My mothers has Hepatitis C with Geno type 1 b. Her doctor recommended Sovaldi but I am out side US and don't know how to get hold of it. Please help.
Write to the manufacturer? It has just been approved by the public pharmaceutical benefits scheme in Australia and so costs between AU$6 and AU$30 per month for citizens and permanent residents but the real cost is about US$80,000 for the treatment. Egypt has a licensing agreement that provides a generic for US$900 per fortnight. It all depends where you live. Be wary of cheap generics on the internet (if they exist) as they will not be genuine medication.
You need to find a gerontologist whose has staff working with insurance and manufacturer. My doctor's group, I think they are his nurses. Mine got my copay down to $15/month on a $85K treatment. don't bother with international pharmacies, especially on such a difficult treatment. Keep going to different doctors until you find one who can deal with the insurance and manufacturer. Be sure to ask if they can help you with this. Respond so we can see what you found. By the way, Sovaldi can't work alone. It has to have Ribavirin or something else with it.
