Your thigh? Every once in a while I get a pain in my mid thigh on the outside. The pain is a deep muscle pain that occurs when I walk. Is it because of the new hip? Also when I rub that area it seems to have a (void) if you can understand that. Its hard to describe. Thanks for all your help! Your a great bunch of folks!!
I get similar pain on my front slightly inner thigh. My pain occur when walking and when I am not. like yours it is too a deep muscle pain if I touch it there is no void in my case and the pain does not get worse. However touch an area on the buttocks well what can I say, PAIN... Also the muscle pain in the thigh gets worse. So in my case the pain is coming from a trigger point on my buttocks and is referring pain into the thigh. If you lightly poke areas on the buttocks and your hips. If the pain is coming from a trigger point In these areas believe me you will know about it!
Hey there and I surely can empathize with your hip and pain. I think you are still recovering from that. My surgeon told me that a full and complete recovery, in my case, could be 9 months to 1 year. I do not have diabetes but I do have the drop foot. That was the result of lumbar surgery. I have it in both feet. As far as your hip goes... keep doing those exercises that you got from PT and even aquatherapy in a heated pool, if you have access to one.
Also, because you had that infection plus the diabetes adding to the lengthier recovery... I would take a more conservative approach to dealing with that pain. Don't forget those gel packs and/or the heating pad. I still alternate between those. My hip replacement was in Feb. of 2012. Every now and again I get a strong pinching sensation and burning, stinging like feeling just behind the area of entry at the top. I still walk to stretch myself out after working. At least I am still able to work part-time...
So in a nut-shell, I think you are still in the recovery phase but don't hesitate to contact your surgeon if you feel there is something wrong... infections are never a good. I was also told to make sure that I make my dental care a priority because anything coming from the mouth... manages to find its way down to that surgical site and wreck havoc! I'm sure that was explained to you, too.
I hope you get to feeling better sooner rather than later. And, yes, there is a bit of a void... nothing like a hole though... just from where flesh and muscles were cut.
