My husband has been going through difficult times, he was diagnosed with pulmonary Fibrosis last year, he's had pneumonia twice last year, terrible coughing frenzy's that last for minutes. How has the medication help you? Can you see any improvement with this new drug Ofev?
I am 49 years old and diagnosed with IPF in 2010 with life expectancy 3-5 years, but here I am at 5 years this month. Pneumonia and respiratory infections are very common and very lengthy. I am on oxygen and treated at Duke, by some of the most intensive doctors, which I am grateful for all. I asked my doctor about Ofev and Esbriet, but he isn't sold yet on the clinical results yet and the cost is out of this world. It took a year for insurance to accept Breo and it's finally paid, but that was $300 and assisted with samples. I don't believe yet in this medication and would be hesitant on cost anyhow, but it looks like the goal is stock shares related and no actual concern about the patient. I find it as bad as the snake-oil salesman promising the world and delivering nothing. If Duke wasn't even wiling to prescribe it, that speaks volumes to me. God bless you and your husband and there are times that are really bad, but you go on just to enjoy the moments to make memories. Hugs!
