I just wanted some advice guys. I suffer from Ocd anxiety and depression. I've had relapses this year centring around paranoid obsessional thought and worries. I have been put onto sertraline 50mg and have been on it for 2 weeks after trying clomipramine but suffered bad physical side effects. I am struggling with the side effects mostly anxiety it's so bad I can hardly sit still and obsessing and worrying, fatigue and low mood also. Will I see any benefit in the next week I really don't know what to do, the home treatment team I'm under just say persevere and just see my behaviour as part of the ocd but I am really struggling and don't know wether to stop taking it now. Thanks your opinions would be helpful.

I have been on Zoloft for 10 weeks. This drug saved my life. My anxiety was so bad that I couldn't leave my house.
I had bad side effects about 3 weeks. Trembling, anxiety, stomach pain and nausea. Once this went away I started like my old self. I take 50mg per day. I was also on Xanax 2.5 mg which took the edge off. I'm down to taking a Xanax maybe every few days.
Please stick it out on the drug. I was on Prozac an Lexapro before this.
I take Clomipramine and the side effects that sent me crazy when I started was this horrible feeling that there was something stuck to the back of my throat (for about 4 weeks) and caused weird wakefulness and sleepiness (I have to make a decision to go to bed but I have 30 minutes from the last dose to be asleep or it can be a problem and I still sleep forever). I take that coupled with Chlorpromazine (a general 'typical' anti-psychotic).
I would not directly contradict a psychiatrist, they can get stubborn.
I suffer from the some of the same issues. Anxiety, ADHD, and Periods of depression. IN MY OPINION. I seem to function properly an very much more effective on a daily basis for the past 10 + years with what started with anxiety medication such as Celexa, and trials many others. Im a 32 year old man and only recently in the past 3 years have found out im also Diagnosed with ADHD. Something I should have been treated for with Ritalin as a child but never was.
Now as an adult I am be being treated with a medium dose of Adderall. Which has helped me multi tasking, focusing and has helped my dose of 3-4 mgs of clonazepam a day work even better along with each other .
I know it sounds like a speed ball type of mixture. I am surprised my PCP, who is very careful about prescriptions and the long term effects they may or my not cause would prescribe both.
Trust me I wish I never would have needed to be on any medication whatsoever. I own two business I have a family and I have been much more effective in the roles I play in everyones lives with the right medications.
The reason Im saying this is because It sounds to me (besides OCD)which is from what I hear somewhat similar to ADHD. Your condition sounds alot like mines. Maybe, on your next appointment, if these medications your on now do not help. You might want to revisit your options with you PCP about at least a lower dose or milder for the medications or something similar to what I have mentioned to start off. They might literally save your life.
No one wants to turn to medication every morning to function. I m at the top of that list but if the pros out weight the cons and they work for you. God bless. I hope this helps you. All The best, Sincerely, Tim
