I am 19 years old. When I was about 16 I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery. The surgeon then told my mother that my appendix was absolutely fine, that I had 3 large cysts on my right ovary. The CAT scan showed inflammation but because my appendix was in front of the ovary they assumed it was the appendix. Since then I have been to doctors and hospitals many times for the same problem. Ovarian cysts. Every time they tell me something different. Birth control isn't my solution because I want to have another baby. I believe that birth control was what started my cysts to begin with, I was 16 when I had the mirena put in. At 17 I had it removed and was then told that cysts are a side effect of the mirena. Since then I have had these cysts and it seems like every period they hurt worse. It has gotten to the point where I can't walk I can't function while I am on my monthly. It hurts so bad I have to lie in bed all day with a heating pad which does NOT help at all. Just makes them worse. This last time I went to the emergency room and they gave me tramadol pill and shot, which dulled the pain but I could still feel the bubbling stabbing feeling of the cysts but it wasnt nearly as bad as it was. Gave me a prescription for it and sent me home. I am currently waiting on an appt with an OBGYN (which I have been to once before and the doctors solution was birth control pills, pretty much said there was nothing he could do because they had already ruptured) I am hoping they will see the cysts this time around but even if they do, I'm afraid they won't do anything. If I have my right ovary removed, it will make it 10 times harder to get pregnant which I am already having problems with. (I'm afriad these cysts have made me infertile) and I'm also afraid that the cysts will just move to my left ovary. I am too young to have a complete historectomy because of health risks. This is the first time I have been prescribed anything for the pain. I am hoping that I can convince this doctor to prescribe it again if there is nothing else they can do maybe they can just give me something for the pain. It is absolutely unbearable. I cant get up to tend to my own child I am hurting so bad. Just want to know if there is anyone else who has this same problem and what you have done to solve it. Thanks in advance.
Almost the same thing. We thought I had appendicitis but my ovaries are lower set so we figured out it wasn't that. Complex recurring ovarian cysts was the answer but I'm not making any more progress than you. I'm hoping birth control pills will help manage it but I have to be careful on estrogen intake due to a family history of estrogen based cancer. You're not alone
