Hi, hef! Buspirone is commonly prescribed with an antidepressant to control anxiety symptoms... especially when initially starting the antidepressant until it takes effect. Lexapro (escitalopram) is one of the top three antidepressants most commonly prescribed for depression with anxiety.
There is a small chance of a very rare, but serious, condition called serotonin syndrome which your doctor should be aware of. Although the combination should be avoided if possible, it's a benefit ~vs~ risk judgement call.
Just for the record I've taken buspirone along with several different antidepressant/anxiolytics for about five years now.
Best regards, Wildcat
