I am wanting to avoid sensitivity but not sure how I use Orajel beforehand as I don't have a tray.
Orajel is a topical gel that numbs the gums. It's similar to the gel they apply to your gums before giving you an injection to freeze your teeth. I'm not sure it will help with tooth sensitivity from the whitening process. Your best bet would be to ask your dentist what you could use. They may suggest using a toothpaste that is designed to help with tooth sensitivity.
I would often advise patients with tooth sensitivity to rub this toothpaste on their sensitive teeth and leave it there. Just a thin layer especially along the teeth at the gum line on both sides of the teeth. It's worked for a lot of people and could help you. Hopefully you won't have a bad experience with the whitening process. Good luck.
