So i put the nuva ring in like my doctor said toand i had it in for 3 weeks and took it out on sunday when the 3 weeks ended for the one week that wasnt supposed to be in for. Then;exactly one week i put it back in on the following sunday like you are supposed to. But my period wasnt over yet untill Monday. It never fell out ot anything and then i had unprotected sex for the first time saturday night 6 days after i put it back in.. are you supposed to wait 7 days after you put a new one in everytime to have unprotected sex?
No, the seven day wait is only for the very first time or if you would happen to have the ring out for more than 3 hours during the 3 weeks it is supposed to be in or if you would forget to replace it on the day it is supposed to be started again. In those events, the contraception could be compromised so to prevent a possible pregnancy, you use back up protection for seven days again. The ring can be left out for UNDER three hours without contraceptive loss-some women prefer to take it out for sex but one has to be careful to replace it again within 3 hours time. Also when you wear it for three weeks, you are still protected from pregnancy during that 4th week when the Ring is out. As long as you are using it properly, as you have been, you do not have to use back up protection or wait seven days again.
