I have tried numerous meds in an attempt to alleviate my severe anxiety panic depression and PTSD nothing has helped I just started paxil and am waiting to see if it helps Ian starting to wonder if what I expect from a med is even possible I feel unable to function and would like to know how other people felt before something worked
Hi I now how you feel. I've been trying for three years to find something to
help me with anxiety and depression. A few have worked for a short time
and quit. I am taking 37.5 of Effexor and 250 of Lamictal and feel much
better but am going up (probably) on the Lamictal. I am also seeing a counselor and trying to keep myself busy. My self talk stinks, do you have that problem? Judy
I wish you were in a better place. I had everthing you have described. I still have PTSD, but the anxiety/panic & depression are in check.
How did I feel? I felt lost, scared, alone and thought I would loose my mind. I was a mess and like you wondered if I was ever going to get out of the dark hole I was in. I was not functioning. I had also tried numerous meds that did not work out.
It is possible to find the right meds along with therapy and with time it can get better. You are never alone. Don't give up you are a good person.
There are great caring people on this site to help you walk through this rough patch in your life.
I wish you hope for your journey.
Medications help you up to where you can live without being in fear that you will take your life. They help us enough to get to therapy - and there we can really make progress. Therapy takes time, especially if you have PTSD. It's important that you commit a good amount of time to therapy, and your therapist does also - not planning to move soon or anything. I was helped a lot by gradually being able to speak in therapy and say what happened to me - and my therapist didn't faint, completely reject me or anything else that I feared he would do. But the medications helped to stabilize me until I got to the root cause of it all and dealt with my problems. Best wishes to you - EJ23
The way I felt before I found meds that worked was dead. I was in hospital for 6 months with a major depression. I had had a psychotic episode because before I was admitted a Psychiatrist pres. me Seroquel. It made me so sick. It took 6 months until the docs found that Manerix along with Lithium was the meds for me. I had my life on hold until then. A great husband who worked full time taking care of our kids age 6 and 8and a half at the time. He was exhausted because he took care of everything plus came to see me daily. I had couldn't remember what people were saying so I pretty much stopped talking to anyone except hubby and nurse. I went from 150 to 103 pounds at the time. I was ill mentally and physically. I felt dead and didn't think I was going back home. But God brought me through it with flying colors and now I no longer suffer from any signs of Depression and can help others that do. I really believe he made me go through it to help others!
I pray and hope that you find the right meds for you too.
