn't really take the pain away caused by the eyewash that is used after the injection. I find asking for the technician to wash my eye out more than once really helps. Most times I have a large black circle that appears, but it goes away within 24 to 48 hours. I currently have injections every 7 weeks. I find Eylea more painful than Avastin, but with Avastin, I got a large number of floaters. They both reduced the liquid behind my retina. The vision in my affected eye is 20/25 and had gone down to 20/40, so the treatment works for me. I would prefer a cure to be found or at least something with far fewer injections."

Eylea HD (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "I was diagnosed with wet AMD OD & dry AMD in OS at the end of 2023. Since then, I have received injections about every 4 weeks. My most recent injection was 4/17/24. My doctor is very pleased with the effects of these injections and I am now using Eylea HD. Having had every major commonly known eye condition beginning in 1964 with an infected corneal ulcer from ill-fitting hard CLs and including glaucoma in my 20s, cataracts in my 30s followed by detached retinas, Fuchs Dystrophy requiring two cornea transplants, pints (?) of eye drops, and 7+ eye surgeries that my 73 y.o. memory can recall, not including small procedures. The only consistent side effect from these injections has been the familiar 'brow ache' that plagued me with my bouts of glaucoma (open-angle variety), as well as Charles Bonnet. I have technically been free of glaucoma in both eyes since having a trabeculotomy (circa 1978), probably in OS. My cornea specialist pronounced me 'cured,' which came as a surprise."

Eylea HD (aflibercept) for Macular Degeneration "Not sure if it is from Eylea HD or COVID that I had 3 months ago. But I just started with Eylea HD after 6 months with regular Eylea, and I have had SEVERE fatigue and joint pain to the point where I cannot do anything for very long. I used to walk miles with 3 dogs, and I can now barely get around two blocks. I cannot houseclean, and I have a horrible hoarseness to my voice, which affects my teaching. HELP!"
