Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "I have had horrible headaches every day for the past 18 years. When I was young, my mother would take me to the ER for them, but seeing as how I didn't have nausea or anything besides intense head pain, they ruled out migraines and would just send me home hurting. I saw my first neurologist 17 years ago, and he put me on Midrin. It is the only thing that ever worked for me. I moved quite a bit when I was younger, so I never really had the chance to see another neurologist until about 10 years ago, and they wanted to try everything else first. I had an Arnold-Chiari malformation, so they blamed it and did surgery. After that, they said I had pseudotumor and did regular LPs. I finally got tired of it and stopped seeing neuro 3 years ago. Need Midrin back!"

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "Midrin was the best migraine medication! As far as I know, I cannot get it anywhere in the area that I live locally in Lake City, Florida. I was reading this post to see if anyone had any ideas. I guess I will check on having it compounded at a pharmacy. I have tried Fioricet and Fiorinal, and they work, but my doctor does not like to prescribe them because they have the potential for dependency. She has prescribed for me Amerge, it is a triptan, and it works, but my insurance does not want to pay for it. I do have high blood pressure, and sometimes it affects that. Sometimes I use Toradol, and that works, but it cannot be used regularly."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "I have been taking Midrin for a week for chronic headaches. It does help enough to let me rest. The relief is somewhat short in duration, but it is better than anything else I have taken. Considering I have had chronic headaches for almost 6 weeks - this is progress."

"I've suffered from devastating episodes of migraine and tension headaches for over 30 years. In the early '90s, a neurologist at Duke started me on Fioricet, which was a great step in the right direction until years later I discovered Midrin — which was like a miracle drug that finally, and for more than a decade, gave me back a normal life. It was inexcusable for the FDA to remove it from the market for non-safety reasons without specifically identifying a superior alternative with the same mechanism of action. Since then, you name it, and I've tried it... Imitrex, Rizatriptan, Fioricet again, Percocet, Valium, and others. Nothing has ever been as clinically effective."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "I've suffered from headaches since elementary school. Somewhat pinpointed it to sinus/allergies about 15 years ago since a combination of Sudafed and ibuprofen was pretty effective. Take allergy shots, Allegra, Nasonex, and still get the headaches unless Sudafed and ibuprofen are taken. My allergist sent me to a neurologist and prescribed Midrin. So far, I like it. Took 2 at the onset of a headache as prescribed, and it worked within 45 minutes. Felt a little weird from it. So now I just take one, and it works really well all day, if not longer. It actually seems to help my eyesight a little and my focus. I was also prescribed a sleep aid, but haven't taken any since I really don't have trouble sleeping."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "I've had a really great experience with Midrin. I spoke with my neurologist, and she suggested a compounding pharmacy. I now pick up the generic Midrin from the compounding pharmacy and have been since 2017. Check to see if you can do this!"

"I had my pharmacy order this for me because it recently came back on the market, and I have tried many preventatives and lots of things to stop a migraine. The only thing that worked was a shot of morphine at the hospital. I was on day 2 of a migraine when my medicines came in. I took 2 pills, and in 30 minutes, I looked around and noticed almost all of my pain was gone, shortly after, all pain was gone. I take care of my child every day, and I was able to function well with a little cotton mouth and a feeling of taking a narcotic, but it wasn't as bad as a shot of morphine."

"Midrin is far superior for relieving my migraine headaches than any other medication I have tried. Very disappointed it is not currently on the market. I currently take Maxalt, but it is only mildly effective, and my migraines tend to rebound much more with an increased duration. Please bring back Midrin!"

"I was bedridden for 2 years for my debilitating migraine. I was prescribed Dilaudid by my neurologist. He had no idea how addictive the drug was, and when he found out, I was sent to rehab to get off of it. The hospital prescribed me the generic for Midrin. It gave me my life back. I'm devastated because this drug is no longer available. I experienced my first pain level of 10 and was confined to bed. Being bedridden due to my migraine is not an option. Please put it back on the market."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "This was the first medication I received for my migraines, and it worked for 90% of my migraines. However, the side effects left me dizzy, disoriented, drowsy, and just generally intoxicated and unable to perform normal work. I switched to Fioricet, and it's been a much better experience since."

"This medication changed my life for the good. I have taken it as needed for over 25 years without any side effects. Knowing this medication is no longer available has adversely impacted the quality of my thought life. This medication worked every time. No more costly pain-filled trips to the ER. No more missed work. Now, my life will never be the same. I am not alone, as this medication has been a miracle to others as well. Now my medical bills and lost wages will skyrocket. These other medications are not safe, and I won't take them. I just hope that somehow this medication can soon be available again. My life is not the same without it."

"Loved, loved, loved this medication. It knocked my headaches out in 10 minutes, and it also reduced the amount of times I got them. I was so sad when my doctor stopped prescribing them to me due to my insurance."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "Midrin is the only medication that I have had success with to combat a migraine. I could take it at the onset of a migraine to stop the pain dead in its tracks. I'm currently taking Sumatriptan (generic Imitrex), which makes me sleepy enough to sleep through the pain but doesn't always elevate the pain. I've been researching Midrin today to learn whether or not it will ever be available again for migraines, but I'm not having much luck. Posting here to see if anyone knows the status and to ask others what meds they used if Imitrex didn't work for them."

"I am so glad that they brought back Midrin, it always worked well for me. My neurologist prescribed me another medication to take its place that contained a barbiturate, so rather than take that, I suffered through work because it left me with a foggy feeling. With Midrin, I can function with a clear mind and is quicker-acting than the medication regime than the Toradol/Zofran combination that my PCP prescribed. I don't notice any side effects with my preventatives either, as I did with the other."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "I take this for migraines. It is amazing, it usually stops my migraine within a half hour. I usually take 3 Midrin, Excedrin Migraine, and 2 aspirin. I take it during aura, usually, I have visual disturbances and numbness that travels around my body (along with some other weird, crazy stuff). I've also tried Propranolol as a preventative, but it causes chest pain and a very slow heart rate, so I'm trying Topamax. I still get 3-5 migraines a month, hormone-related. I have the Mirena IUD, I would get the Paragard, which has no hormones, but I'm allergic to metal, go figure!"

"Midrin is the only medication I have ever found that works for my migraines. Prior to having it prescribed, I tried nine more modern migraine medications that all failed. I would get migraines that lasted two to three days, and I would be bedridden and throwing up the entire time. It used to be covered by my insurance with a $20 co-pay for 30 pills; but then it was taken off the market, so I had to move to having it formulated. Formulation cost $75 for 30 pills, which is pretty darn expensive, but worth it to be able to function normally. But now, I can't believe that I can't even have it formulated anymore. I'm down to six pills, and I'm quite worried about what I'm going to do in the future."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "While I prefer Migraten (which has caffeine instead of the sedative in Midrin), I LOVE these medicines for headaches. They truly help my painful symptoms. I don't feel 'high' or groggy at all, like with narcotics. If you suffer from migraines or tension headaches, try these for sure! (Plus, this was the only relief I got for headaches during pregnancy)."

"Midrin, Epidrin, isometheptene-dichloralphenazone-acetaminophen, Isometh/Dich/Apap 65-100-325, whatever variation of name it is dispensed as, it is the best migraine treatment for me. It must be administered early into the headache, or it is much less effective. That's the only downside, and one I've managed to deal with successfully over many years now. I take 2 capsules at onset and one more tablet each hour after as needed (usually a total of three capsules is enough!). The only side effect is it makes me sleepy. I went through two years trying out various Rx's, shots, treatments with my doctor, but once we tried Midrin, I got my life back. The difficulty getting it lately has me jumping through hoops, and the price skyrocketed, but it's worth it."

"Midrin is the absolute best migraine medicine on the market. I have suffered from moderate migraines for years, and this is the only medication that I have found to provide fast results. If I take the medicine as I'm supposed to, it will relieve my migraine in about 15 minutes. I would be lost without it."

"I have a history of migraines with aura (my mom has them too), and a few years ago my doctor prescribed me generic Midrin when I was having some of the most excruciating migraines of my life because of hormone fluctuations. I was very skeptical that it would do anything more than ibuprofen or Excedrin ever had, but was blown away that it actually reduced 95% of my symptoms when they struck! I didn't think anything could actually cover up the pain and nausea and sensitivity. I now keep a bottle of Midrin handy in my medicine cabinet for when I get those debilitating migraines that nothing else will touch. Thankfully I don't get them too often since Medicaid won't cover it and the cost is $180... :("

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "I’ve taken one pill a day, and it stopped headache in about an hour, but headache didn’t return for 24 hours. I was afraid to take Migrex because the company didn’t require a prescription. I think it has different ingredients depending on the country it is from. Also, it contains Tylenol (under the chemical name acetaminophen). I took the drug because I have severe pain almost three-fourths of the month, and I had such a horrid headache I wouldn’t have cared if Migrex killed me. What a surprise! I have Imitrex and am supposed to use sumatriptan stat and Migrex long-term. Odd the company didn’t require a prescription??? That makes me nervous."

Acetaminophen / dichloralphenazone / isometheptene mucate "Coping with photophobia and migraine with aura for over 20 years has been a disabling part of my life. I have been getting 40 injections every 10 weeks, and this medication is the ONLY breakthrough medication that allows me to resume any daily activities during a migraine until my next course of treatment. Other medications have exacerbated my symptoms or added new side effects that make it intolerable. This has allowed me to live as normal a life as I can."

Although the results were not immediate, my son did experience much relief with this drug combination. Our regular doctor had never heard of this type of medication or ever dealt with migraines in children."
