When someone's heart and respirations stop, and resuscitation can't bring them back they are dead. If they come back, after resuscitation, they might consider that they were dead and came back.
Clinically dead is when the heart and breathing stop. If a person stops breathing and their heart stops beating, they are clinically dead but may be brought back with resuscitation if the heart is started again and they start breathing again.
