I have been taking Chantix since August 28th and have been totally smoke free for three days so far. I am doing ok and my cravings are definitely going down. I am anxious though and have stressful moments like everyone. I used to reach for a cigarette when I got stressed. How do you now non-smokers deal with stress?
Get a big bag of candy and put it out where you can easily reach it instead of reaching for cigarettes grab a handful of jellybeans, or get a cup of ice and chew on it. Chewing gum works. You could even try one of those electric cigarettes but don't puff on it. You know we're used to having something in our hands. I was chewing the heck out of straws. It worked along with everything else I mentioned. Good luck to you and congratulations on quitting. Pepper
ElleC; When i went through the class at the hospital, They had us all taking vitamin B=100 which has lots of b not the standard and B is non toxic you sluff off any extra and only take one a day. It works good for the extra stress control and also hold something in you mouth and fingers so you can get the feel of like having a cig. in your hand. And remember the Chantix dose changes in strength and should help you too I can't remember off hand but the blister pak I used it started out with 1mg then went to 2mg. keep your hands busy with a book low sugar candies I found mints and butterscotch drops kept me going..love my jelly beans too. It gets easier with more days without and extra showers to get the smell of the nicotine coming out of you pores helps also..All the luck in the world to you my friend keep us posted. Chuck1957
Go outside. Find a field and get permission to walk it. Look at the plants, the trees, listen to the birds and insects, feel the breeze on your skin, lay down in the grass and watch the clouds to see what shapes you can find, take a sketch pad and pencil so you can draw plants or scenes, take a camera to capture moments, get a good plant ID book and learn to ID the plants in your field, get a bird book and learn to ID the birds you see and hear. Of course you can do all of this in your yard as well. But go outside.
