"I have been diagnosed with SVT for a while now. Last year (May 2023), I had an episode of SVT that lasted around 10 minutes with 250 bpm max. During the episode, I recorded the basic ECG through Apple Watch. After it returned to normal, I went to my cardiologist just to see if anything needs to be done as damage control or prevention. While he was attending to me, the SVT started again. He rushed me to ICU, took ECG, given Valsava, but nothing prevailed. Then they decided to give Adenosine 6mg bolus. This didn't work. They then repeated with 12mg bolus, and it reset the rhythm to 95 bpm thankfully. Initial feeling of Adenosine shot resembles administration of IV Dye that doctors use for kidney imaging. A cold sensation traveling in the arteries. Then suddenly a feeling of everything coming to a stop. The exact feeling when you fall off from a height before you hit the pool water underneath. Very yucky feeling! I hate that sensation. Adenosine has happened twice with me ever since."

"I guess I'm an outlier, as adenosine (injected) worked immediately on me with no weird side effects. I had a feeling of warmth and then my heartbeat dropped like a stone as I watched the monitor from 173 to 80, and then eventually back to normal in the 60s. I'm 65, so 173 BPM for a few hours with concurrent very low BP was not a pleasant experience. I thought I was a goner for sure."

"I went into the ER with serotonin syndrome. Sweating, racing pulse, delirious. They rushed me through and got a cardiac doc in, and did full blood work, saline drip, ECG. Then they used adenosine... said I'd feel weird. First time didn't work, it hurt so much. Second time was soooooo much worse. I blacked out, couldn't breathe, and it felt like my entire body was turning into cement. You can literally feel your blood stop moving. It was traumatizing. Worst experience of my life."

"Had IV adenosine for SVT unresponsive to usual self-care: cold water/valsalva. 3-4 second sensation as if winded. SVT normalized. Minor irritant for successful therapy."

"I’ve had adenosine twice to treat acute SVT, and it’s fine. You feel weird for a few seconds, but a million times better after when your heart is back to normal speed."

"Felt like it also reset my breathing. About 10 seconds of difficulty breathing, followed by an intense warming from heart through carotids to head. Then it was over. It worked!"

"Often had on-off bouts of SVT, which I was always able to control, usually with breathing techniques or vagal massage as next steps, and it always jumped back. This one morning, it started on the dog walk through to getting the train to work, head in lap for the duration. Still buzzing and feeling faint. Arrived and crossed the road to the A&E. Seen immediately and taken through. Heart racing at approx 220 bpm. Usual techniques tried, no joy. Given adenosine. The doctor said, 'you tell us what it's like.' It felt like an icy wave moving from my neck to my toes, and my heart reset and beat like normal. The doctor was half-disappointed as he said it's supposed to 'feel like impending doom.' Nah, just very odd and cold. But it worked. Down to 120, but normal enough with all the adrenaline going through me..."
