i have been taking norco for a back injury for about 2 years. I had surgery in September of last year and my Dr. kept me on the medication. I am now up to 10 10-325/day. I am going through medical detox now and am wondering, do I really need rehab? i took the pills for medical reasons and am getting off them for the same... Would love to hear your thoughts...
You can do a taper off of Norco at home, if you wish, or have you stopped cold turkey already? The wording of your question is a bit confusing, when you say you are going through medical detox, what do you mean? Is your doctor tapering you off of them or is your doctor just overseeing how you are doing while taking no Norco? Were you prescribed 10 Norco daily? Or have you been taking a bit more than prescribed?
Answering this will help others to answer your question, please add more information, if you don't mind?
It would be a good idea to go to rehab. Just because you are taking the pills for medical reasons does not mean that you are not physically addicted to them and if you really want to go off of them and stay off of them you will need ways to cope with pain without having to take the medication and this takes more than just going off of the drug! Believe me, I know! I didn't listen to my doctor when he weaned me off of Oxycontin years ago and I ended up a heroin addict! I'm not saying that this will happen to you, but believe me, I know too many people who have ended up either back on the pills or on something worse because they didn't go to rehab and because they thought that because they only took the pills for "medical" reasons that they weren't addicts! You are an addict weather you want to believe that or not and you shoud go to rehab if your doctor recommends it!
Good luck to you!!
