My son is 7 and just diagnosed with seperation anxiety. The doc is perscribing Zoloft. Not sure I want to put my child on medication. Would prefer to do therapy (CBT) first. I feel the dr is really pushing it as an easy fix. Please tell me your experience with your children.
That sounds kinda scary to me as well. Children on Zoloft can become susceptible to having suicidal thoughts. I'm not a doctor, but I do work at a psych facility and at a residential treatment facility for teens. I would suggest asking his prescriber if he/she would consider trying some other medication. Hope this helps.
