I am 4 months postpartum with my son. My anxiety has been out of control lately. It’s mainly my social anxiety. I love who I am 75% of the time. It’s just when we go to see people or do things, I am a mess. It’s making me a recluse and that’s really unlike me. I don’t want it to change who I am 75% of the time as I have read, it can make you “stagnant” not really down and low & not super happy anymore (which is what I don’t want)
It varies from person to person on how they respond to it. The way SSRIs work, they don’t flatten people. I firmly believe believe the people who feel flat on an SSRI are actually having breakthrough symptoms like anhedonia. It’s like they’ve moved from severely depressed to mildly depressed. It’s normal to have fears when you’ve never been on these meds. For me, I notice subtle improvements in my quality of life as the med starts to kick in. You will side effects, most of them will go away, so keep coming back, ask questions, read other people’s questions, and have some faith.
