I have been mildly depressed after my daughter was born and didnt seek help until 6 months after. I was prescribed Zoloft. I'm not sure if I want to take it because of what it may do to my personality and the affect it may have on my brain.
It won't change your basic personality. If you are doing things like snapping because you're depressed it will stop that. Many many people take zoloft and drugs like it, and our brains are just fine. Don't be afraid to help yourself because of things you hear and read. Post partum depression can spiral out of control and you should help yourself.
Hi, ace! What the medication does is help you to return to YOUR personality. It doesn't change your brain, it corrects the imbalance of signals and receptors in your brain so you can get back to your old self.
You owe it to yourself and your little girl to do whatever you can to get healthy again ~ this should be one of the happiest times of your life.
Best wishes, WCV
I have been depressed my whole life, I have taken every antidepressant out there, its different for each person but for me Zoloft was bad, I saw things, put it this way, we have chickens but yet I saw my son chasing a white chicken lol.I was also zompied out. just have family and friends watch your personality for you because sometimes you want realize that you have changed. Pristiq has really helped me. stay strong.
