My step son takes adderall 10mg 2 times a day and when he comes back home from his moms house he acts like he has not had his medicane because he is bouncing off the walls. So is there a way to see if he is taking it.
Hello concerned parent 509.
My son has adhd, and I always made sure he took it, but there would be times he'd go to his grandmoms overnight and I would give her the medication, and he didn't take it he would tell me he forgot or whatever, and would always no, for he would not be calm and be bouncing off the walls not being able to sit still etc..So that to me would be one sign, but as Pledge has stating the only true way would be through blood work... best of luck...
Just wanted to add it is not the child who should remember. I know adults that forget their meds. When he is over night, written instructions go to the adult for a set time that coincides with a trigger to remember. Like bed time stories, snack, after brushing teeth. Something consistent. If things are in a chaotic household, then set a time on the phone, computer, or even call. Every time.
The med is important and once everyone is on the same page and understand the need for his life to be easier, it will come together. Once a parent, always a parent. Lol.
