I am 59n and have a hard time staying a sleep have been on Lorazapram for 10 years would just like to take 2 and sleep but oh my I may become dependent on it, what is the difference
Lorazepram is what is called a benzodiazapene which are addictive meaning you can't just stop taking them but must taper off them slowly. The benzodiazapenes are used to treat anxiety and seizure disorders. The Zoloft and the Remeron are antidepressants which act on the brain chemicals norepinephrine and serotonin. Antidepressants are not considered addictive though you may have to taper off when stopping these meds to prevent withdrawl symptoms.
Only your doctor can really say what combination of meds would be best for you and your situation. Based on my experience and I am not a doctor, the lorazepam with the remeron would be better for helping you sleep at night.
Hope this helps,
