... and another CT,lets say for a period of a week, please tell me what nutrition would have? My father is in this situation now and I m thinking of giving him only proteins(such as chicken breast) for these days
I don't understand why he had to stop the glucophage for a ct scan. Has the dr who manages his diabetes ok'd this? You'd pretty much have to stick to protein and things without calories like carrots. He will need a small amt of carbs a day just for his body to run, but not much.
His Dr who is performing the scan will tell you if you call and ask. It depends on what they are scanning. Many scans can be done with no change in meds or diet but some need to be done in a "fasting" state and they should tell you not to eat or drink after a certain time before the test if this is so. They will also tell you if his diabetes medications should be given or held. You just need to call the office of the physician who is performing the test and ask if there are any diet restrictions prior to the scan and for how long and if and when he should take his medications prior to the scan or the day of the scan. Hope all turns out well for him.
