Those of you going to pain management clinics may have been through programs where various techniques are taught to alleviate pain and reduce the need of medications. One area taught at our local clinics is meditation. Have you tried this technique and was it helpful?
Hi, yes i have felt the benefit in this area. Ironically, just yesterday i was at my regular DBT group meeting & we were doing an exercise. I started of finding it difficult to concentrate initially as i had a headache. But before long i was focusing on the exercise, and by the end of it my headache had gone! I love it! & would definitely recommend it : )
I've read abstracts that say CAT scans show that the brain releases hormones that alleviate pain in people that meditate or pray. They'd do a scan, then allow a person to be in a meditative or prayerful mood and do a scan. Several hours later they would do another scan. It's very interesting to see a small spot change to a large spot and slowly recede.
My son uses acupuncture. A person can see the difference in him. His skin is better looking. For me, I use self-hypnosis. I find that it calms and focuses me.
