And if so what has replaced it I take them for migraines
We haven't done anything to any
Meds. We are a support group and drugs.com is an info site only. It is on the market tho, brand name fioricet.
I have trouble understanding your question. The Butalbital, acetaminophen, and caffeine, also known as Fioricet is by prescription only. So you should get a prescription for it and pick it up at a pharmacy. So why do you ask about this medication being discontinued? If you have been taking it illegally, you are taking a big risk. Also if you take it more than 2 days a week, you most likely will get severe rebound migraines. Please advise as to the reason for your question.
I think what he means to say is *Does anyone of us here have stopped using Fioricet and if we did what replaced it for migraine relief.*
I too am unable to get Butabutal for migraines any longer. Per the pharmacy they no longer make it...
Anybody know a good replacement suggestion? Cant to Imatrix it gave me seizure.
No, this medication has NOT been discontinued, I take it regularly..
Nothing has replaced it. You need to find a new pharmacy or tell your existing pharmacy to get a new supplier. The amount of acetaminophen in Fiorcet is FDA's favorite amount of 325mg so there is no modification necessary by the manufacturer and no reason for them to stop production.
I wasn’t able to read all responses. So I may be repeating someone else. Apologies in advance.
Here’s what I know. Manufacture of Butalbital for use ALONE, has been discontinued. However, they are still allowed to manufacture butalbital for use in the combination drug FIORICET.
butalbital, acetaminophen, & caffeine. (Sometimes codeine also).
BUTALBITAL is still manufactured for use in the combination drug FIORICET.
