I don't know if anyone can answer this, but is there a drug that is not a newer drug (meaning, not costly-even with insurance) that helps with pmdd? I take Klonopin and Wellbutrin and my doctor added Fetzima, but it's very expensive for me. Even if I change meds altogether, what are your recommendations? I also have depression and anxiety in general. I have tried Lexapro and it made me feel like a zombie. I took Effexor XR for three to four years and it seemed to work but my former doctor wanted to switch because of the risk of increased blood pressure. It seemed to work for me, though. (I was not taking klonopin along with it.) I will probably make another dr. appt., but wanted another opinion/opinions. So I need something for anxiety as well as the depression and PMDD. I feel very out of control when I am pms-ing and very, very moody and angry. Is there any hope!!! ( I am taking the highest dosage that is safe for the Klonopin and Wellbutrin SR.)
Fetzima is very new. There are lots of antidepressants that now have generics that are much less expensive such as Zoloft (sertraline) or Cymbalta (duloxetine). Don't despair, just explain to the doctor that you can't afford the Fetzima and you would like to try an antidepressant that has a generic.
