the intorcourse was yesterday november 18 night . we did not get the pill tht night. today is november 19 will it still be effective when taking it . can there be other emergency contraception that you can get from a drug store without doctor writing
Plan B is most effective the sooner you take it. Taken within 12 hours of unprotected sex it is said by the manufacturer, to be around 95% effective. It gradually becomes slightly less effective, until at the very limit (72 hours) it is around 75% effective. After 72 hours it is said to be ineffective.
The same sort of stats apply to the other emergency contraceptive pill EllaOne. However, that pill can be used up to 120 hours after the unprotected sex, & is suitable for women who have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of over 26, which is the upper limit for Plan B.
Your other option is to have an IUD/Coil fitted. That acts as emergency contraception if fitted up to 120 hours after the unprotected sex, but can also be left in place for longer term contraceptive protection.
As for cost, I don't know what Country you are in, so can't comment. I'm in the UK, & so am lucky not to have to pay.
