I took Paxil for probably 15 years and it worked perfect for me at a very low dose... 2.5 mg. I was taking it for anxiety/panic disorder. When I heard the reports about it being linked to dementia I switched to Lexapro. I have been on it for 2 months and have been anxious the whole time and have started to have panic attacks again.
I am currently on six different medications for severe panic disorder. Every time I am put on a new or increased dosage of a med I read everything I can get my hands on about it. I have seen some genuinely scary side effects. My father was in pharmaceuticals his entire working life and when I really flipped out once about a potential side effect, he informed me that if even ONE person has a particular side effect, it has to be listed on the information/warning documentation. I worry a lot less now knowing that the more bizarre or less desirable side effects are likely low percentage wise.
