I have had insomniafor years and years, and have tried numerous medications. I currently take ambien,seroquel,alprazolam,prozac,topamax,lithium,and imitrex. Sometimes I will go days with no sleep! I have taken elavil for depression, not for insomnia. Ambien helps with insomnia,but sometimes I will only sleep for a couple hours before waking up.I stopped all caffeine intake during the day. I dont know what else to do! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
If I took all that, I'd never open my eyes, lolol. Do you avoid tv and the computer for at least 2 hrs before bed? Keep your room totally dark? Have you tried a glass of milk before bed? It doesn't have to be warm. Do you go to bed at the same time every night? I was a terrible insomniac for years until I discovered my sleep habits were terrible. Have you tried the relaxing sounds, like the ocean and rain? The final thing for me was learning to shut the worries in a box in my mind and only think of nice things when I went to bed.

Is Elavil good for mild anxiety and insomnia? I have never taken anything for either of these issues
