I didn't take the brown pills in my Microgestin Fe1.5/30 pack. I just threw the pack away. I had forgotten and started a new pack. I took two of the green pills. Should I just keep taking the green pills?
The brown pills are inert pills meaning their is no active ingredients. They are just basically "reminder" or "sugar" pills. This withdrawal of hormones is what triggers your uterine lining to shed (otherwise known as one's "period"). So keep taking your green active pills. It is acceptable to skip a period a few times a year (no more than 3 or 4 times a year, max) and you do this by skipping the brown pills and going right to the new pack. This doesnt affect your protection-you are still protected. It doesnt always work to skip a period, sometimes you may get some spotting anyway but it is usually short lived and light but many times you can completely skip that months period which can be a nice thing if you have a special event like a vacation coming up. So no worries, you are fine. Just keep on with the pills but do take them (the brown ones) next month (even though there are no active ingredients, it helps you keep track of your cycle and it helps get the "One pill a day" idea cemented into your brain!).
